They just take a tarantula and fry it they dont even remove the bristly hairs, i ended up eating several of the legs and the whole abdomen (managed to pass the head off to someone else). Tried not to think to much of what was in the abdomen i was eating such as what the spider had been eating previously or all the web and shit in there.

My friend has tried fresh octopus once. He told me that it was really good and I'd probably enjoy it. He's also eaten spiders on several different occasions. He says that they don't taste to bad you just have to not think about what you're actually putting into your mouth. That being said I would probably eat a spider if it was cooked and didn't look to spidery XD

You should try eating balut or century egg plain, the flavor and smell is pronounced. Its an acquired taste but raw monkey brain is just wrong. :/ edit: Eating chicken hearts is one but gizzards seems to be a staple in many countries.

It's kind of fungus that lives in the ground. It can infect big caterpillars, germinate in them, kill and mummify them. Then it grows out of the body of the mummified caterpillar. edit : poster above me reminded me of century eggs. I hate too see an egg with blueish green yolk. Also I see many people posting chicken gizzard as weird food, I don't find it weird at all ^^

I've eaten really really fresh and raw seafood in Jeju, Korea. The sashimi was excellent. You could tell it'd just been pulled from the tank and that it had been caught very, very recently. The sea slugs and mussels still moving on the plate, though, not so much. I couldn't handle that and didn't eat it. Our tour guide called me a bitch, rofl.

You're right, it's tasteless, but the texture is awful.

I've eaten frog (which I hear isn't so uncommon in certain countries). I've eaten pickled pigs feet on a dare. I've also eaten rattlesnake (caught, killed, and cleaned on the spot), and I suppose crawdads are kind of a rarity depending on where you live. I actually remember eating a lot of crawdads on camp-outs—boiled over a fire in a Coke can with the top cut off. But they're much tastier when they're done up right in of those huge-ass pots with potatoes and corn and spices and whatnot.

ive eaten frog legs, crocodile, turtle, snake. the frog legs were okay..i didnt really like it. same with crocodile, the taste wasnt very appealing to me but maybe it was the way the restaurant prepared it since i had both from the same place. the turtle, my next door neighbor cooked it and it was AMAZING! seriously, snake taste fucking delicious. As for the turtle, well i was little and dont remember liking it, but id have to try it again im also from colombia so maybe things that are typical for me might be weird for others. Blood sausage (morsilla in spanish) is delicious! its made with rice stuffed in it and its very good. also, ive eaten chunchurria, its basically intestines, i dont know what animal though. maybe the chicken? it has a very distinct taste and some people dont like it, i like it alot however. My mom used to be a social worker in colombia, (VERY different from social work here in the states) and she worked with a group of indians in colombia so she had to live with them and such. Anyways, she ate monkey, rabbit, snake, and she told me she ate something that resembled a large rat, but she doesn't recall the name. ive eatenlots of sushi and whatever it is they stuff in it, lol half the time i eat sushi i eat alot of things that i have no idea what they are but its all delicious. looking forward to trying out rabbit though. and i wanna try caviar just to get it out of the way.

That's probably because it's not common anymore, it's the same with any part of cows or pigs that's not good meat, people don't eat that because it's not necessary anymore. A hundred (or less) years ago it was absolutely commonplace to use every part of an animal you slaughtered, like making sausage from the blood, soup from the bones etc.

I guess it's because I don't like the texture unless its finely chopped like in dinuguan. Honestly I think I'd be a little bitch when it comes to weird food but the only crazy things I've eaten were cow tongue/stomach/intestines and when I first found out what I was actually eating I was a bit surprised but didn't think too much of it. I tried this once, I'm sure its not really considered that weird but it was an expirience. I've eaten alot of different kinds of meat, people I know from northern Canada regularly eat stuff like moose, wolf, bear all of which tastes relatively similar so that's not weird at all to me but I'm not sure that its available alot of places. One thing I don't think I could stomach is insects, I've had cricket and that was far enough along the insect eating road for me...

This might be me remembering incorrectly (as I remember hearing it while back), but don't fish not interpret pain like we do (as in, the fish knows it's being injured, but it doesn't feel, "Pain," if you know what I mean). I think I remember seeing it on Animal Planet, or something. As for me, the weirdest thing was Ox Heart. It tasted rare (and bloody...), even though it appeared rather well-done. Edit: A lot of stuff that I considered decently normal are mentioned here... I've also had: Crocodile (my favorite meat EVER, BY FAR), Ostrich, Squid (and a shit ton of it...), Octopus ink on pasta, Ants (this one isn't that normal...), some grubworm things that live inside roots of trees in central Australia, and chicken blood soup. If you EVER get the chance to eat crocodile, do it. It has a fishy-texture, but taste likes AMAZING CHICKEN (because they're dinosaurs) Second Edit: On April 16 2011 02:14 Omnipresent wrote: I've had alligator, which I assume tastes similar to crocodile. Do you care about the animals at the zoo? Do you care about the fishes in the aquariums? If you cared a whole lot about animals then perhaps you should kill yourself because every day a number of species die due to human encroachment. The whole question of animal welfare is such a moot point. All I know is that meat is a necessity but frying an animal alive is not.

