Oh god my sister just sent me some ATH-M50's for X-mas but told me not to open it until she visits the family over here.
Why.
Why.

What makes the first headphones you posted not portable? They don't have to be portable, as I may just spend $25 on some in-ear buds for on the go, but just wondering. Also, do I need to purchase a new sound card to make these actually sound okay with my computer? I heard USB headphones it doesn't matter which sound card you have. Any help is appreciated.

Well technically everything is "portable", but you'll look like a giant goofball with those cans on your head as they are quite big.
What is your source now?
Edit: I'm guessing since you want portability you're primarily playing off an mp3 player?
Edit 2: This thread should help you immensely: http://www.head-fi.org/t/433318/shootout-96-portable-headphones-reviewed-v-moda-m-80-added-11-27-11
Edit 4: After listening to that track you linked, I agree with the guy who recommended the AKG 518DJs.

Just got myself a SRH-550DJ.
Pretty sweet sounding headphones. Absolutely loving it.

Any of you guys know how good headphones manufacturers like sennheisers are about repairing broken headphones?
I used to have HD555 and one of the drivers ended up dying, didn't bother sending it back because I don't know how much it would cost. Are the repair fees reasonable?

I don't think I'd go with the Denons if your source is just a laptop (no amp). Additionally, I don't think I've ever seen them around $200. If you do find them around $200 I would jump on them and pick up a DAC/Amp like this (http://www.amazon.com/FiiO-E10-USB-Headphone-Amplifier/dp/B005VO7LG6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1323382919&sr=8-1). The Denons are known to be quite bassy, and bassy underpowered cans sound pitiful.

Would anyone be able to recommend me a decent amp to accompany my HD 598's? I've been looking at FIIO's E10 amp and it seemed pretty good. I'm a fairly big newbie when it comes to audio equipment so I figured I'd post in this fabulous thread before I decide upon one.

What type of music do you listen to? And, do you mind carrying a small DAC/Amp around with you?

If the employee initially rejects you, tell them you hear that they sold it for $200. They'll ask the manager and he'll say yes.

I don't even look at the impedance/tech specs when recommending headphones. In my opinion all the technical specs are useless in comparing cans, it's all about personal experience/accounts from people who own them. I've heard many times that 600ohm cans sound better than 32ohm cans unamped (when comparing the Beyer line), which is so counter intuitive to me that I just disregard all technical specs now.
Also, it's not just about driving the headphones. Every source can drive every set of heaphones, it's about how full the sound is, if the source is reaching the headphone's full potential, and if the user likes the sound coming out of the headphones.
The Denon's will be fine, but if you're a dubstep junkie like me, you'd want an amp for subterranean bass.
