Video of Senya - Higanbana by 17VA: got an A by mashing buttons. This is extremely hard for me though, and the play showed some of my recent improvement. That's why I still uploaded it. The end is pretty painful to watch though, lol. | ||

So I want some advice. Currently I'm playing with a mechanical keyboard with reds. Bobbias, what do you play mania with? Do you have experience with other types of keyboards? Cyro, do you happen to know some good ones you could recommend? Price doesn't really matter, but it should be a really really good keyboard for me to spend 300€ for example. | ||

Did you think about >60hz monitors? The decent 144hz ones are around 250 euro atm It also might work properly again with a good clean | ||

Oh wow, I didn't quite expect that.. I have played osu standard for a long time on my laptop, but after switching I was hooked and so I don't think that's the way to go for me now. Thanks anyway! Brown has been great, if i had to try another switch it would be red; caution on black/blue because of actuation force (black) and having to lift off much further before the key becomes pressable again (blue) Did you think about >60hz monitors? Black has never really been an option for me. The high resistance was quite unappealing. I didn't know blues took that long to be repressable, that may be worth looking into further, as my first choice aside from red would be blue, at least intuitively. I haven't really though about monitors. Currently I'm using my laptop screen, which seems to be all right for now. But to be completely honest, it's not optimal for my posture, so it might be worth looking for a monitor in general (so maybe one with >60hz). But then again, the scrooge in me always tells me that >60hz won't make a big difference at my skill level anyway, so I'm not sure what to do yet. | ||

----- ----- With brown, red & black you can reactivate the key after lifting only 0.1 mm (operating point vs reset point) but with blue you need to lift at least 1mm before it will register a second click. I can't really say what that'd feel like, if it's only a very minor annoyance or could be a more serious flaw The screen thing won't make you a pro player but neither will keyboard ;D | ||

Im slowly building a pc right now (I have the mobo, ssd, ram and gfx card but no case, legit windows or monitor atm). Going for a 144hz gsync monitor, not that it will likely make a huge difference given that i play FL with a reasonable scroll rate anyway, but hey why the fuck not, I have a 1070 in that thing. | ||

For keyboards, i get the impression that reds would be a very light switch. Coming from rubber dome i would bottom out everything on browns which have a significantly higher actuation force (55cn peak vs 45cn for reds before actuation), so did pretty much everyone else that tried the keyboard. It took a lot of hours to be able to type without bottoming out and wasting a lot of force. Brown is 55cn before actuation, 60cn peak when bottoming out; Black is 60cn actuation but 80cn peak bottoming out. If you press deeply that might be noticably more fatiguing but it could feel better than red if red is too light | ||

Lots of room to upgrade if I ever feel it's necessary, but so far even without the faster timings on the ram I've had no trouble playing anything I want at high settings. | ||

they're all pretty laggy and only 133hz input (especially a detriment on a 240hz screen, the cursor is only updated on about 55% of the screen refreshes!) but the ones with smoothing, especially high smoothing are extra laggy the lag penalty for smoothing might decrease with higher input registration rates, having to wait for multiple inputs at 133hz to average their movement out is a really long time to wait but with a higher update rate there could be mild smoothing without causing so much extra lag I've been waiting hopefully for wacom to release a tablet with 240hz+ update rates while keeping all of their other advantages but they're refreshed their lineup three times now since my tablet (ctl-480) and they've not only not gotten better, but arguably worse in some ways. The one that i have is one of the best if not the best. Some other tablets can probably beat it out for input lag but at the cost of some other flaws - liftoff distance, tracking accuracy, that sort of thing. I'm interested to try one out maybe. With the low-lag drivers you can offset the shakiness of the cursor by using a larger tablet area but i've been finding that the areas that allow for proper reach and muscle memory with grips that are comfortable for me are not large enough to reduce the shaking as much as i'd like. The drivers with smoothing are comfortable on much smaller areas (and cookiezi uses one even with a large area for extremely precise aim) but there is that high level of lag to tolerate compared to even the other tablet drivers and especially other input devices like a mouse. On 240hz i'd estimate that the mouse to screen cursor movement latency could be as low as ~15ms and has smooth+consistent motion with 4 polls per screen refresh but with tablet smoothing driver the amount of time that it takes for the cursor to register movement is several times longer. tl;dr: low lag, stable cursor, good area - pick two. All three when tech advances some more? Mouse is showing its advantages in smoothness and latency nano - Bull's eye [Skystar's Extra] (97.44%) 248pp ^did this w/ smoothing driver, a fun and nice score - could do 98-99% but i'm not comfortable enough to fc it regularly for acc farming. My timing slipped off a few times on the actual fc and got a bunch of chain 100's :D youtube also blocks this song so i can't show it there | ||

Cass2 - Gravity Falls Theme Song- 16 Bit Mix [Expert] +HR (100.00%) less than a minute ago 260pp short maps probably get nerfed on pp soon (and fair enough, especially the ones this short) but still happy to be able to hit that w/ HR for both the circle size and OD. | ||

I can see why pp is a better method to display skill, as I never had any business being in the top 500 of players, but ranking up through score was probably the most addictive part of the game for me and it's a little sad to see that stat is not even view-able outside the top 1000. | ||

Isn't it? Which score stat do you mean? Rank decay because of other people getting better is real too, my old rank 3188 used to be at 3768pp when i had it but now it's 6619pp. Top X rank is a quickly moving target rather than a goalpost | ||

But yeah the average player skill for this game has gone through the roof so not surprised to see the rank decay, but I can already feel that wall that I occasionally see people complain about hitting. A whole lot of practice and going no where has to happen before any sort of ranking up occurs now. | ||
