Definitely not. There's only a small number of people who like both of those genres and the stuff they listen to from both of those genres in that case is the mainstream, "the bad kind". And thats said without any "IM SO UNDRGRND I DONT EVEN DRINK WATER CUZ THAZ MAINSTREAM" attitude. Mainstream stuff is made to appeal to the masses, and the only aspects they usually stick to that make them categorizable is the tempo (140bpm in dubstep and 170-180 in dnb)
and theres plenty of shit dnb in this thread as well but dont let my opinion and taste phase you when you filter through the stuff that you personally like n feel. As much as id like it, i can only direct preferences instead of enforcing them :D
That said, Roll on the good DNB small selection for yous links in spoilers to free up pagespace and spare you from scrolling and loading all the track embeds (i wish more people did this)
Shapeshifter - One (from their album Soulstice. Shapeshifter we're awesome before they signed exclusively to Hospital Recs, and has already been linked in this thread, for a reason. Soulful DNB at its best) + Show Spoiler +
Cooh - Your Sunny Morning (From the LP "Cinematic DNB vol.1" on Dubkraft Records, which says a lot about the feel of this track. So many people breaking the mould these days that its plain awesome to see the DNB scene so fresh n clean these days with so much talent emerging. Warm breezy n ambientish track) + Show Spoiler +
Jubei & dBridge - Patience (Something from a totally different subgenre. I like to describe this as a heavy deep roller (unlike the neuro and techstep of the early 2000's, this can still be classified as 'heavy') Stripped down breaks, a deep bass and sharp percussions with a simplistic yet oh so awesome groove are what describe and summarize that track. and that bass leaves you breathless on a dancefloor, trust me, its huge O_O) + Show Spoiler +
dBridge & Instra:Mental - Translucent (The 'autonomic' sound, popularized in '10 mainly by the guys featured on this one. Staying true to the 170bpm time signature, but borrowing so many influences from everywhere, genre and era-wise. Breaking the mould of standard breaks, yet staying true to the elements that encompass DnB. Really emotional and melodic roller. I really suggest you look more of both dBridge & Instra:Mental up if you like this. + Show Spoiler +
Bungle - The Source (unlike the other suggestions so far that are relatively new, this one hails from 2008. Yet it has that timeless sound that still makes it a great track in every set. Sharp and snappy breaks with heavy atmos and bleepy leads and a rolling bassline make this one of my all-time fav tracks. Enchanting) + Show Spoiler +
Time to end this seemingly monstrous post Hope you enjoy my suggestions and the little previews that i chose to accompany with them As some of you can tell, i am really passionate about my drums and my bass
And if you listen to Bassdrive enough, you'll hear my tunes on there as well :D Selfplug in the spoiler >_>
www.soundcloud.com/fuse-est <- havent got practically any tracks up on youtube but most of them are on soundcloud as slightly shortened clips (since most of them are either unsigned or signed but not released yet) enjoy :D
Some good stuff mentioned in here, but I reallly think people should put their links in spoilertags so the whole page isn't filled up with the youtube embeds.
I'm a long time EDM fan, but mostly sticking to genres not listed in this thread. I've just recently started exploring other EDM sub-genres and I must say that the sheer number and variety is astounding, awe-inspiring, and sometimes intimidating. Keeping it all straight in my head makes my brain hurt!
One reason why I love EDM is that there seems to be a sub-genre for every mood and every day. I can get my electronic fix no matter what!
WOW Icicle's new album got released today on Shogun Audio. Killller the entire album has previews on www.undertheice.org, but here are my favorties from the ep + Show Spoiler +
yeah i havent gotten round to listening to it yet but knowing Icicle and seeing the feedback its getting, its bound to be huge and even better turns out he's playing here on may 20th WINRAR

I don´t want to sound like a hater but.
I like drum and base and not dubstep. Dubstep drowned out a lot of the DnB scenes which are very different to me. I don´t want to sort through a mass of dubstep to find dnb gems.
To me dubstep is like a ugly cousin to dnb. Don´t want to derail this in a dubstep vs dnb discussion. To each their own.
Shapeshifter - One (from their album Soulstice. Shapeshifter we're awesome before they signed exclusively to Hospital Recs, and has already been linked in this thread, for a reason. Soulful DNB at its best) + Show Spoiler +

wow shapeshifter - one
now we are talking. i gonna check all the other tracks.
try shapeshifter - the ride. such an intense build up. but you probably know it anyway. summer haze is good too.
you might enjoy the latest underworld (born slippy) track which is called scribble. but the original, not the shitty netsky rmx.
if only my friend diehilde would get into this thread, he is a formidable dnb dj himself. he would have some to say.
again to all the people who like netsky and logistics and b-complex beautiful lies, its not that bad, its a good start actually, but you have only just begun :p
try b-complex girl with flower for instance.
also the new track from seba and paradox (move on) - the light
oh my, there are just so many bits that are worth a recommendation, and i don't even listen to dnb all that much anymore...
I haven't listened to any for a log time but these were some of my favorite tracks:
Makai- Beneath the Mask (uses sped-up Ghost in the Shell sample, so badass) Zinc- Ready or Not remix (great jump up reinterpretation of the classic hiphop track) Konflict- Messiah (Best intro of any track ever) Marcus Intalex- Midnight (perfect singing and melody) DJ Marky- LK (beautiful melodic Brazilian melody) )EI3(- Breathe (epic almost trancey sound) Pendulum- Still Grey (their best melodic track IMO) Dom and Roland- Can't Punish Me (best bassline ever) Practically everything by Omnio Trio- (If you like deep, melodic style then check his stuff out)
As you can tell I'm mostly into tracks that are melodic in some way.
makai - beneath the mask, great, needs a rmx though, the sample is just golden, even if you have never seen gits, but the tune without the sample is kinda plain (like in plane and pain).
pendulum - still grey, their best overall by far imo
yeah midnight and lk, too obvious :D
watch your posts people, the dnb police is now itt :/
