Heh, sounds like i should give the ACR a spin then when I get to it. I don't believe I've unlocked it yet, but I could be wrong. I'm only about level 34 irc, I know its mid 30's at least.

I have a lot of time to waste (still @ school and I'm done with hard finals so yay finally -_-; ) so ima do a recap of perks cause I guess this thread needs concise info:

SMG = Sub Machine Gun
LMG = Light Machine Gun
AR = Assault Rifle
SR = Sniper Rifle
RS = Riot Shield
SM = Semtex
GL = Grenade Launcher
Noobtube = Grenade Launcher & Thumper
HBS = Heartbeat Sensor
CUAV = Counter UAV
PM = Predator Missile
PA = Precision Airstrike
Harr = Harrier Airstrike


Perk Slot 1 (aka Blue Perk):

1. Marathon/Marathon Pro

Marathon: Unlimited sprint.
Pro: Get over obstacles faster.

Best used with: SMG rushing, Akimbo weapons (namely Akimbo 1887s) & RS
Thoughts: great perk if you are on a big map, however I find that sprinting too much lowers your awareness and could get you killed more than usually.

2. Sleight of Hand/Sleight of Hand Pro

Sleight of Hand: Faster reloading.
Pro: Gives a speed boost to how fast you can aim down the sight of your weapon.

Best used with: LMGs except AUG HBAR, AR, SR
Thoughts: decent perk, definitely useful with LMGs if you don't need Bling and you don't use Marathon there aren't any really other fitting perks. Great on SR for quickscopes.

3. Scavenger/Scavenger Pro

Scavenger: Full resupply from corpses (allies, enemies and yours: 1 mag, 1 equip, 1 special nade until limit which is 2 (6 if you have pro) mags 1 equip 2 special nades)
Pro: Extra magazines. (boosts from 2 to 6 magazines)

Best used on: AR, SMG, RS
Thoughts: Decent w/o Pro, a must with Pro. Bandolier + basically infinite grenades as your skill level goes up is amazing. Works well with RS if you use Throwing Knife as equip. or just run around shoving people and killing air support. Works extremely well with Claymores (although you're limited to 2 up at once) and if you camp it's a great way to get ammo/equip back.(Tropics edit)

4. Bling/Bling Pro

Bling: 2 primary weapon attachments.
Pro: 2 secondary weapon attachments.

Best used on: any weapon really, but I find LMGs benefit from it the most.
Thoughts: I'm a big fan of the AUG HBAR so having the possibility to have Grip and RDS/Holo equipped was really interesting. It is also a great perk for when you are levelling a weapon and have equipments to level for Mastery (e.g. GL and Silencer). It is often seen on ARs, usually with a sight (RDS/Holo/ACOG) and Silencer. The Pro part of it is appealing if you are using a shotgun or handgun (grip/akimbo + fmj; tactical + silencer).

5. One Man Army/One Man Army Pro

One Man Army: Replaces your secondary weapon. This allows you to change your class at any given time during a match.
Pro: Swaps classes even faster.

Best used on: any class I guess
Thoughts: I haven't really used it but I've seen it be very deadly. You can basically reload the same class to get full ammo again, or switch to your anti-air class to get rid of pesky killstreaks. Interesting concept but honestly I haven't seen a lot of people use it.

Perk Slot 2 (aka Red Perk):

1. Stopping Power/Stopping Power Pro

Stopping Power: Increased bullet damage.
Pro: Increased bullet damage vs. helicopters and aircrafts.

Best used on: any weapon, really
Thoughts: Probably the best all-around perk for this category. Helps all the time so it's hard to be wrong choosing this. The Pro part is kinda bad, shooting helis/planes with your main gun is stupid. Unless it's a UAV/CUAV.

2. Lightweight/Lightweight Pro

Lightweight: Move faster.
Pro: Allows you to do a quick aim after sprinting.

Best used on: Rushing classes (SMG/Akimbo), knifing
Thoughts: Decent class although the speed difference isn't very big. The Pro part is very useful if you're using Marathon as Blue Perk as you'll be sprinting much more than usual.

3. Hardline/Hardline Pro

Hardline Perk: Killstreaks require 1 less kill.
Pro: Death Streaks require 1 less death.

Best used on: ARs, maybe SMGs, Akimbo 1887
Thoughts: This perk is hard to use because deaths are very random in this game. I recommend not using it unless you're already good at getting streaks and can get by without Stopping Power. Extremely easy to level if you use killstreaks that have a nearby kill requirement (e.g. UAV/CUAV/PM; PM/PA/HM, etc...)

4. Cold-Blooded/Cold-Blooded Pro

Cold-Blooded: Undetectable by UAV, air support, Sentry Guns, and thermal.
Pro: No red crosshair or name shown when you are targeted.

Best used on: any class but RS
Thoughts: Amazing perk, learn to love it. Being able to dodge killstreaks is amazing, and having a counter to people who use Thermal Sight is hilarious. The Pro part is really useful if you're sniping.

5. Danger Close/Danger Close Pro

Danger Close: Increases explosive weapons damage.
Pro: Increases air support damage.

Best used on: GL, Noobtubes, RPGs
Thoughts: yeah, unless you're going for the very skilled random AR+GL, Thumper/RPG with Scavenger you shouldn't use this perk. at all.

Perk Slot 3 (aka Yellow Perk):

1. Commando/Commando Pro

Commando: Increased melee distance.
Pro: You don't take any damage from falling.

Best used on: somewhat any class, definitely RS
Thoughts: Makes it so you have the energy sword from Halo. Knifing has never been this fun. Taking no fall damage has it's uses.

