Its the reason why you guys rioted. Over a fucking game? Two teams play for the sake of competition and the team you like loses and your first thought is, 'fuck, well gotta go break private/public property." LOL. If I was in charge or the owner of any of these places i'de be shooting in the croud. This is why im so disgusted by sports like hucky/basketball/football/american football. The fans are so simple minded and power hungry is repulsive.

There is a difference between stopping a protest and stopping a riot doing building damage. With people getting attacked for defending their property... Of course, and they were out in full force, will all the gear you mentioned (plus policemen on horseback). But all they really did was form lines to marshall the crowd to one direction or another. The big problem was that there were the real rioters and looters, but hundreds of harmless loiterers and spectators just milling around or documenting the rioting. The cops took a much more patient approach (too patient in my eyes, personally).

They were already armed with fire hydrants and shit before the game. The result of the game has nothing to do with it.

If you truely believe that the riot was CAUSED by the loss of a hockey game, you really need to look at the bigger picture. People were aware that there would be a 100 of thousand+ people downtown for the game. Some people decided to bring mask's and weapons with them. They are the minority of the 100 of thousand+ of people that are downtown at the time when this erupts. The people who came with masks and weapons were going to start a riot no matter which team won! Unfortunately the few have given people like yourself who sit all high and mighty in a land where nothing ever goes wrong an incorrect view on Vancouver. I truely feel sorry for you that your view of the world is so askew that you honestly believe what you originally typed.

Maybe Vancouver is not the peaceful city the inhabitants make it out to be wtf are you talking about 2010 olympics riot??, before judging you might wanna educate yourself on the subject. If you knew anything about that you would have known that the 2010 vancouver olympics were one of the greatest moments of vancouver and absolutely no rioting happened. People came from all over and everyone had a great time

Either way, everyone loves blowing shit out of proportion

It's about the fans. And the fans are the ones doing this not the people who participated in a friendly game of hockey.

Its a bunch of anarchists looking for an excuse to destroy things and they would have win or lose and then a lot of super drunk people not being able to handle the craziness. I still laugh that people think fans are ever the start of violent sports riots

The rioters obviously weren't real fans as its been shown in every news story. Many of these people are just anarchists who were waiting for a big event like this to riot. Maybe 1% of the rioters were actual fans. The rest were people just looking for an excuse to do something stupid. So please don't try and group real fans with those people. Also if you were shooting the crowd you would be worse than the rioters themselves. You criticize them and then stoop to a level even lower than them? It doesn't make sense.

We flip them. We burn them. We break them. We jump on them. If you want to find the rioters, just follow the trail of destroyed cars.

In Texas if you step on private property the owner has the right to shoot. All of the state legislator in Texas cant be ignorant i'm sure of it. And how does pulling statistics from the air make you any less ignorant than I? Look at any of the videos on youtube they were sporting jerseys of the team. All the news reports also say "Fans" not "Anarchist." Please don't trow around the ignorant card so loosely when your post was so half-assed.

Do you think actual hockey fans were the ones who prepared molotov cocktails before the game even began?