I recently discovered a sushi bar in my small town, since then I've been going the menu up&down trying everything, because it's so tasty. =) Anyway on the counter they have these boxes of seaweed salad, with all these vibrant colors from bright green to purple, covered with sesame and some dark dressing. That neon green stuff looks so tasty and since it's made by the same japanese people that invented sushi it must be good..right? Well, I really tried to eat it (it was somewhat expensive after all), but after only a few pieces I had to give up. It's a absolutely disgusting taste, that I can't even describe. Worst thing about it, it made me burp for hours with the taste always coming back..and I only ate like 4-5 hand long leafs..most effective burp agent ever, if the taste wasn't so bad it would actually be fun. xD Another thing was squid or octopus (dunno, was only tentacle xD) from the same sushi place, but I couldn't eat it..that stuff was made out of rubber. Chewed for minutes without success, gave up, nothings worth that much effort. Makes me wonder how many people choke to death every year from fried squid rings. They must be like those old six pack plastic rings, that kill fish, but for people. xD On April 16 2011 10:48 TALegion wrote: This might be me remembering incorrectly (as I remember hearing it while back), but don't fish not interpret pain like we do (as in, the fish knows it's being injured, but it doesn't feel, "Pain," if you know what I mean). I think I remember seeing it on Animal Planet, or something. Well, after a short while even a fish must realize that it's eaten alive when it feels more and more heavy injuries/missing bodyparts everywhere, unless they're really dumb. Don't know about you, but even without pain it would certainly be enough to freak me out, gettin' eaten alive..a terrifying thought..

I've had beef tongue, ox tail, ox knuckle, ox liver, pig legs/knuckle, pig ears, pig/cow intestines, frogs, raw beef, fried scorpions, octopus, duck/pig blood, swan, pigeon, sea cucumber, duck feet, jellyfish, snails, various types of mushrooms, certain bugs, turtle, squid, eels. edit: and crocodile I might have had a bite of dog once, but I don't remember. Strangely though, I haven't tried stinky tofu or any of those egg-type things.

5.) Labskaus (German stew consisting of everything that fell down near the kitchen during the past week) 4.) Fried insects (quite popular in Southeast Asia for unknown reasons) 3.) Haggis (Scottish national dish, also used as an insult for obvious reasons) 2.) Chilli-cheese hot dog with bacon-flavor from a food court in Louisville, Kentucky (contains equal parts of plastic, quicksilver, and synthetic flavors) 1.) -Raw Horse (in Japan) -Diamond Back Rattle snake (in Texas, my home state) -Freshly killed octopus (Japan again) -Natto in Japan (not necessarily odd but god aweful(its fermented soy beans(fermented is being kind to it, its more like rotting soy beans)) -Crocodile -Emu (a friend's family raised them) -I attempted the nearly born bird (I think the Filipino above me mentioned the proper name for it), but could not actually eat it. edit: Kangaroo hardly qualifies. It's readily available in supermarkets here these days and it's an incredible meat. Ultra lean, super nutritious, many of the cooking properties of good beef with a richer more complex flavour that goes incredibly well with both western game sauces and south-east-asian citrus, soy and chili styles.

Fish, piglet eyeballs (that came with the entire body) are quite normal since we usually get the whole thing anyways. Chicken livers and bladders? A mixed-rich place nearby cooks them with vegetables. Standard. :D Ostrich is really delicious. Had them when I was really young. Now my father doesn't go back to the farm. Pigeon really tastes like chicken (hate that phrase but no surprise here). Tried bull penis and testicles (boiled in soup not fried). ERrr I've got a feeling it wasn't too fresh since I don't expect many people to eat it but I'm not too sure. But it wasn't smelly or anything, but I'm sure it was the testicles after googling it and seeing a cross section. I'm kind if neutral but I won't be trying too hard to drive to that place again. It's near Petaling Street btw. I didn't get to try insects or worms or snake or any good stuff like crocs or kangaroos yet though ![]() The weirdest thing to me is why squid ink tastes so good? Dog , cockroach, snake, locust, rotten duck fetus are the ones fresh in mind. Dog, duck fetus and cockroach was the worst dishes i've ever tried. Imagine what fried shit tastes and your getting close. Dog was kind of wiry and reminded me of "wet dog". I guess its similiar to the taste you get after biting a wet dog when you play around. I guess some of the norwegian dishes are kind of odd aswell. Rakfisk. Rotten fish. We bury it for a couple of months before we eat it. Smalahove. The picture speaks for itself. + Show Spoiler + ![]()

