As stated above, post the way you get your natural high. Of course, we all can say we smoke the best, dank, fluffy, light green, sticky icky bud but we all know we gotta stop that sooner or later or at least keep it in moderation :D I'm finding myself lost because I used to get my natural high's after each practice/meet during cross country in high school - it felt like I was on top of the world, even though I wasn't a fast runner really (2.4 miles in about 22 minutes was my best time, with hills etc). I felt untouchable after each run, I felt healthy and active.. but now being a sophomore in college, I might just get back to running.. because the other ways are getting habitual and bad for me lol
So my top natural high's are by..
- Seeing the good grade on paper after knowing I studied (which is rare, I wish I had the motivation to keep it throughout the whole course.. sigh) - After a good run/weight lifting session, even if I don't feel/see results, it's good to know I'm putting my body to work and keeping it healthy - Eating a big huge meal and then sleeping (bad habit .. even worse when you have the munchies/buzzed from alcohol) - Sex/Masturbation (lets be adults here) - Being complimented for looks, effort, etc. Even the smallest remark can stick with me and boost my ego throughout my day - Eating while watching a good 1v1 play/obs makes me feel special that two people are putting on a show. for the observers, and themselves so it works out lol
Whats yours?
|
weed
Haha just kidding... but it is natural, so not really. -Nice weather at the beach or park and relaxing all day -Helping other people -Enjoying good company (good times on the reg) -Picking up girls / sex -Good food -Dogs -Sports (football, basketball, snowboarding, golf, tennis, footbag, disc, etc etc. Both playing and watching)
|
after running/sports is always good. although it often provides itself as an excuse to do nothing for quite awhile afterword....
and sleeping after eating is the greatest thing ever.
|
Oh snap you should definitely get back into running through a club or something.
I love the high after running a really good race or after a really good work out. The more competitive the event the better. This last year a few good friends and I would be the only ones racing in 110 hurdles because a few schools in our league didn't have m/any hurdlers and it was soooo fun!
Just thinking about T&F meets makes me QQ that I'm leaving for college soon.
Also, being able to finish a XC race with an all-out sprint and passing someone along the way is always great haha

Weed is natural amirite? Noob.
1. Sex. 2. Soccer. 3. Watching Soccer. 4. Epic games of SC, play or watch. 5. Hot shower after going all out in a sport... Fuck so good. 6. Being clean. 7. That dizzy but not nauseating feeling when you are about to go to sleep in your bed after a day of drinking. 8. Pokemon Puzzle League and Soul Calibur 2 epic matches. 9. Bisu. 10. Being told good things about myself from relative strangers, regardless of whether they are serious or drunk or whatever. When a girl tells me she finds me attractive I feel good and I strategize for sex to be imminent. See #1.
(not in any specific order).

A couple others..
- Dogs definitely bring out the best in me too.. - That room-turning/light feeling (but not dizzy as you said) after a night of drinking is the best. - Passing someone during a xc race was awesome, or knowing you aren't gonna be last (I was my first two years b/c i was so chubby to run lol) - Laughing til it hurts/tickles your stomach.. but it's rare nowadays for me, it's gotta be the right thing and the right person to be laughing with haha

After a workout I feel great, because I feel like I accomplished something.
Winning a comeback game in Madden (nothing is better than throwing a 40 yd bomb to Andre Johnson with 5 seconds left in the game). I guess a comeback win in any game that I play. Winning normally makes me feel good, but to know you had to fight extra hard to get that win always makes it so much more special. And knowing that had you made just one mistake down the stretch the game was over, but you played perfectly near the end and overcame all your mistakes early on. I don't know if there's anything that makes me feel better than that.
The NFL season.
There's probably more that I can't think of now. I guess sex/masturbation like everyone else said, but once I'm done I'm not "high" so much as I am just content.

