USA are a melting pot of many ancient cultures like british, irish, italians, germans, portuguese, spanish bla bla.. so you exported the same of less then what you received from others! That's a lot like crediting all of European culture to the Italians, which is a little bizarre. I suppose you'll also tell me there's no such thing as Brazilian or Chilean or Mexican culture, it should all be credited to Spain and Portugal. Or is this rule only applicable to Americans for some reason?

Is that why there's a unicorn on UK's royal coat of arms?

A lot of Chinese modern culture is in fact imported from Taiwan and Hong Kong.
Uh first of all, Libya is not a European country >.> Well the reason Europeans are against calling US the only super power is because China is (atleast in Swedish media) well considered a super power, and we speak in purely economical terms here. They've invested hugely in Africa and South America, as well as Central Asia, and are lending more money than IMF, with the one difference that they don't care if the country establishes a democracy, they're just as ruthless in all other terms. The term is very vague anyway, but describe the power to influence foreign countries and events according to wikipedia, something China is sertainly capable of, considering their ginormous amount of loans to various countries.
TL;DR China is so a super power! >.<
I can't really think of anything for Sweden. Good internet, good gamers, decent politics, good wellfare, IKEA, ericsson, volvo, H&M.. Meh that's it. It's pretty dull.
I can't believe our American friends havn't said stuff such as.. Starcraft (duh), maybe the worlds if not largest, atleast the best game, movie and music industry in modern time, the worlds richest people, the worlds best colleges etc etc.

I hear it was a common practice in (most) CCCP satellite states, as it was cheaper than dubbing and subtitles were technologically not viable and it stuck after we regained independence. Obviously, people with access to cable / digital have the freedom of choice (between the lector, dubbing, original audio with or without subtitles), but vast majority of programmes still feature a lector
We even have a joke here in Poland concerning this phenomenon: The only person who has seen all the episodes of "The Bold and The Beautiful" is the lector - which, by the way, is true, as the same guy is reading all the episodes ever since the show started to be shown in Poland. With 5500 episodes and still counting that is no small feat

1) Germany is the country which is the most honest about his historical failures.
2) It's the country with the best beer in the world (bash me if you wan't, convince me you won't)
3) We got frikkin' awesome thinkers (named before) and classical composers and musicians. We can feed from Bach, Beethoven and Mozart, we had Karajan, and we have the Berlin Philharmonics which is one of the two best orchestras in the world (the other one is in Vienna).
4) Social security (though I despise the system as it is) is one of the most "helpful" ones I've encountered.
5) Our toilets have a little platform so the poop doesn't drop deep into the water which could cause splashing and moist buttocks.
I'm not really sure about the "your country" thing. I'm currently living in France, although I've been a true German for the longest part of my young life. So I'll just add two things for France:
a) The food - I can't tell you about it; just come here and taste a conservative french dinner. You'll be mindblown.
b) The women.

From what i see in the news there is much more poverty, low education, crime and unjustice in the states then in europe and i've been in the states 3 times and know all of europe! TL;DR China is so a super power! >.< The US still has far greater economic influence than China. I would not say the US "is near bankrupt," which means dangerously close to defaulting on its loans. Greece is near bankrupt. The fact that the US has a high deficit, yet the yields on US treasuries are so low, is simply a testament to its economic influence: the American dollar is the preferred investment vehicle if you're looking for something safe. The Chinese RMB is pegged to the US dollar for a reason.
Militarily, China has trouble even exerting influence in its own backyard.
In all other respects (politically, culturally, technologically), China is less influential than even individual European countries.

"the American dollar is the preferred investment vehicle if you're looking for something safe".. I'm not particularly well read on that matter, but in my understanding you're currency is now worth less than half what it used to be worth a couple of years ago - not what i'd call safe.

Because the chinese dont want to "meddle", doesnt mean they have less influence. "Influence" is really just getting your interests through political channels. I really don't see any prominent examples of China using its influence, this despite being on the UN security council. If anything, they seem more focused on trivial things like making sure everyone refers to Taiwan as "Chinese Taipei."
Anyway, this is off-topic enough. That's my last post on this subject.

Only reason those actions for/against lybia heapened is because China AND Russia didnt use their influence to veto the proposal.
