I was really hoping for a FC on this :/ Would have been 98% too.
Random score. Failed once, and then got this. Not a half bad starting point. Wouldn't be surprised if I get a random FC on this soon.

Basically, I wasn't sure if that was a passing run or not because I thought I died at the end. Upon checking the replay it looks like I was a few pixels above dieing and got saved by the end of the last slider. I would have ragequit hardcore if I was playing that without nofail and had failed due to life drain before the slider completed. + Show Spoiler + And this is a legitimate "holy shit I passed that" moment: + Show Spoiler + Kaoru played this DT+HD and I was like "well, I dont think I'll pass, but let's try". I didn't pass, but I did come very close, and I decided I'd keep trying it often and it shouldn't take too long to actually pass.

Yeah, that was only 3 1/2 stars. I can play a few 5 star songs, but I generally stick to the "hard" songs. I don't think I'll be able to play on insane for another few months. ![]()

I know it feels like they are impossible now, but pushing yourself to play the 5 stars is key in becoming a better player. I don't recall exactly how long it took me, but it did take some time. Probably something like a month to a month and a half from being able to do decently on 3* and 3.5* maps. The thing is, I wasn't able to get 100% acc on anything at that point, I was still getting low to mid 80%. There's a reason my accuracy is still in the 80's now. But I managed it, and it wasn't that hard, and now I'm trying to move up to the even harder insanes ![]() And I didn't sit there and grind out failures or anything. I just made sure I played the insanes far more often. I'd play maybe 2 or 3 insanes where I would have maybe only played 1 before. Just playing them on nofail helped a LOT.

I'm one of those people who cares about the hit accuracy percentages, so it's hard for me to get 70-80%s. However, I think I can sacrifice that in exchange for becoming better.

![]() Also try playing harder maps with Spun Out if you're like me and hate taking accuracy hits, it won't count your score toward your ranked score but still lets you practice harder maps

I've never enjoyed playing something I find hard, if I don't have a reasonable chance to FC (or get really high acc) I won't enjoy myself. I started playing 5 stars because i was finding 4.5 to be pretty easy, not because I wanted to improve my play by playing super hard stuff. That slows you down. A lot. Like, a LOT. Conversely, I've always found it more fun to play harder stuff because even though I don't get that fuzzy feeling of doing well, I have more fun actually trying hard to pass something. The effort of knowing that theres a chance you will fail makes it more fun. I find it more fun to be able to do complicated patterns than simple ones. Example: The jumps in Homework Crisis [Let's Jump]. I struggle a lot on that map. I can't pass it yet, but I find it FAR more fun to play than say, Halo Glare [qinche]. If you play with a competitive mindset this is going to be how you feel. (It might only be competing against yourself, but it still counts as competitive) The mindset you talk about is the casual player mindset. In your case, the real question is do you have more fun doing really well on harder stuff or on easier stuff? Will being able to play harder stuff, and play it well, be more fun than staying where you are? If the answer is yes, it might be worth improving yourself, if the answer is no, then it's not worth it to improve.
