Turrets are not real objects, they do instant damage because they dont exist as bullets. Missiles however launch from your cargo the ammo into the "server node's" cargo until impact. Thus, the missiles appear from the middle of your ship (ships are actually 1 dimensional with a collision radius).
If missiles were to be launched from positions of the ship, it would have to have all its range values recalculated, and a bunch of other implausible things that CCP cant do.
From what I read the difficulty was in making a place on the model for missiles to come out of. There are a lot of art assets that would need to be revamped, and they'd need a way for missile launchers to appear on the outside of your ship... and some ship models would need to be changed pretty significantly...
Making the missiles come out of a different place on the ship wouldn't be hard though. You could fairly easily just make the client-side effect start at a specific place on the ship and zoom out to its eventual path faster or slower depending on the path it's going to take and which side of the ship it's coming out of. You don't have to change the way that missiles work serverside at all, that wasn't the issue.
This means it doesn't have the first thing to do with lag, and it has everything to do with art assets and client-side effects.

We just fought a 32 man eve uni blob and won with 6 guys. A full list of their ships is pending (firebolt) but it went awesomely. We had an artycane, a standard nanocane, a nanodrake and three rifters. They had their standard composition. 13 frigates (5 or so griffins) 1 interceptor 1 assault ship 7 cruisers (several blackbirds) 5 drakes, 4 canes
![[image loading]](http://i52.tinypic.com/x35z5s.png)
We warped in at range, nanoed in and tried to isolate people. They were reluctant at first but eventually we got a few of them to peel off and promptly sent rifters to intercept. I could just call scrams down on their ships as the drones and battlecruisers sniped them. They got more and more split up as we kept nanoing back and taking people down. There were a few close calls with webs but overheated microwarpdrives with links and the ability to call down scrams were able to get people out. As we began to thin them out we pointed the remaining battlecruisers and attempted to clean up with our laughable dps. BUT SUDDENLY The twenty or so survivors from the first fight warp back into us at zero. Overheated microwarpdrives go burning as we cut down the harb we had pointed and get some range. Disheartened at being back where they started but with half their fleet dead they began to warp out and the few we pointed were stabbed. When the dust settled we could finally tally up the count.

Then as we're getting out of atlar into oddel we crash into a 20-25 man gang of a couple bc's + frigs + logi. Rest of the fleet gets out but I'm trapped, -1 cane. Oh well.

I think you guys crashed a lecture on what not to do before they got to what not to do.

Clearly the lecture for them is to stay out of low sec

they're a training group for eve newbs, cant do that by staying out of lowsec

EM/Dragoons. put a TEXN POS into reinfoced mode Saturday night, the timer came out at 22:20 eve time today. While 9POOL wasn't able to take part, the EM/Dragoons. payed dearly for not escalating and dropping capitals of their own: battle summary.
Battle summary for the initial engagement on the POS. I believe the Hel is an ex-TEXN that came to help. TEXN was able to repel the initial take down attempt, however people had to log off and EM/Dragoons. finished the job just before downtime.
Was kind of hoping/fearing escalation on their part. We were expecting supers from the Great Wildlands block to aid their efforts once we dropped our triage carriers onto the field.
Other amusing note: first triage carrier to be jumped in arrived inside the gate; he finally stopped from the resulting bump 90km from gate. We lost at least 2x BS due to the need to jump in another carrier and establish locks. =|

How to 1v1 a WT Step 1, fit up a 130k EHP HAM drake with no prop mod, a scram and ewar drones. Step 2, fleet him. Step 3, warp to the battlefield. Step 4, slowboat 150k off the celestial while his drake dances around you kiting you and tickling your shields. This may take 10+ minutes. Step 5, ewar drone jam him while aligned to celestial. Step 6, warp out 150k away. Step 7, warp back at 0. Step 8, win (with 80% shields remaining).

