Not sure but I think the d1001's were discontinued just recently in favor of the AH-D1100 and AH-D510R.

I just bought the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Go! Pro USB Sound Card and I'm pretty impressed

Using it with my HA-RX900, it really helped clean up the sound muffled from the larger bass

I'm glad I made the purchase

Only thing is... I don't know how to control the sound volume on it D:
I tried but it doesn't seem to work...

I just bought the AD700 and I think it sucks for Kpop. But the AD700 is good for live music because of the great soundstage. The music feels too far away for me to enjoy kpop with. It's good for starcraft though.

anyone ever heard of Skullcandy headphones?
Have you ever heard the story, about the Zergling and the Probe? The Probe didn't make it across the creep.

Well the AD700 is open so that's probably why :>
The HD555 is also open so I think the "openness" would still be there
Haven't tried either though so haha

I am looking for a new headphone and I read half of this thread but still didnt figure out which headphone is good for me.
Basically, I want something around $100 that I can carry outside with my portable mp3 player and computer use. I know headphone doesnt work with well with mp3 player since the player doesnt have enough power to feed the headphone, but I want it anyway.
I'm currently looking at a Sony MDR XB-700...
Can you guys recommend me some?
Thanks a lot in advance

EpiK, if you're new to headphones, I think it'd a bad idea to spend a shitton of money when you can get something that sounds the same that costs 8 times less.

any recommendations?

I'm looking for something with decent bass (not too overbearing like the beats) and just sounds clean overall. I would probably want something that's closed, over-the-ear and very comfortable. As for style, I kinda want the dj headphones-look, the kind you see on japanese people a lot, but not too big like these lol. I've looked everywhere on amazon for headphones that match that description but have had no luck.

Also, something else I didn't mention is that I get an employee discount so I could get the B&W p5's for like $150. I mean it doesn't match the style i'm looking for but they have that "clean sound" I want and the padding feels incredible on the ears. Should I just get these or do you guys know of a headphone that matches the description above exactly, and falls within that $150-200 range?

While the DJ up there seems to know his stuff (I respect anyone with an HD-25), most DJ's use overpriced junk from Pioneer or some silver Sony headphones. DJ's have very little concept of sound quality, they seem to prefer loud.

Anyway, I am thinking of buying a Stax SRS-2050 set. I heard the 404-LE's from a higher-end Stax amp as well, which to me was the best I have ever heard. The Omega 2's might be even better, but honestly I could hardly imagine. I would love to get my hands on a set of those baby Stax SR-202's, and I am trying to sell my Audio Technica W-5000 and Meier Audio Arietta to finance them.

Anyone else have any experience with these Stax?

Here's my current setup:

My main criteria for choosing that set was prominent bass, a closed design, and comfortable. The velour pads are amazingly comfortable compared to leather. Needless to say, I read around Headfi for weeks before dropping the coin on them.

The HD25s are the industry standard for djs, but those 'silver sony' (if you're referring to the MDR-v700, which is another popular choice for DJs) are actually really good. They are rock solid, have great isolation, fold into a small ball for easy carrying and, although more bass-heavy and hyped than the HD-25s, actually sound decent. Definitely a good choice for djing.

I've used various pairs of headphones for my DJing and I found that the choice (for me) was pretty much between the HD-25s and the MDR-v700s, but the Sony's provide better isolation so have been my pick over several years.

For listening at home, however, I prefer and open or semi-open set (or my IEMs) and have quite a few different pairs of sennheisers, sonys, ATs, Beyers, etc, but my favourites at the moment are definitely my Superlux HD668B. Ridiculously good value (at ~£27) and equally good (and in some cases preferable) to headphones in the £200 range.

Nice to be respected.
Only bad thing I can say about them is that they don't look as good as other headphones in the same price bracket.
Everything else is pretty close to perfect. Sound, comfort and being closed so they leak almost no sound and also take in very little noise from the outside. (they do eat through mp3 player batteries like a beast :D (70 ohm is not to be played with.) I've had mine for over 6 years now. And I changed earpads about 2-3 years ago and it seems to be time to change them again.

By the way aren't Tastosis using HD25 + mic when casting or are my eyes playing tricks with me?

PS. I wasn't sure how to vote, I wouldn't say these are midrange but I don't have a separate amp for them so...

Sorry for the delay

I'd probably be able to ask for anywhere between $500-700, They'd definitely have to be closed, as my computer is in the living room and there's lots of background noise XD.

From my experience, nothing blocks outside noise better than a pair of In-ear monitors (IEM), which means they go into your ear canals like ear plugs. I use a pair of Ultimate Ears Super.Fi 5 Pro. Granted, these are not the highest-end IEMs, but they are still far above most others when it comes to sound quality and isolation. These cost about 200 euros (~270 USD). The top models are significantly more expensive, but then we're talking custom molds for your ears.

I bought these to block noise when commuting, and this they do better than I could ever have imagined. The main difference between IEMs and regular headphones is that these block the noise (like ear plugs, duh), while with regular headphones you have to turn up the volume to cover the surrounding noise. It never ceases to amaze me when commuting during rush hour. No more noise, only my music, crisp and clear.

However, I don't know how good IEMs are for e.g. long gaming sessions (I've never gamed in a noisy environment). A minor downside is that you have to regularly clean IEMs. Also, finding the right tips that best suit your ears can be tough. Additionally, not everyone can get used to having something shoved in their ears.

Please note that I'm not what I would call an enthusiast. To me this implies a vast knowledge of headphone technology and so on. I just decided that I would invest for once, and I haven't been disappointed. My main problem was outside noise. This problem was completely solved by IEMs.

Edit: Here's a picture

Using speakers , and listen to Ipod while gaming . If I listen to songs by Slayer I somehow play better and have high apm . I dislike headphones since I have long hair so if I use headphones I have the whole time hair in my eyes ( great to blow hair out of ur eyes to even see the game or not be annoyed by it ) .

I can suggest Denon AH-D5000. If you can push for an Audio-Technica ATH-W1000X, it's a step up.

Shure SRH-840 is pretty cheap and competent if you want more money invested in the source/amp.

This thread is pretty helpful. I just have some $10 sony sport style headphones that are great for going on runs with my MP3 player but as much time as I spend using them I may as well spend ~$60 on something decent.

Anyone else hate earbuds? They always fall out of my ears so I can only use headphones pretty much.

edit: People posting pictures without saying what the headphones are called is kinda annoying imo.
