I dunno, somehow i doubt they would look it trough the fingers if us or any other country would invade NK.
As i posted couple post up, China clearly has some love for nk, if they are willing to do business with them.

Didn't they just reveal a new underground nuke facility? I would have expected there to be at least a couple of months before they pull something like this. They always need to do something every now and then to ensure that we remember that they're still around. But this was pretty sudden.
Edit: And pretty drastic. I never really understood NK foreign policy. It's like a disgruntled teenager. Bitch, moan, scream, yell until the adults give you a cookie just to shut you up for a while.

Don't know if this has been posted yet, but this is an interesting comparison of how the two countries' conventional armed forces measure up if shit were to hit the fan.

They don't have them (officially or unofficially), but the US (which is a very close ally of South Korea, and has 30,000+ troops there) does.

SK NK Conventional Armed Forces Graphic Very interesting. Does anyone know of a graph that shows how much the US has compared to that? I've always wondered how much the US has in terms of troops and weaponry.

And as an allie of South Korea the US would never want to drop nukes within a couple hundered km of South Korea. The fallout would sersiouly harm the country.

China would have something to say about dropping atombomb to NK. And even Japan..

SK NK Conventional Armed Forces Graphic That can be misleading, as you have to factor in massive technological differences. NK may have 18,000 artillery pieces but none of them are computer controlled. North Korea has no stealth capability, or modern air to air missles. They do have decent SAM systems, but should be quite vulnerable to the F-22, as their radar is several generations behind. The US would presumably become involved in any Korean conflict. There would be massive loss of life from both sides, and it would be an unfortunate and terrible war, but that picture is nto really an accurate representation of relative military strength.

Anyone else noticed that there are no city names of NK in google maps?

I hate war... But North Korea needs their ass kicked... USA Style....
Its terrible because im sure the civilian population of North Korea is just doing as they are told... But it changes nothing... South Korea is a great place and frankly... Kim Jong Il fucks with my GSL... Ill go shoot him myself... Spoiled stupid little bitch.

I actually found this very surprising, I saw a similar one in the main article linked in the OP. I am surprised NK has a larger military in virtually every aspect. Although If I had to guess, I'd say they probably have worse quality shit.
On that note, the graph I saw showed SK winning in aircraft.

Yupp, just putting number against each other is pretty silly. On the other hand the graph also doesn't show covert or irregular capabilities which NK has dramatically increased in recent years. If you want the detailed report on the presumed strength of NKs forces including invasion scenarios and how they would likely play out here is some reading (which all the arm chair generals in this thread should finish before continuing posting irrelevant hardware nerdisms):

I remember I was in the US, watching the news. An amercan spy plane had just crashedlanded on chinese soil after being caught..the only thing i could see on the screen was graphics, stars and stripes, and a woman with to much make up talking about heroism by the US pilots for not dying in the crash. They bumped by accident when saying hello midflight Nobody said anything about spying haha..until I watched neutral news in Europe ofc This was american CNN..it really scares me knowing what kind of partial news people are being fed. 60 minutes, and other stuff is great though.

Absolutely ridiculous. North Korea wants to pick a fight with the United States, with China. They want to pick a fight with basically every super power. It's a joke. In one of my courses we've watched a couple of videos on North Korea. The country is kept in the dark. People blindly worship their "great leader" without having any idea what he is really up to. You almost feel sorry for them. The few that wise up and know what is really going on have basically no chance in hell of escaping to China or South Korea.

Kim Jong ill is dying and has a Nuclear missile control hooked up to his life support, if he dies all of NK nukes will be launched, think of it as Saw 3, except this time with nukes.
In all seriousness, this is insane, why would NK even consider of attempting something like this.
They are signing there own death wish, unless there is a super alliance kept secret and every super power is going to target us.

It sucks for the familys of those who have died in this mess, but the best thing for S.korea do would be to cover there eyes and pretend like nothing happened. Nothing good can come from conflict with the north.

Well no other country is trading with NK except China (I think), so NK won't do anything too out of line. However I heard that the island they attacked was some sort of fishing grounds or something (idk) probably to scare them off so they can fish there?. Also if no one is trading with them then they're low on resources. Which could mean that they may or may not starve to death in the near future. So they would get more desperate than they already are right now, and may attack SK for resources. In terms of using nukes i don't think anyone would use nukes unless absolutely necessary (This point will probably not be reached), because if they nuke SK then NK would feel the effects and vice versa. Personally I don't think anything would happen unless China fully endorses NK's actions. The tensions would be high but there wouldn't be anything major happen unless NK fully commits.
Anyways thats what I discussed during lunch with my friends.

Its so frustrating watching this happen. Every now and then, North Korea decides to kill some people. What can be done?
