Spears have probably been the most widely used weapons in human history, from ancient germans over early romans, greeks, persians, indians, chinese to japanese, it's hard to find a single culture in which the spear was not the most important melee weapon.
Instead in most RPGs swords are the most widely used primary weapons when in reality it was often the secondary weapon. It's stupid and would be comparable to FPS games like CS and Arma only featuring pistols and no rifles.
/rant Power of spears is in the numbers. Tight formations with many spears pointing out means very difficult times for melee opponents. On the other hand a single soldier with a spear is much more vulnerable to someone equipped with a more nimble weapon. In RPGs the characters are usually fighting in smaller numbers or alone. Partially correct. In an unarmored or lightly armored duel a spear is still a more dangerous weapon then a swords/axe/hammer. Versus someone in plate armor a spear is completely useless but then so are most swords save for specialized swords like estocs.
Versus beast or animals which are the most common enemies you would still chose a spear over a sword or a weapon with short reach.

spears are for support side characters

Two things. Firstly the Romans used swords as their main weapon in war, perhaps rpq characters are modeled after Roman infantry?
Secondly, in close quarters and indoor fighting, swords are far more useful than spears. Most rpgs have significant amounts of dungeon crawling, when you wouldn't be able to effectively wield your spear.

Don't forget that swords are this big symbol of rightful strength etc (Pulling the sword from the stone, Justitia, and many more), while spears are never really seen as something impressive. So of course people want to be the cool guy with the sword, not the random guy with some spear.

Should I buy Blizzcon virtual ticket in hope of getting sc2 LOTV beta key? What are the odds?

Most rpgs have significant amounts of dungeon crawling, when you wouldn't be able to effectively wield your spear. About the roman infantry mainly using swords: It is still unknown when exactly the sword started becoming more popular for roman legions then the spear. During the early republic Romans fought in Greek phalanx style with hoplite equipment. After the roman defeat in the Samnite Wars (around 300bc) they adopted the Samnite manipular system and of the 3 troop types of hastati, principes and triarii both principes and triarii were armed with hastas(spears) in the beginning. At some later point, which is unknown as far as I know, principes also started using swords and only triarii remained as spear fighters. After the Marian reform in 107BC it is sure that most troops used swords as their main weapon. This changed again at the end of the early roman Empire period.
So as you see Romans used swords as their primary infantry weapon during the late Republic and early Empire period. Before that and during the middle and late roman empire period they used mainly spears.

In China the spear was also regarded as the "King of Weapons". But it is true that in later european history the sword had much stronger symbolism then the spear. Still not just random poor people fought with spears it was also the weapon of legendary warriors like Achilleus, Odysseus etc
Okay this is enough arguing about spears for me :D I don't want to portrait the spear as the best weapon possible in all scenarios, of course there are situations were a spear would not be a good choice of weapon but it would be nice if you at least had the option to chose a spear in RPG games, which many games don't offer at all

Just out of curiosity, since I have already resolved this issue with a phone call...
Context: I bought a used car from a small dealership in Washington State. My monthly payment is $255. For the months of April, May, June, July, August, and September I have been making payments of $300 (over-paying by $45). So at that point I was $270 overpaid.
For October, I did not receive an invoice from them and so I made the assumption that they were simply skipping that month since I was overpaid. Now in November's invoice I see that their accountant is attempting to charge me $560 (includes $255 for the missing October payment plus a $50 late fee).
Like I said, this has already been resolved; the guy agreed that there would be no late fee and I could make a payment as low as $240 if I wanted to. But just out of curiosity, does he actually have the right to charge me a late fee? Because he insisted on that right earlier on in our phone conversation. After reading the fine print of the contract several times, it is still unclear to me which is why I ask TL.

Sounds like he does have that right, because it was never clarified that you got to take the month off for your payment (even though you paid extra in previous months).
Why did you pay them $300 instead of $255 for the first few months anyway? It sounds like you gave them extra money for no reason, or that you assumed you could pay-it-forward for an eventual month.

Only patially correct. You can hold pretty much any sword with two hands on the blade, the grip, which often holds some metalball/in general is somewhat bulky for counterbalance can be used as a devastating mace that way. In general, you either bash the head of your opponent in platemail with it, or fight regularly with your sword until you get your enemy to the ground in some way, then you give him his free concussion. Since I am interested into european medival martial arts since a long time, I know that even a onehanded sword can be used that way to kill an enemy in full plate, if he is wearing an authentic armor (today it would be possible for a knights helmet to withstand that type of attack, but the helmets at that time couldnt deal with that). When using a bastard-sword or 2-handed sword, you often could even get enough of an impact thorugh leverage to deform weak parts of the armor of your opponent, leaving him unable to breathe or limited in movement (without breaking the armor of course. dealing damage that goes over deforming the armor and even breaking it with such an blunt impact is almost impossible, at least with a sword). While a plate armor of course is very good for protection against most medival weaponss, most swords are still far from useless, even though they surely are at a disadvantage in comparison to a proper mace, warhammer, specialised sword or a special kind of axe (cant remember the name, and dont know how it is called in english. basicly, it looks a little bit like a lighter warhammer, with a longer pole and an axe-part on one side, as well as a thick needle at the head of the pole.)

Cool bro, I am also interested in HEMA. You are totally correct with what you said. I just tried to keep it simple because I didn't want to write a longer text and because most games don't offer options for halfswording, pommel stikes or using your 2handed sword or similar long weapon as a lever to make an opponent in full plate fall. I just meant normal slashing attacks are completely useless versus full plate armor and thrusting attacks without halfswording you have to be extremely good/lucky to hit a gap in the armor and be successful with it. Basically for example the sword attacking animations in Skyrim for example would be almost useless versus full plate armor.
I think the word you are looking for is Pollaxe (Mordaxt).

stupid questions now: is nicky minaj ass real or did she consume those japanese hormones cookies ? wich ass is better ? nicky or kimkardashian or another ?
is it true that we only use 10% percent of our brain?

I've heard about 10% at any one time, but I can't remember any sources so this might be bullshit as well. Over the course of a day you use pretty much 100%.

This isn't a stupid question (or maybe it is) but I was researching a topic for publication and I was wondering this:
Why is PPLI legal? It provides extensive tax evasion and allows the rich to stay rich. I don't understand?

If true, it's kinda silly that in my opinion that the law works that way. But whatever. Technicalities.
I'm overpaying in order to get out of this debt sooner and officially own the car sooner, not for the pay-it-forward cushion.

Something like 10% of your neurons are firing at any given point, but they have a cooldown and over time you do use 100% of your brain.
