I guess thats the whole point of the picture, to not steryotype them as monsters, they were people like us, standing and dying for their country. Sure their boss was a complete douche, but that doesn't mean they aren't exactly like us and can't enjoy a snowball fight or two. | ||

I'm, in sincere honesty, moved by the effect on the photographer must have been. From the little I know about 19th century photography, it involved extremely long exposures. From that I understand the photographer would have to stand, not just in full view but smell,of fetid corpses rotting in the the fields. That is a terrifying and powerful contemplation on what they went through to capture those images. | ||
