Some scary moments: 1) Guy pushing people around him got threatened and shoved by like 6 people. 2) full bottles of pop (750mL) being thrown into the crowd in the 1st period 3) People pelting fans in trees with garbage/bottles 4) Other debris being thrown 5) Pot smokers (gross!) 6) People threatening Boston fans at Roger arena "I will kill that b****", "Thomas' kids and wife are dead", add your own expletives 7) People mentioning that they will riot, regardless of outcome and that they were there to cause trouble. 8) At the end of the game people throwing (some glass) bottles at the tv and disrupting the image (georgia street) 9) People jumping on the car (vw golf) then flipping it over (same one as in 2nd picture on opening page and last picture on opening page). I left after that.
How are pot smokers scarier then people threatening to kill Tim Thomas and his family?
Sorry for the confusion. The number system I used in no way reflects the importance (ie. 1 is not higher priority or scarier than 2), it is purely nominal. I just really hate the smell of pot and it lessened my experience. I know many others may feel the exact opposite, but whatever.
Edit:

Really? For me it was the Tsunami in Southeast Asia. There was a picture of hundreds of bodies floating in the water face down. That was awful, I haven't looked at the picture since then but it I can still visualize it. The riot was bad and scary (I watched the game in downtown) but for me seeing people die is always worse then idiots making fools of themselves.
This is depressing. Canada (especially Western CA) is one of the nicer places in the world, and now they pull a stunt like this? Must have been all those unwashed southerners hopping the border for the game :p
Let's all remember the Canadian National Anthem, and sing it now in hopes for a better tomorrow.
O Canada! Our home and native land! True patriot love in all thy sons command. With glowing hearts we see thee rise, The True North strong and free! From far and wide, O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. God keep our land glorious and free! O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Sports and rioting go together, Hell LA will riot when the lakers loses it will also riot when they win except it will be called a party but cars will still be overturned and burned.

For the record, hockey is my favorite sport.
I don't think you understand how culturally important that hockey is in Canada. It's been almost 20 years since the Stanley Cup has been won by a Canadian team. Plus the Canucks kinda have a reputation for choking.

As compared to how culturally suppressed other countries are LOL. I'm talking about the shit that matters. Life. Hockey as much as we love it, doesn't have any effect on any part of our immediate lives what so ever.
People in the middle east on the other hand riot for a reason. Not to just take advantage of a situation to go out and break laws just because they can. It's stupid, and it should never happen.
Your team lost, tough shit. So did mine
Edit: It frankly makes me ashamed to be a human being that we riot over dumb crap like this, while people are slaughtered in the streets just because they have a different view then their respective governments. At the end of the day, does it really matter? People need to learn to grow up. We don't know what it's like to have to live in fear constantly... It's down right ignorant.

Come on, over one riot? Do you have to generalize over one riot? Really?
You have riots in Sweden too, give us a chance.
Its not the riot itself. Its the reason why you guys rioted.
Over a fucking game? Two teams play for the sake of competition and the team you like loses and your first thought is, 'fuck, well gotta go break private/public property."
LOL. If I was in charge or the owner of any of these places i'de be shooting in the croud.
This is why im so disgusted by sports like hockey/basketball/football/american football. The fans are so simple minded and power hungry is repulsive.
This whole post makes you sound incredibly stupid and ignorant. No offense intended, but that's how it seems.
The rioters obviously weren't real fans as its been shown in every news story. Many of these people are just anarchists who were waiting for a big event like this to riot. Maybe 1% of the rioters were actual fans. The rest were people just looking for an excuse to do something stupid. So please don't try and group real fans with those people.
Also if you were shooting the crowd you would be worse than the rioters themselves. You criticize them and then stoop to a level even lower than them? It doesn't make sense.
Ignorant in what way? In Texas if you step on private property the owner has the right to shoot. All of the state legislator in Texas cant be ignorant i'm sure of it.
And how does pulling statistics from the air make you any less ignorant than I?
Look at any of the videos on youtube they were sporting jerseys of the team. All the news reports also say "Fans" not "Anarchist."
Please don't trow around the ignorant card so loosely when your post was so half-assed.
Just wearing a team sweater doesn't make you a true fan. Do you think actual hockey fans were the ones who prepared molotov cocktails before the game even began?
Fan or True fan is irrelevant. Maybe the fans in the riots believe you arnt a true fan because you took the loss so passively? Is that what you are really here to argue? "These guys arnt true fans becuase I am a true fan! And I would never do something so idiotic!"
Hockey team loses game. Immediately after people (fans) dressed in their attire start destroying property. How in there do you make the connection that they arnt 'true fans.'
Ya ya post hoc ergo proctor hoc etcetc.
"VPD chief Jim Chu said that instigators appeared to be some of the same individuals involved in a protest on the opening day of the 2010 Winter Olympics, and that they came equipped with eye protection, gasoline and other tools. He called them "criminals and anarchists" who disguised themselves as fans."
Also people like you should be banned because you're obviously just trying to start arguments.

Don't be embarrassed man! That was just a small portion of 19/20 yr old misfits who are going nowhere in life!
11,000ish people showed up this morning to help city officials clean up the streets. NOW THATS MY BC! :D
I'm going to ask a really stupid question, but what exactly are they rioting? Usually there are reasons for riots but I just don't see one in this case...

No reasons, just a bunch of arrogant persons who just want to destroy their own city...

Edit: It's great to see so many volunteers in the aftermath though. Still, this was something that shouldn't have happened. May the police catch those responsible in a swift manner.

It is fucking embarrassing that three retards with skateboards can do that and 50 people stand there like dumb sheep watching it. I applaud that guy, but it should have been the whole crowd turning on those jerks.
