Some major effort should be(and will be) put on rehibilitating him. If that's successful then that would be the ultimate punishment.

Couldn't he be tried for being a traitor and thus be imprisoned for life without a chance of parole? Or is that maybe not possible in Norway.

They've just arrested a second man, in poland.

According to polish media he runs a webshop selling chemical products.

It's a shame we won't get to hear him speak. I think it's important for everyone to see that no matter how terrible his actions are he is still just a guy. Hopefully he will eventually get to speak publicly, but i doubt it.

My respect to the victims.
But I think it would be dangerous, to just say he's an insane lone-wolf, without looking at the aspects why he did this. There's a definite climate of hate in European society (at least in major parts), it's not like his views came out of nowhere. There's fear spreaded of the "Muslim takeover" in Europe. And some psychopath will take this stuff and issue his problems into it and gets violent. I hope that an honest debate in a broad appeal can come up, about the political climate and the hate and segregation between different parts of society, and maybe a deeper understanding can come out of it.

This man is not insane, he's a political diehard. His grievances are political and this massacre was a political act. People on the far-right are supposed to get a morale boost, "the left" is supposed to be scared, and people who are receptive to far-right ideas are supposed to read his beliefs in all the media coverage and move farther to the right.
He's not insane, he's a Nazi living in the wrong time. He would have made a great death camp officer I'm sure. The political culture of Europe has been heavily against the ideas created or appropriated by the Nazis, to his eyes politicians have been fooling the people into believing ideas he hates were okay, he was mad as hell about it and he wasn't going to take it anymore. The political class of Europe is the enemy; their children are a legitimate target. Horrifyingly evil, but not insane. People don't need to be insane to be complete monsters.

My heart and thoughts goes to the families and to my Norwegian neighbors.
“Om en människa kan hysa så mycket hat, tänk då hur mycket kärlek vi kan visa tillsammans” - AUF girl
“If a person can harbour this much hate, imagine how much love we can express together ” (rough translation)

just read 3pages long article on a local newspaper... 1 whole page was dedicated to the killer, his background and scocial life.. totally out of context they wrote these 2 sentences: "Bekannt ist auch, dass er gern das Computerspiel 'World of Warkraft' spielte. Auch dort wird gemordet."
It is known that he liked to play the computer game World of Warkraft. There is murder too.
It makes me sad, that nowadays such article cannot live without referencing at least one example of these computer games and their bad influence on murderers. :/
EDIT: oh.. sth similar was said before...

Just out of curiosity - what show was that? Didnt watch too much TV over the weekend...

He would show that he's a fucking moron and that his "ideas" are crazy and disgusting to every sane person. "We" don't want him to talk because we're afraid that "many" people are d'accord with his opinion.

Agree. He wants to be important, he thinks he is a hero or something like that. By his acts, he lost the right to open his f***in mouth.

Why give this man what he wants, no matter what it is? He's requested a few things, and there's no need for them to even be taken into consideration how I see it.

Wow. Did you even read anything about him? He's against National Socialism, and is pro-Israel.

There's more to national-socialism than hating jews. The arguments against the group are the same, in reality they are just scapegoats. Antisemitism has no real base today because there simply aren't many jews left in Europe, muslims took their spot as scapegoats. It's not a real difference if you look beyond the obvious.
I also don't think he's "insane insane". A. he planned the attack long in advance B. had a reason and a goal C. knew the consequences D. accepted the consequences and moved forward
He's a terrorist. And he will probably become the new martyr for neo-nazis and right-wing radicals everywhere.
