I don't think he means skills, but he's asking a general 'how much do I have to play to not fall behind in this game'.
Basically you can play as much/little as you like to. Just keep your skills going (they continue while you are logged off) and other than that you can do whatever you like. There is no grinding for xp in this game (only some grinding for isk but you can buy that RL cash if you so prefer).
Of course at the same time you should play a decent amount to learn the game. If you don't play at all for the first couple weeks and suddenly come back asking to fly a battlecruiser because you have the skills for it, you will be disappointed as we slap your ass back in a Rifter.

Would like confirmation from firebird that playing 2 hours lets you learn the game more than playing the game 1 hour.

What's your guys' opinion on this 'EVE Billionaire' book?

That's the way he gets his isk, by getting you to buy his book about how to get isk.

What kind of time commitment does it take to make progress at a reasonable rate? In other words: how much time (per week lets say) would I need to play to not be spinning my wheels?
TBH it doesn't take that much time. Due to IRL reasons (work and stuff) I can only access my home computer on weekends, and as a result I'm on eve less than 10 hours a week yet I'm still doing fine. Granted spending more time in the game will help you learn faster and present you with more money making/pew pew opportunities (as firebolt our numerology expert will confirm). However one of the "non-MMO generic" traits of eve is that you don't have to spend 8 hours a day killing elves in the forest to keep your character properly leveled and competitive.

56% efficiency for the month. o yea~

Alex Redtooth Nejota, thats 2 canes today!

Downloaded evemon, let a few hours to pass, first api failed. Made a new api, waited and it failed as well.

Hmm it shouldn't be that hard. I got evemon up and running for both my characters on the first try. Perhaps you're missing some step?
Oh and is it just me, or are there lingerie ads below the TL banner -_-

Meh, first post on TL with this account. Couln't even troll much this week. Also: is there a "light" version to this thread for phones, so i can lurk more while being at a boring company dinner? Making up failfits in my mind while nodding to my boss is only a temp solution.
Need sec status for my alt.
Damn, beer coming... Stop posting....

We killed the falcon and the sac and then gtfoed. Numbers don't mean shit to us. Their fleet was worth about 6x ours. What we killed was worth significantly more than our entire fleet.

We just killed ANZAC's cap fleet. Ueber called them forming up in Isto so I cruised on over and we found 2 carriers, a basi, a tempest fleet, about 5 bs, 2 bombers and 5 bc on their pos. They then warped to another pos which they started attacking. As we only had 3 bc online I opened my phone book and looked up who we knew and it just so happened that DeathStar of mean corp fame was online. I told him what we had and he started things rolling. While I waited I attacked their gang (see above) with my drake and killed one stealth bomber and forced the other off the field. Drake life. About 45 minutes later we had 6 (I think) dreadnoughts and a carrier within cyno range, having shipped them up from curse. Ueber provided me a warpin and I lit up 10k off of their fleet. ANZAC were all at 0 velocity and clearly had no preparation or standing orders for this scenario. Their FC panicked and called me primary but the damage was done and their chimera got pretty much alphaed. Karah, Ueber and I held point on a chimera, thanatos and tempest fleet and they did their best to take us down (we were all caps, no support ships). I dropped but a dread had secondary on the chimera which followed me seconds later and the same happened with Karah and the thanny. Ueber did a good job of running down the pest but unfortunately got ewar droned.
With the job done we left the field and started scooping our 700m loot. Deathstar magnanimously said we could keep all we killed as they took no losses and the op was a piece of cake. ANZAC got the rest of their fleet out (if only we'd had a proteus with 5 scrams, a cyno and 600k EHP) but the damage was around 2.2b. Job done.

Blobbing in our home station is just an effect of Hatchery having gotten so large over the last few months. The difference is that if you come with a fleet and we only have 4-5 guys online but we think we can take it on, we'd still come. We're not only reliant on 'blobs'.

Auto cannons or rockets on the vengeance, that is the question. (I'm not trolling I'm having trouble deciding)
|
Rockets.
At least when the rockets got buffed, it made the Vengeance actually pretty fun to fly. Haven't kept up much with the game as of late, so maybe rockets suck again... but I'd give em a shot :D
