unless you do 2-3 bullet bursts pretty much if you're using the silencer it's impossible to not go w/o grip
i use the aug silencer and holo or acog depending on map and it works fine. but you cant spray and you certainly cant hit anything without aiming down sights regardless of how close they are, so i just peak around corners with scope out or make someone else go first

I've also been killed with SMGs across the map so much(while sniping no less), it's not even funny.
there is recoil, it's not as bad as CoD4/5 but it's much worse than AR for the same result like I said, LMG hipfire is bad. cross hair is far too big and unless your enemy is completely oblivious to the fact you're stupidly spending 1/4 of your mag hipfiring when you could just aim down and kill him clean, he'll get initiative and kill you before you even get a hit marker. hipfire+long spray = crazy ass recoil. I agree that pretty much any weapon but SR need a nerf as to range and damage diminishing returns they suffer from range. it's pretty ridiculous
As far as assault rifles making sniper rifles obsolete, it's more of a problem with the maps than anything else. Even Wasteland has a lot of tight areas... sort of. The tanks and cars and stuff really limit the options for positioning. They also suffer from not having any really large distances - Derail/Wasteland being the best sniper maps imo, are still pretty short when it comes to it. You're just forced to be close/semi close to your opponents most of the time - and in those circumstances 1887 Akimbo trumps all.
the maps are too small to benefit a sniper, and when they could, there are way too many flanks/nearby rushing points to camp like a sniper would I think Afghan is the best sniper map, but that's cause I'm fairly successful on it, so idk.
i think its rundown and wasteland ~! also i think cakez was more impressive in that video!!

From the time I prestiged, to the time I hit 500 headshots, all I used was the intervention. Having been through the hell that is sniping in every single game I ever played (I forced myself to, it was the only weapon in all my classes and all my secondary's were launchers or the magnum), I can safely say that if you know the right spots, ALL maps are good sniping maps.
you guys seem pretty good, so can u help me out :D
im trying to create a perfect rush/flank class using smgs, firstly ive been thinking whether to use the ump or uzi, personally i prefer the uzi but most people are saying that the ump is the best so for which situations would the ump be better?
secondly im not sure what secondary weapon to use, im thinking if i got scavenger pro as my first perk i would use a pistol with the knife (forgot what its called) or a launcher to take down air support and if i have marathon i would use something like the pp2000 silenced for when my smg runs dry. so which would be the better perk, marathon or scavenger and what would be the best secondary?
now, for my second perk im stuck between: cold blooded (to become invisible to killstreaks), stopping power (i think i might need this for the uzi, not the ump tho) and light weight pro (for rushing obviously). so which would be the best perk of the three?
also, i use blast shield with stun grenades, so fun lol
and for those wondering im 1st prestige level 20 atm, with a k/d of about 0.8. but i prefer going something like 25-30 then do nothing and get like 15-2 (that and i suck ^^) and thanks to anyone who can help

Weapon: Uzi Any Handgun w/tactical knife(This is very important if you want to do flank or rush at them you will have the advantage on the knife.) flash or stun tactical insertion(More kills )
Perks: Marathon(Pro) Lightweight(Pro) Commando(Pro) <--- Trust you will need it for its crazy dashing speed from midish and close distance knife kill.

thanks for the reply, but is commando pro really more important than ninja pro? well ill take your word for it and see how it goes (still got a long way til ninja perk anyways lol)
edit: im guessing your not going for stealth so would the silencer be nessesary?

They aren't very different really. Just try them out both and see which you prefer in terms of recoil/hipfire. The people I know who rush use the MP5K.
secondly im not sure what secondary weapon to use, im thinking if i got scavenger pro as my first perk i would use a pistol with the knife (forgot what its called) or a launcher to take down air support and if i have marathon i would use something like the pp2000 silenced for when my smg runs dry. so which would be the better perk, marathon or scavenger and what would be the best secondary?
First of all, you need to decide which game type you'll be playing your class on. If you're gonna play FFA, a launcher will probably be useless. TDM, Dom, Sab, and Demo, maybe you'll need a launcher. SnD I don't think it's very viable to rush.
In terms of machine pistols, the PP2K is probably the best but the hipfire is kinda bad.
now, for my second perk im stuck between: cold blooded (to become invisible to killstreaks), stopping power (i think i might need this for the uzi, not the ump tho) and light weight pro (for rushing obviously). so which would be the best perk of the three?
With this setup, you'll be running around killing people unheard. At some point you'll have to pick-up some other weapon(s), but with Marathon/Lightweight you shouldn't be too hindered.
Setup 2: SMG Silenced Handgun Silenced or Tactical Knife Semtex Stun Scavenger Lightweight, Hardline or Cold-Blooded Ninja
With this setup, you'll also be running around killing people but with Scavenger you'll be looking to flank and dominate a certain area on the map as to have initiative on your opponent and not get owned in 2 seconds because Assault Rifles are balanced. The red perk is kinda open as to what you prefer: being slightly faster (although I don't really see the use w/o Marathon), having quicker killstreaks (depends if you die often or not) or adding even more stealth to your setup.

with the current maps(except wasteland(Ninja will work on this map)) this should work perfectly. What I learned you don't need silencer cause it does less damage.

You look like you could benefit from these. This dude's team ended up 2nd in the final season of the gamebattles hardcore WaW ladder. He plays really good CoD, unlike all those montage kids with the quickscopes and lol nukes. Here's his breakdowns on his class setups:

Random gameplay with commentary? Sure, that stuff is a dime a dozen. Just youtube for MW2 commentaries. I'd recommend the youtube channel for "tejbz" That dude is pretty funny, and a decent player to boot.
Actual full matches? Like in competition? That stuff is harder to come by. Sometimes the Gameroom at MLGPro.com will have some stuff. A lot of kids have to upload videos to settle match disputes, and sometimes they'll upload a full game.

Whew, good thing this isn't a console vs PC thread. I almost got pulled into a debate there!
there is no debate pc is clearly better for any sort of competitive play, the fact that you have aim assist kills it for me.
anyways i logged on yesterday and everyone was usuing akimbo 1887 and/or nade launchers it was really tilting.
ive been trying to use the intervention to get better at snipers and, it's really striking how obsolete snipers are, even when i join the larger maps i find that there no reason to use a sniper at all, especially considering there are only 2 of these "bigger" maps and one of them doesn't offer too much in the ways of long range opportunities.
im going to revert back to my cod4 class and go m16 rds stopping power and try and figure out some nice spot to spot map traversing methods that don't get raped by the 1887s.
also looking forward to trying out the aks since in cod4 they were amazing.
I went shopping with my father and step-mother today. They bought me an Xbox 360(holiday bundle),Call of Duty:Modern Warfare 2,wired controller, and a 3 month gold membership.
They asked if I wanted to open it up and play now....but I passed..ugh...really shouldn't have lol.
Well...I will update with my XBL gamertag on christmas day or later.Till than Merry Christmas!

been on a WA2000 spree (kinda good weapon, takes a while to get ajusted from playing Barrett SP though) and one game on Wasteland I picked one up (silenced)
all I can say is get stopping power if you plan on picking it up, was running Cold Blooded Pro and @ close-medium range it took 6-7 bullets to kill

don't ever get stopping power with a sniper, do not ever get a silencer on a sniper. Get FMJ and Cold blood, and learn to hit heads end of story.
