At some point in my life I realized that grades doesn't really matter, only true knowledge does. How I performed in the exam "on stage" didn't really translate to how well I benefitted from a class. Some courses with top grades were forgotten in months while some with lesser stuck to me forever. I recommend trying to learn everything you can from a course with a critical and independent mind and don't fret too much over grades judged on how well you performed in that instant. When looking for jobs grades will have impact, but true knowledge is realized instantly and worth a million times more than numbers/letters on a paper. Some of the mistakes I made early in my life was disinterest and skipping of class, then read it all before the exam to score a good grade. I did this because it was the easiest way for me, why waste my time when I could get a good grade anyways I told myself... The problem is that the brain don't work that well with this strategy, in the long run you benefit so much more from having digested the knowledge over time and letting it stick to the brain. My point is that hard work will always give you the most benefit and I consider my discipline to work hard my most valuable (and hardest learned) lesson in life.

A* in English Language, B in Music, D in Chemistry. Got more then enough UCAS points for my course ( Creative Music Technology at UWE ). Very disappointed with my Music grade though, I did so badly in most my Music Exams. Grats to everyone who made it in!

And they are the grades that we show to our universities to get in. So a university gives a requirement of for example AAA, and you need to get A grades in 3 different A level subjects to get accepted into the university. Sorry it's fairly hard to explain and I don't know much about the US educational system but hopefully that helped a little.

From what I understand in the US system you receive offers from colleges, based on the quality of your application, and then they give you an offer, which asks you to get a certain grade in your SATs. This is sort of like that. We get offers from Universities and we have to get above the grades that they ask. I don't really understand SATs, but I believe that everyone takes the same tests, while in England (the school systems are similar within Britain, but the systems are devolved) you take specific subjects (usually 3).