2. Steady Aim/Steady Aim Pro

Steady Aim: Increased hip-fire accuracy.
Pro: You can hold your breath for a longer period of time.

Best used on: any class but RS
Thoughts: Although you should hip-fire as little as possible, it helps quite a lot. The Pro ability probably won't be useful to you unless you use a SR or some weapon with Thermal Sight.

3. Scrambler/Scrambler Pro

Scrambler: Scrambles (jams) the enemy radar in a small radius.
Pro: Delays enemy Claymores, thus allowing you to avoid the explosion if you are fast enough.

Best used on: any class I guess
Thoughts: I uhh, don't recommend you use this at all. Anyone with more than 2 brain cells will know when you're near because his radar will go out. I honestly die maybe 5% of the time vs people who have Scrambler, and I'm bad at this game. So don't do it. Pro is too situational.

4. Ninja/Ninja Pro

Ninja: Invisible to heartbeat sensors.
Pro: Allows you to move silently.

Best used on: Any class, any day, anytime
Thoughts: The real gem in this perk is the Pro ability, which lets you move silently like CoD4's Dead Silence. Not only will no one hear you coming, you won't hear your footsteps which will increase your awareness. It is on all my classes and never fails to impress me (I missed it a lot when I got ninja-prestige'd). It's a great bonus to not be on those pesky HBS, too.

5. SitRep/SitRep Pro

SitRep: This will reveal enemy explosives and Tactical Insertions.
Pro: Makes enemy footsteps louder.

Best used on: why the hell would you use this?
Thoughts: Probably the worst perk in the game, not only is it long to level it by legit means (I guess easier in a private lobby), it's pretty bad. It is like CoD4's Bomb Squad, except in this game Claymores aren't as popular (go figure, they're awesome with Scavenger). Tactical Insertions are barely used. So this perk is useless. Oh and this perk's Pro is worse than Ninja Pro. Don't use this.

6. Last Stand/Last Stand Pro

Last Stand: Allows you to survive a normal death. You will drop to the ground and pull out your pistol. You can crawl in Last Stand. Last Stand ends after ~10 seconds or if you get shot again, and in both cases, you will die.
Pro: This allows you to use your equipment while in LS.

Best used on: every time you die.
Thoughts: Pretty self-explanatory. You might get an extra kill or two with it. Pro doesn't really add much to it.

Wow I didn't know scavenger pro was that good. I better start leveling that up asap lol. Thanks for doing all this work, btw. It's really helpful to someone like me :D.

Nice writeup on the perks. I'd really like to see someone making use of one man army.

Theoretically it would be
-off the break: marathon with an smg/tac knife to rush their spawn
-mid game: assault rifle or sniper for objective defense, or camo/ninja for sniper hunting
-late game: whatever the situation calls for

Having all five classes with 1MA Pro, so that at any time you can adapt to the situation at hand, sounds like it could be REALLY effective if practiced.

It'd be like the Zerg of CoD, instant tech switch based on the opponent.

One Man Army benefits someone who doesn't die often
it'd work well with Hardline I suppose
I can see quite a few ways to stack up easy kills at the beginning of a game (e.g. window sniping in Highrise or Militia sniping beside the bunker looking @ the canyon thingy where TF141 spawn) then switch to something more appropriate for ez 1st killstreak

edit2: now that I think about it if you put OMA on all your classes you'll have none with a launcher to down air support so if you do put one class with a launcher and switch to it you'll be stuck in it 'till you die =/

oh and your theory wouldn't work 100% cause marathon is the same perk spot as OMA lol guess you meant lightweight

edit: I'm interested to know like, imagine you get 23 killstreak, you switch to a class with hardline and kill another guy, would nuke be available or would it still be 25 kills?

if you're a filthy camper like me you rely on your claymores and claymores are the shit in this game, people walk into them repeatedly and with scavenger you will rack up so many kills you don't deserve, its good times

Yessss SoH Pro + ACOG = domination on smaller maps. I love my ACOG Intervention on the Airport map.

acog, really? you can't even hit shots properly because it sways like a beast and you can't hold breath

i used to think quickscoping was the shit then i realized how much it doesn't work in this game, i tested it with a friend and even if you're completely scoped in if you click too fast you dont get the scope accuracy, really annoying

I kinda agree, ACOG isn't as great as it was in CoD4

I tried going Tony Hawk 2 (Intervention ACOG) but just didn't like it so I went back to Barrett FMJ

and yeah quickscoping is broken if you shoot as your scope completes. I usually just hold breath for a split second for more accuracy

I like using the acr but I can agree it does have to be nerfed. Same with the damn 1887 those things are so gay.

So I've finally switched over from mwf1, and I really love this game, but one weapon I can't figure out is the riot shield. I normally end up mvp with every weapon except rs, which I usually end up close to last with. How do you get kills with it? Having to beat twice makes it much more difficult, and even people shooting at your front while you are crouched can still kill you sometimes....
I've tried learning to use the throwing knife, and actually that helped alot, but still, the only thing I rack up on the rs is deaths and assists...

I never played CoD4 so...

But yeah, I never actually "quickscope" like the montage kids do. Even with the ACOG I still hard scope for at least a half second before shooting. SoH just helps that half second come sooner.

if it's not enough to understand, some time ago there was a trend where people would post montages of themselves doing spins and shit and no scopes with the M40A3 ACOG from CoD4

meh RS isn't very good for KD, it's great for support (taking flags, protecting bombs/defuses etc)