it impacts on me a lot actually because so many idiots were brought up with this idea so strongly, anyone who doesn't live up to their individual standards is seen to be offensive, rude, miserable etc.
i have experienced SO SO many times people getting offended because i didnt match their "number of polite spoken words" . its PATHETIC. there are maybe 20 staff on where i work, and during a 12 hour shift there is so much needless nonsesense that people get upset about if you dont adhear with it: passing someone in a narrow corridor (this doesnt warrant a fucking conversation and these stupid "jokes" that people make ceaselessly) . you know there is at least 1 person where i work who might say "hello" to me.....14 times in 1 day?????????????
people are groomed to be offended by "naughty words" people are also groomed to say and think certain things mindlessly, and they are groomed to feel upset and offended when certain idiot expectations are not conformed to

When you do something for someone and they say "thanks" and smile, you feel good. When you say "no problem" and smile back, they feel better too. Maybe it just doesn't impact you as much or maybe you are too young/callous/old/independent/emo/whatever, but it makes me happy. it impacts on me a lot actually because so many idiots were brought up with this idea so strongly, anyone who doesn't live up to their individual standards is seen to be offensive, rude, miserable etc. i have experienced SO SO many times people getting offended because i didnt match their "number of polite spoken words" . its PATHETIC. there are maybe 20 staff on where i work, and during a 12 hour shift there is so much needless nonsesense that people get upset about if you dont adhear with it: passing someone in a narrow corridor (this doesnt warrant a fucking conversation and these stupid "jokes" that people make ceaselessly) . you know there is at least 1 person where i work who might say "hello" to me.....14 times in 1 day????????????? people are groomed to be offended by "naughty words" people are also groomed to say and think certain things mindlessly, and they are groomed to feel upset and offended when certain idiot expectations are not conformed to What gave you the idea that socializing with people you do not know does not have rules for conduct? This is common knowledge, and simply because you disagree with it doesn't change the world around you. People expect to be thanked for acts of generosity, and know to say that it was a good act by saying "no problem" or "you're welcome." This is normal society. People with any sense of decency do this, not only because they are "forced to" by the rules of social interaction, but because they have the decency to do so. If people were given an option to say thank you, many would still say it (even though in reality, it still is an option). You clearly wouldn't. You need to grow up. End of story. so..er..what you just said was that since i dont say please and thankyou as much as you (a tool) then i "need to grow up" first 6 lines of your reply are useless, then you say "people say retarded things a lot because they are decent" sorry but my idea of decency is silent, no-bullshit mutual respect and not a measure of how persistantly loud (and mindless) i am , or how nice my smile is* *yes this is extremely important
hahahahahahah you have wild and crazy ideas

Meditation (look up zazen on wikipedia), music and specially live concerts, FirebatHero cerimonies, reading Kafka, the few seconds when you're about to make out with a girl who's asking for it, fullfilling my own weird food desires that happen somewhat frequently - you know, when you see someone at TV eating a whooper or something and you just HAVE TO DO IT.
Non-natural highs would make this list gigantic.

Swimming in the sea at sunrise (in Romania the seaside is to the east so we get sunrises in water). And a lot of other things but this is one of the best.
Also fanatacist I think you're putting to much heart into this thread. And saying that that guy is one-dimensional because he only listed three things is kinda lame. There are a lot of things that make me FEEL GOOD, but only a handful that actually gives me a "natural high". And grabbing ass isn't one of them, for example. Does that make me one-dimensional also?

Nice thread. I'm interested in the idea of a contrast to this for a thread: what things in life most people enjoy that you get no pleasure from.
Anyway, back to this thread:
- a girl turning her head to get a second look at me (ego boost!) - people yelling out my name when I arrive at a party - a slab of Sockeye Salmon - that first instant when I say to myself, "Yeah, I'm buzzed" (it's not natural, but it's awesome!) - getting my paycheck - getting an A on an exam I was sure I had bombed - orgasms - coming home to an ice cold drink I hid in the back of the fridge - looking up at the stars on a clear night - cranking up the volume for my favorite tracks
|
The moment I arrive at the International Airport getting ready for a flight overseas. It is such an awesome feeling of freedom and happyness that lasts in it's peak until the plane starts to take off.

so true. Especially where I live I see literally no one at 4am when I'm driving around. Makes me feel like the only person alive or something and it's so relaxing.
I also enjoy running until I collapse from it for some reason. Really nice to feel the body pushed to its limits
