Home camera video footage of someone in Sendai as the earthquake hit. Scary stuff.
Crisis in Japan - Page 17

Thread is about the various issues surrounding Japan in the aftermath of the recent earthquake. Don't bring the shit side of the internet to the thread, and post with the realization that this thread is very important, and very real, to your fellow members. Do not post speculative and unconfirmed news you saw on TV or anywhere else. Generally the more dramatic it sounds the less likely it's true.

What I fear the most isn't Japan but the small isles on Pacific which are so low that the tsunami waves can fully sweep over them. Nauru, Guam etc. there countries have no way to protect themselves

The latest aftershocks are reported to be up to a 7.0 magnitude. Aftershocks are less powerful than the original quake, however the location often changes as immense residual stresses in the ground caused by the original are relieved. The altered location can often lead to significant damage especially if the shock is closer to the surface. EDIT: As was seen in Christchurch, the aftershock induced much greater forces in CBD than the original quake, due to the close proximity of the epicentre. So for all the poor people on the ground, the aftershock could quite easily be considered "more powerful".

Kenichi hears that Tokyo Disneyland, right on Tokyo Bay, is beginning to get flooded. This is freaky stuff, I don't like it one bit. Sendai Airport is basically under water. Now it is be esitamted that some the waves of the Tsunami might be happier than some of the pacific islands?!
