Crisis in Japan - Page 18
Forum Index > General Forum |
Thread is about the various issues surrounding Japan in the aftermath of the recent earthquake. Don't bring the shit side of the internet to the thread, and post with the realization that this thread is very important, and very real, to your fellow members. Do not post speculative and unconfirmed news you saw on TV or anywhere else. Generally the more dramatic it sounds the less likely it's true.

(Source NHK, reposted) Edit: Although that should have no real effect on the safety at the moment, since the Reactor has shut down automatically as the quake hit.

I think it means that it could have possibly over heated. But a melt down is some way down the scale I would expect. If there was a big melt down, they would hopefully would have been aware of it by now

The water claimed the land like it was nothing. In a place where tsunami is common, people know it is a big one when the rail lines are delayed or closed, as they were today. Hawaii is on high alert for the opposite wave.

No, the reactors should have already been shutdown.

No, since the reactor is already shut down. Modern nuclear plants are pretty safe in that regard. The cooling system is necessary for continued operation though, so it won't come online again anytime soon.
