a dedicated police officer who along with his family suffered tragedy after tragedy, but still has hope for his city
a man who gave up everything most men would die for, in exchange to prevent tragedys befalling others and becoming a symbol of fear to those who would harm innocents
a deranged madman who cannot be understood or second guessed, looking at the vigilante he set a trap for, all for fun in his mind
a corrupt officer who cares nothing for anyone, money is his only motive.
a security guard, a bystand to the night of chaos and terror that is about to be unleashed, he, like many others, will most likely not survive to see the next day

Just don't. Please.
This will be my last post regarding this thread's integrity as I feel I've reached uncomfortable levels of backseat moderating.
A picture to make enduring my complaining worthwile. This is one of the very first media images I remember seeing in my life, though I can't recall whether it was on TV or in a newspaper.

The point is to make you think about reality, but it doesn't necessarily follow that the stimulus itself has to be 'real'. The graphic vid I posted, for example, illustrates our insignificance in the universe - what you're suggesting is that I have to actually travel to the stars and take photographs for that point to be valid, which is absurd.
And yes, a joke to lighten the mood can be a wonderful thing.
But...

It's amazing how foreign the earth seems when you simply change perspective. Also, it gives you a glimpse of just how biased/inaccurate our sense of geography is when you take into account how maps warp landsizes near the poles.
I'm a Geomatics Engineering student and we learn about this stuff very early in our program. There are many many different map projections that can represent many different things, for example- (I'm spoilering all of this stuff accept the last projection because to me it says a 1000 words, if you want to learn why, then read through my stuff. I just don't want to clog up this thread.) + Show Spoiler +*note* + Show Spoiler + these are just a couple out of hundreds of possible projections, and all of these projections have mathematical formulas which can be simple or incredibly complex, most are simple though Mercator- Classified as a conformal cylindrical projection. Became the "standard" map projection because it preserves angles and straight lines, making it very useful for early sailors and navigators. + Show Spoiler +Gall-Peters- Classified as an equal-area projection. Preserves area. There was some controversy behind this projection because of the political implications this map produces. Some wanted the "standard" map to be changed to this map because it represents all the countries accurately by size. I know Canada likes to use this projection because it doesn't make the NW passage look giant like the Mercator does. + Show Spoiler +Azimuthal Equidistant Projection- Just as the name states, this is classified as an Azimuthal Equidistant projection. Distance and direction is conserved only from the center point of the map. This is used in airports to find the shortest distance and proper direction to another city. You will also find this map projection if you look at the UN emblem. + Show Spoiler +![[image loading]](http://d1ftgt94wd5jml.cloudfront.net/2010/proj_azimuthaleqd.png) from the north pole to any point on this map will be the correct distance and bearing. Werner projection- Classified as a Pseudoconic. This projection is an equal area projection, same thing as the Gall-Peters, but with a cooler distortion of shape. This is my favorite projection, you can figure out why.

There is a performance aspect to this that is undeniable and akin to art.
Heres the video if anyone is interested (starts at 0:14) + Show Spoiler + Translation from french: Omar incarnates the perfect role of "freeman", a man free in the middle of the elements. While he rushes down at a speed of 250 km/h(155 mph), he gives the impression of calmly floating in the sky. In this display of Man's oldest dream finally realized, we almost forget the thousands of training jumps required to reach such perfection.
just for fun heres my first skydiving jump :p + Show Spoiler +

I'm not sure how you think my reply was starting a debate,
I was just saying the picture meant a 1000 words to me, fair enough it's not 'real' but it still has meaning to me, but yes I shouldn't have posted it anyway seems as people love to express their opinion needlessly when they are correct.
