The gangs we fly are also supported by a high number of web fitted frigs and Rapiers, which is part of the gang design. The reason it didn't work last night is because I fucked up and was positioned wrong, as well as not accounting for my sensor recalibration time. I'll admit that disruptors aren't AS effective without webs, but webs are meant to be a part of the gangs we fly. Another note about that is we generally only fight things that want to fight us, meaning that they aren't as inclined to disengage as a solo gank target.
I've been thinking about this fight a lot, and I think there was a lot for mistakes on my part for me to learn from.
So what happened on my end (blackbird) was I attempted to warp to Dex at 50km, but by the time I got to him he was already 25-30km away, with the cynabals and vagabond all over him. I successfully got my jams out on one cyna and the vaga, but several seconds later drones flooded my screen. I wasn't too worried as I knew I could take t2 drone fire for a little bit with my LSE, so I just kept a careful eye on my shields while I waited for my jam cycles to end -- but next thing I knew the other unjammed cyna burned right up to my face, 5km away. Scrammed and blasted to bits 3 seconds afterwards.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is what I should've done: warp in at 100km to be safe, since my optimal is 70km + 70km fall-off, and I can always burn in on my mwd. I should create a safespot on the warp-in, so I can align back out ready to burn away from battle and warp out at the same time. And safety first: maintain distance, maintain distance, maintain distance.
I've also made a separate drones tab (that really cluttered up my pvp overview), and added velocity and transversal velocity to my overview... cynabals are still freaking fast, but that should help immensely in kiting.
I'm really kicking myself for this one, cuz I feel like we could've had a much better fight if I had stayed alive and kept 2 of 3 of them 70% jammed, and definitely could've kept the interrupting dramiel perma'd.
edit: In retrospect, if I had seen the second unjammed cyna burning after me, would it have been feasible to ask Dex on comms to switch his dual webs over to that cyna to help me burn away? Or was I already dead and lost cause when I was only 30km away from a cyna?

when youre a lone sniper/longrange ship in a shortrange gang, always keep an eye on the radial velocity column on the overview. if you dont have it added, do it now. whenever you see someones radial velocity getting in excess of -1000 it means they're burning towards you and you should keep your eye on them.
other useful columns to be kept in the overview for pretty much everyone are velocity, and angular velocity.

It would have been feasible if i didn't have both my webs on the cyna and vaga trying to kill me lol.
Also vil, it is that easy to stay out of scram range in a nanohac. Anything else you fight is too slow to be of worry getting away from you.

well i dont want to argue, but we can try it out on sisi, me in a cane you in a vaga or cyna. i know i tried it with rev and he was in a cynabal and we were surprised at how easy it is for the cane to juke and jive either outside of cynas point range or into its own scram range, partly cause of eve lag and the fact that cane has much more capacitor.

Overview settings -> columns -> radial velocity.

Sooooo we just got dec'd by a 2 man corp (seems more like a 1 man + alt corp), its the dude that stole my mission loot yesterday. Either he read our forums and saw that we tried to form something to pop him (and now he wants to test us) or the other option is that he thinks we are super carebears cause I actually gave him money in order to have my mission loot back (I cant take any standing hit and im WAY too lazy to go to gelf to mission)
In any case hes always in emol in a Loki, lets kill that a couple of times.

So, i come online and kwark tells me he got a hyperion sitting on the gate in eifer. I log to pangell and we warp to the gate, but the hyperion is already gone and has gcc in local, so he killed someone. We decide to wait till his gcc runs out, because he might come back for another kill. Then Kwark finds a dominix baiting/ratting in a belt and we decide to kill that instead. http://teamliquid.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=8336125 The Hyperion has seen us killing him and commented in local, thus we didnt go for the hyp kill anymore and just went back to usual business.

Not the rigs? Or lack of propmod/tackle? Or sebo? Anything could have killed this.

I can technically fly a cane...which is the first step towards flying a decent cane! And I'm only 0.26 from level 3s, so hopefully I can get up there in the next few days.

Also vil, it is that easy to stay out of scram range in a nanohac. Anything else you fight is too slow to be of worry getting away from you. However, keep in mind that 90% of HAC/recon pilots are pretty much idiots. This is why the scram-shield cane and the HAMdrake are pretty awesome solomobiles (or were, seeing as solo is hardly viable nowadays). Nothing is more satisfying than killing a careless Vagabond before his Falcon support shows up.
Bitter unsubbed vet here -- realized that it took way too long to get decent small gang pvp. On a good night it would involve jumping 3-4 BCs into a gang of ~10 and killing expensive stuff before inevitably dying in a fire.
On a bad night its jumping into 20 people w/ 2 falcons.
I guess its a natural outcome to the risk-aversion the game preaches.
PS you guys are at war with Kaizoku okajima's corp? I still remember raging at my corpmate failing to kill his SFI (in my special theorycrafted anti-SFI thorax build!) because he capped out. Theorycrafting is the best part of Eve-o!
