The hidden regou map is insane with hidden. I doubt that will be played a lot. I don't really like the CRN map; other than that, i think the nomod picks are really good. Helloscv and natteke's maps are great for freemod. A lot of risk with hidden and doable but very hard with hr. I don't know how it was last years, but the map pool is quite high level i feel, especially in an environment were combo determines most of the score. I mean, atm i have 2 fc's in the entire map pool, even with a lot of practice on all maps specifically, i wouldn't be confident playing them to fc. Taking into account nerves and pressure, it would probably be impossible. But I guess that's why i'm watching and not playing lol. Netherlands did well against germany, but lost. Now they have to face Japan prob in loser's bracket if they win against china. I'm hoping for a hidden miracle here (looking at Big_Child), but I'm not too confident. | ||

The GER NED match was super close. I actually didn't expect Netherlands to do as well as they did since Germany's team looks really strong this year imo. Japan will be hard for sure though, main reason they're in lower bracket is because rrtyui didn't play against Sweden (and they still went 3-5 which isn't too bad). Also apparently WWW had 6/7 fcs against Korea (last map almost fc as well), what a player. Yeah, I didn't expect the NED-GER match to be that close. When you look at the players on their team, it's ridiculous. And I nearly raged during the tiebreaker. At the start of the song (around 400 or so combo) there are 2 harder jumps. I was specifically looking out for them. Íf we were to have a chance, we should ace those, and Germany should miss once. Unfortunately Big_Child and Synchrostar missed both. >.> With the maps getting harder, the difference between better (or at least more consistent) players should become more obvious, making it harder for the dutch to much anymore. http://osu.ppy.sh/s/89799 This map was used as a warming up map by some country. It's a pretty intense small stream map (2,3,4 or 5 notes), but the difficulties are at different speeds starting at 162bpm, which makes it excellent practice. First impressions are that speed and rythmical flexibility increase quite a bit. At the start I couldn't play them at all, but now it works out pretty well, even getting this result: (edited the map at lowest bpm to od9) + Show Spoiler + | ||

Supernova by dokoLP, six trillion years and overnight story by val0108 and Rohi - Kanata ni Mau wa Sakura no Shirabe by skystar. I've uploaded the latter: And there's been some significant improvement in both aim and rythmical speed: Wahrheit (saten) + dt: got a B, which is fairly nice. Also, it was a pass (hp was only 6 though). + Show Spoiler + Jumppudding: 99% acc, only 2 miss. It was 220 pp lol + Show Spoiler + Forgotten [afterlife]. Got 90%, which is, as far as country rank told me, actually the highest dutch accuracy. I'd say, not bad for a 250bpm streamheavy map + Show Spoiler + | ||

@Bobbias: Mania clips are really cool to watch, but score screens are honestly hard to appriciate :D Also DT vs nomod - for osu standard, DT is automatically worth like 2.5x as much. How much worse can you play with DT in order to beat a nomod score on mania? | ||

DT has a TINY effect on score by reducing the 'punishment' for breaking combo, but the combo part of score in mania is a relatively small portion of your overall score. I am literally playing as well or better with DT than without in these cases. | ||

I just started playing this map on od9, was desk tapping when rewatching video of it https://soundcloud.com/aeryn-4/hardcore-desk-tapping (warning, quite loud!) i think this sounds awesome, especially the stream about 2/3'rds into it and last few seconds :D I'm not really comfortable enough to tap with a consistent amount of force through some parts, some patterns make me tap lighter but still improving there can't remember what the whole song/map is called but i think that's the one i have tagged in my head as "shihori" and "day breaker" | ||