Ostrich steaks, it's like white meat and red meat in one dish the taste is exquisite. Other than that I like to eat steamed cow intestines (tripe) as well. My favorite strange food has to be de-boned duck feet that are softened up in some kind of solution and served cold with some green onion. Anyone know what I'm talking about? From what I know you aren't supposed to freeze the fish - it ruins the texture and the colour. When we have sashimi at home it's usually 6-30 hours dead depending on how locally it was caught - living next to a fishing port is good. The weirdest thing I really enjoy would be grilled eel. Weirdest things I've tried: fresh-caught rabbit, cow tongue, some kind of blood cake, a "chocolate cheeseburger", baby octopus (cooked until rubber blegh), a few random plants that grew near my first school and had sweet nectar or stems (and were known to be non-poisonous). I didn't realise ostrich seemed so weird to people. It's a bit like lean steak. Pidgeons are quite like quails iirc, it's been a few years but I had some when we went to visit my grandmother once.

You won't really find pigeon or rabbit in most restaurants, though they can be found in good Chinese restaurants as well as in Asian or gourmet supermarkets. I think people are just averse to eating cute bunnies, since they've become more known as pets these days. And people probably carry a stigma about pigeon being a city bird, but yeah you basically only buy the farm-raised ones.

brains, hooves, stomach, lungs, eyeballs, whole heads even of cows and sheep and goats. Chicken heads, feet, intestines, hearts, well pretty much everything on a chicken exept for the feathers. Even bones are chewed into powder like substance. Some eat cats, dogs, and even baboon meat which share most of our dna but it is ironically for most of them a sin to eat pork because its 'dirty meat'. Some of its pretty good though. Other weird things ive eaten are mopane worms (fat beetle larvae) locusts, buffalo, giraffe, snake and camel. Also if you ever get offered warthog, koedoe (kudu) or rooibok (red buck) jerky or biltong as its called here, do yourself a favour and just try it. You will literally eat that shit till your jaw hurts. So good!

Among the things I have eaten: Grilled Dog Pig Blood pudding Pig Blood stew Hooves Deer Pheasant Pigeon Testicles Squid innards Goats Eyes Pretty much every single bit of Lamb/Goat/Chicken/Pork/Beef including brain a couple times. Camel Burger/Curry/Steak Scorpion A couple types of worms, forget which types they where. Grilled Rat Rat meat rice cake Bone Marrow broth Ants Friend bugs or various sorts. Balut. Which is an egg that has started to grow a chicken inside. So there is a little bit of blood/guts/meat/feet/beak and even a feather or two inside the egg, but most of it is still the raw egg stuff you get in a normal egg, with a developing embryo. A lot of horrible combination of normal ingredients. Example, one thing I quite like is Vanilla Sponge cake, with cheese and Mayonnaise lol. Curry Coffee, no seriously, it has curry in it. Apple pie with curry sauce, that's quite nice. That's all I can think of for now. I've eaten loads of other things lol. I am willing to try anything once, and I wouldn't turn my nose at food unless I've given it a fair chance. I've only puked once eating a food, and that was a tin of Delmonte Plumed Tomatoes lmao! I f***ing hate plumed tomatoes, they make me want to puke. I can eat a brin stew, top with testicles and a Balut to wash it down, but I couldn't eat a plumed tomato.

I don't think there is a translation for it. It is not common here anymore, I ate it at my great grandma once. It is a kind of soup that basically consists of a huge amount of swine blood and meat garbage with a few spices, and was a way of recycling what you had left over after slaughtering back in the days. I was born in Scotland and was fed a lot of haggis as a kid. Probably why my butt is so hairy as an adult :-/ Haggis seems to have a notorious sort of wrap since it is not common to use the entire 'pluck' of an animal is sausage, but when you think about most sausage it is pretty tame. Do you guys realize how they make chicken nuggets for McDonald's? Haggis is tame compared to that.

I can understand octopus to a greater extent, but squid? Fried calamari is such a pub/bar food. Even though it's usually frozen crap, it's on so many North American and European menus.

I like to try things, even if I do not like it I have at least tasted it. The experience of new flavors is amazing at times sometimes it is not but missing out on it is not worth it. Oysters is one of the best tasting things I have ever eaten, which is raw shellfish. Not to weird in western society but its hardly fresh pasta. Somethings that are weird like brains etc. is very cheap and environmentally friendly as they are not thrown away.
