How do I check my dpi?
I was told here that dpi standard is 450, if you can't adjust it yourself. Try to find some info on your mouse, that should give some more insight in how sensitive your mouse is atm. Also, (as i retardedly overlooked) you can adjust you sensitivity by changing resolution. Larger resolution makes for a less sensitive mouse (strictly speaking it's just as sensitive, but there's more pixels to travel, so larger hand movement is needed to cross the screen)
I'm using 500 dpi at resolution 1280x800. This means i have to move my mouse 2.56 inches to cross screen from left to right. With cyro's settings, you'll need 2.37 inches to cross screen. So our settings are quite similar. Going from what i think your dpi is (450), you'd have to move 2.8 inches to cross screen at my resolution. Personally, i feel that would be okay, although that's personal preference for a big part.
(I do think i'm right here. But maybe i made another stupid mistake. Other people might correct me, most notably cyro, who i know to be 3 times as knowledgable as me on this subject)
Super happy to get this. In terms of rank it wasnt too impressive, and i messed up some streams, but i'm glad i could at least fc a map this streamheavy.
Apparently my mouse has 400-3200 dpi, but how does the pointer speed option in the control panel play into this? Am I supposed to set it to the middle value?

control panel value should always be in the middle. It's independent of mouse dpi settings, and doesnt have a positive effect when looking at accuracy.
Maybe there is a button on your mouse that regulates dpi? Or maybe you have some software installed (or some disk with the software lying around) which could influence dpi? Just guessing, but if your mouse has changeable dpi, you should be able to modify it somewhere.

Yeah, there are buttons. I set it to the lowest, which should be 400, and I'm using 2.9 factor at osu settings.

Try to keep osu settings at 1.0 if you can. The osu settings (not at 1.0) makes your cursor skip pixels, which makes your movement inconsistent.
As pointed out by cyro, this is the difference between osu settings 1.0 or not. The difference in accuracy is pretty visible.

Ohh, okay. I'll try around then.
Guess that might explain some of the random fails...

On average, people usually use a lot lower than this, but I wouldn't call it too high. If you can control it well or feel that you can adapt to it, then it's fine. I've been using 2k dpi for around 5 years which some people find absurd, but I get by perfectly fine with it.
I think I'm on 1800 now (there are 3 different settings apparenty, so assuming first is 400 and third is 3200 it would make sense that second is 1800). It seems to work fine for now, though I guess I could try 400 on a low resolution.
Also, it feels great not to fuck up because of random shit anymore, so thanks again everyone. Now I now that if I fuck up it's because I suck.
Oh by the way, any suggestions for "easy" insane maps?
These are all pretty easy, in the sense that they're pretty slow and the patterns aren't too difficult. In terms of genre they're pretty varied. The difficulties easier then the hardest might be worth it for you too, although that's hard to judge, as i know nothing about your skill level.
Btw, the first link goes to the song of which i first fced an insane. I was soo proud at the time. Good times :D
Oh, and beware of handlebars (the 5th link), i think that one has the most difficult patterns.

Try the second setting dpi setting (~1600-1800) with windows at 4/11, enhanced pointer precision disabled, Osu at 1x.
That's 1:1 aside from windows halving sens, you can still select every pixel and it should be pretty close to perfect

Feels super slow but I'll try that for a while and see how it goes.
edit: Just read that the stages are actually 800/1600/2000. edit2: There's software to change the values in steps of 400.
THE HITSOUND ON LAST NOTE IS DIFFERENT. My heart skipped at least 1 beat ~.~
My mouse skill is definitely best it has ever been, just loaded up Saiya - Remote Control (DT + relax) and hit all three of the star jumps (0 misses) but it's more obvious that it's difficult to hit them exactly now. Would take some work to be able to comfortably SS with no overshooting on those kinds of jumps and to reduce fatigue etc
The actual star difficulty is generated automatically by the Osu mapping system. The difficulty in the title is decided by the person who made the map.
