After some massive improvement i decided to play some ranked mania and saw i went down 2k (16->18k) ranks in the time i didn't play online. Never knew mania was this active.
I refreshed my top 9 of which my top 5 was above 100pp scores and am now 14k, which is nice. Ironically my top rank is a 6k map, the number of keys i play least and have like 20 plays on total, lol.
It's funny to see though that of all the people i compare top ranks with, no one has any 7k maps in it, while i have no 4k maps. That makes me feel good, although I'm not completely sure why.
My hands hurt, lol: https://osu.ppy.sh/ss/4433986 Funny how my left hand handles these things a lot better than my right hand. Apparently playing osu a few years has a bigger impact than playing the piano for 10 years.:')
Damn, since I stopped browsing TL regularly, this topic gained like 80 pages. Since then, I rose by about 3 thousand ranks. I guess that's alright. Anyway, since I'll start being more active here again, I'll just share what I've been up to. Since I've started playing osu!, all I've really been good at was streams (mainly 210-250 BPM), so I started playing hard rock in January to improve my other aspects. My progress seems to be alright so far: plays.tv
Soon I'll be able to get 200pp scores with HR, and maybe even improve my accuracy. :>
dl'd Immortal Flame (great music, i love it! :D) and first play was a bit of a trainwreck. Didn't play tablet for a while and i seemed to miss a lot. I made ar10 diff (default is 9.5) for second play^ and it's unreal how much easier it made it, must have been having a lot of trouble reading well
got this, fairly close to #1 score (1x missed higher acc that would have been #1) but actually like #4 because 98% acc. These maps take me like 100 restarts to get decent acc % because of the od10
i raised tablet sens by 1.2x after this as well, gotta get used to it. It was at 6cm per 1000 pixels, now it's at 5cm (so 5.4cm for 1080p height)
Well, I've been playing probably 80% mania lately, so my standard rank has fallen by about 7k over the last couple months. But even with no practice, I managed to set a new top play on my first standard play of the day.
Just a farm map but whatever. Mania makes you a better standard player confirmed.
I'd say the opposite, it doesn't seem like a farm map because the OD is higher than expected to anyone who actually plays it so you can't FC with very high accuracy unless you're "good enough" to do it.
High OD is one of if not the most important stat for PP but also for difficulty.
I just feel that map is rated very fairly for how hard it is - nomod, DT or HR. Sure, it gives 580pp if you SS it with DTHD, but that's od10.33 255bpm. That's, to put it bluntly, "legit as fuck" for the points that you get.
Meanwhile Cookiezi has two maps >700pp because they're long with spaced streams and od10 with a potential 800-900pp incoming. Sure that's also deserved - and over 20% higher, they're probably better plays - but it doesn't warrant significant PP nerfs to target maps like seven.

OD is important of course but the more complicated the rhythm is the more it impacts the difficulty. So if you have an incredibly simple map that's just 1/2 jumps or something going from od7 to od8 makes way less difference than an otherwise similar map that is more varied.
It is just average on that though, not incredibly technical but not excessively simple to be considered a farm map based on OD alone. Patternwise I'd say about the same, just somewhere in the middle that isn't too simple or too technical. Pomuta/Angelhoney maps are examples where stuff gets underrated quite a bit. It's a good score so grats falcon.
