Athough we did play some ridiculous maps, the difference was too big to be called a fluke or a matter of different specialisation. Especially the way i lost made me realise how much there still is to improve. I have to admit i was becoming somewhat arrogant because of how easy farming sometimes was, or how easy i beat (lower ranked) people in mp. But no more. I want to be able to play anything, no matter how hard, unconventional, fast, streamy or jumpy something is. I don't want to lose to any pro any more. I want to become réally good at this game. And i want to be asked for owc damnit. :@ I'll show them next year

I know a few players around 40-50k. I can usually throw up DT and beat their accuracy on my first play on a ton of maps, and i'm nowhere near as good as you. 133k is pretty abysmal, skyR got to like 60k extremely quickly Also: I wanna see handcams of you aiming! Especially maps like the one above.

But he got significantly higher accuracy. Think about 10% on average every song. I may get a friend of mine to film my mouse while trying to pass some jump map or something. I don't have a webcam, so it's slightly more of a hassle than your video's i think. ![]() Edit: And i asked to be invited next time he made such a (private room). As he promised to do so, ill try to get better and kick his ass next time, although that's probably easier said than done. edit2: What map did you play exactly in that vid? edit3: Profile is 19 days old, must be a smurf right? :')

When I read your first post I thought maybe you played easy mode on high bpm maps or something. I'm playing ~4.5 star maps and have beaten a handful with AR9, but only with about 85% accuracy. Is my assessment of bronze correct, or is there more I should take into account. Also going to start participating more in this thread and perhaps take the game more seriously. Using keyboard/mouse atm Not sure how it compares to bronze league but yes, 170k is quite high. Though I would assume if you can pass 4.5 star ar9 maps you could rank up quite easily.

My first advice is to neglect rank. Just focus on improving, that's the most important part. Once you've become good enough, it will seem like pp is gained with every decent play. So I've been playing this game on and off for over a year, but I've never worried about rank or how good I was in comparison to others. But after browsing this thread a bit I'm now curious. My overall rank is 177461, which from what I can gather is pretty much bronze league lol. I'm playing ~4.5 star maps and have beaten a handful with AR9, but only with about 85% accuracy. Using keyboard/mouse atm My personal approach at your level (although that was quite some time ago) was to practice maps until i got an A. After that, i thought i could reasonably play a map, and moved on to the next (harder map). So my advice on this point is to try to be able to play the maps you're practicing, but don't overpractice. Getting an SS is not worth the trouble at this point. Of course, if you really want to, go ahead; but i think it's less efficient practice. If you're looking for some hard maps, search for the mapper val0108, if you don't know already. Most will prob be too hard, but practicing those was for me the step between barely playing insane maps, and being comfortable at playing insane maps. Keyboard + mouse is fine, assuming it fits you. Atm it's really hard to say though. If you mention your username, i may spectate you for a bit and give some tips if you're interested. ![]() Edit: @maru: actually you're right. I'm an idiot. Still i want to beat him next time...

With the new star difficulties, it's very easy to estimate which difficulties are at your level. You can still somewhat farm ranks, although it isn't as bad as the old system. Yorbon, what do you usuaally watch for when you spec others? I did that a few time, but I don't really get what you can get out of that like a replay in SC2 or Dota 2 if you're good enough to analyze them.

I did that a few time, but I don't really get what you can get out of that like a replay in SC2 or Dota 2 if you're good enough to analyze them. Timing and aim consistency for the most part. Although spectating isnt really perfect, you can still catch a lot of hints as to what are the weak points of the person playing. If i see someone miss at certain patterns over and over again, i'll mention that to turn their attention to these patterns. Same with timing; you can hear if one's timing is decent, or very bad. Especially at rythmically more challenging parts, the difference between being able to manage those patterns and not being able is quite apparent via hitsounds. Also, someone with good aim will go straight to the goal (the next circle), while a person with worse aim will make his cursor go inefficient ways (for example a curve instead of a straight line). Also, (easier) sliders are often only crudely followed by beginners. That's also a hint towards aim problems/deficiencies. Because spectating isnt perfect, conversation with the player is key. Does he recognise what you see? If he does, you might have a point. If he does not, at least it gives the player stuff to think about. Most of the time (if the skill difference is large enough) you're right though.. edit: I never really watch my own replays though. I think it's key to realise what you're doing when playing, meaning you're able to identify what went wrong when you miss/get a load of 100's, while playing. Learning to be self critical on the spot is imo a very important part of improving.

I just tried to patch osu and it failed, deleted the osu.exe and i can't actually open the game to start patching again. Been so awkward recently.. Using keyboard/mouse atm There's no way you can be that good and stuck under 100k ranking unless you don't know what gives points. You only need to get like 30-40pp scores i think to get well past 100k. If you're FC-ing anything, even non-insanes then your rank should fly. I fixed osu, it's this - http://osu.ppy.sh/b/326688 - I AM A STAR, hr relax. I find that relax takes some weight off my shoulders and improves my aim, so i still use it for practice and fun. It's obviously helped me a lot recently for raw cursor accuracy, for timing and also for reading higher AR's when using relax, it's best to set a -10ms offset on the map (just tap "-" a few times) because relax by default hits everything 10ms early if your cursor is on the circle, which actually throws you off rhythm and makes it more awkward even though the timing window for you to hit things is bigger. If you do it right you can see like my video above, it's synced with the beat and you also won't have any hits deviate from the standard timing and go towards the middle/late section, as long as your cursor isn't slow to any of the circles