Brief numbers round up for our micro blob of aggressive newbs over the last 24hrs:
Lost
Battlecruiser x 3 Destroyer x 1 Frigate x 8
ISK Cost: 216,497,272.00
Killed
Battleship x 2 Battlecruiser x 15 Strategic Cruiser x 1 Heavy Assault Cruiser x 1 Cruiser x 6 Interceptor x 2 Frigate x 12 Recon Ship x 1 Covert Ops Frigate x 1 Exhumer x 1 Capsule x 7
ISK Value of Kills: 2,619,878,631.00 Value of Drops: 338,309,132.00
We also missed many many kills because we're bad, dont have Sig Analysis above 3, cant activate MWD, dont know what system we're in, dont know what system the fight is in etc, etc.
[edit: and I just finished this post and it is out of date, fuck you guys]

I don't know why that didn't develop in the freighter culture of the game, it should sort of be honorable to not kill a freighter if he drops his stuff. But then people would be dropping cans with 5 150mm rounds in it and making a hasty escape. That's why you keep point until you've inspected the goods. Also the Han Solo dumped cargo when the Empire was near, which is the same as not having blue pills in your cargo in high sec for fear of the Concordokken. I hate that improper use of the "word" concordokken is becoming a pet peeve of mine. I was referring to the antipi RP alliance Concordokken.
Sorry, must clarify... CONCORDOKKEN. is not an RP alliance, lol, far from it.

Yeah, I'm kinda mad we didn't escalate, too. Seems everyone was a bit concerned about a supercap blob coming in from Isto, otherwise based on that battle report we could have tripled the number of triage carriers on the field and likely turned things a bit.

Oh, and fun fights with Hatchery tonight. Our FC is a serious command rookie, but I had a good time anyhow.

You said to warp at range, i didnt know that meant at 100.
Anyway, I landed, went "oh shit" and heated my mwd and started burning out. A stabber fleet issue was about 400 m/s faster than me.

It varies. 50k is an okay default number if I'm not moving but if I'm moving towards you at 2k+ then you'll land on the people behind me. If I forget to declare my alignment and speed then ask.

Todays bit of excitement in wormhole land. Corp Thief
Got pulled into a sub channel to be told that the guy who joined us last night was a corp thief, apparently during our drunken russian roulette game the CEO had thought his background check was clean and let him inside our camp.
He logged on and we finally coaxed him into running some sites with us. Once we finished we had a HIC waiting on our side of the WH with a bubble in place to catch him. He immediately burned towards the edge as we pounded him. As he exploded he barely made it to the edge and warped his pod out. Apparently no one had equipped something to actually lock on his pod, which was sad because you could tell from his delay he was right clicking his way to safety. (I like this corp theyre fun but dear god they arent exactly pvp savants).
Meanwhile those of us in heavier ships are waiting for the bubble to get taken down so we can pursue. At this point the ceo realizes he hasnt adjusted roles or the POS setting and the thief is now launching ships out of the hangar. He requisitions a hulk and desides to make his escape, just as i get point on the guy the ceo clears corp usage rights on the pos sending everyone inside of it flying in random directions making me lose point.
We rally on the wh waiting for him to try to make a run for it while the CEO starts scanning with combat probes.
Meanwhile we have a new bubble up and suddenly the worm hole starts activating multiple times.
Apparently the people who were living in the place we just cleared of sites have decided to collapse the worm hole and several ships just stare at us awkwardly camping our own side. People on comms start freaking out unsure of what to do.......
My finely attuned supar dupar hatchury propeeveepee skills have immediately kicked in, i alone know what to do. I start blasting the nearest moving object with my Large t2 autocanon batteries while my corp mates scramble to come to their sense and some try to get out of their own bubble, while im properly aligned and outside of the bubble.
Their orca and domi decide they don't want what im bringing and slow boat their way to within jump range of the hole and promptly gtfo.
Still no signs of the thief until the CEO chimes in that he can't find him but sees another anomaly in system with it and sheepishly a director remembers that he had the 'new guy' go check it out. Turns out it was a null sec exit. After a futile attempt to chase down a hulk in a rapier (what do you mean they do 6au?) we collapse the holes and re organize roles and ships.

Out of all ships to steal he picks a hulk?

I couldnt explain that myself its like robbing a bank trying to escape and you pick the the broken down looking jalopy as your choice means of escaping the police.
edit: He could actually have flown a lot of things we had tengus he could of replaced his lost one with, he had capital ship skills, amongst other things he could fly.

If he can fly a Hulk, he might not be able to fly much else.
