My eve isn't starting. When I attempt to start it it appears on the taskbar and in task manager but will not load and I cannot make the screen show it (if you follow (if I use alt tab I can see eve on the list of active programs but if I try to alt tab into eve it won't)). Eventually I have to force quit. It shouldn't be a graphics issue because I usually run eve without any issues. :S

Not been on for days now.

Kill all traces of EVE from your computer, download clean client, reinstall.

CCP's newest patching process of some p2p downloader bullshit (I think it is anyway, if its not I read/remembered wrong) has been causing lots of problems for people.

Question!

I did som *investigation* on Ships and i stumbled uppon this.

For doing lvl 2 Missions (NO pvp in this) in an Amarr Cruiser, what would you pick? There are, as i see it, 2 real choices, the Omen and the Maller.

Omen:
Capacitor 730
CPU 250
Low 5
Med 3
High 5 (4 Turret, 1 Rocket)
+20% firerate
Dronebay, Launcher Bay, bigger Cargo


Maller:
Cap: 500
CPU: 280
Low 6
Med 3
High 6 (5 Turret, 1 *Stuff")
+20% Armor


I tend to see the omen as superior?
The only drawbacks are lower Armor and 1 less low slot (-1 Heatsink) but for that i get 20% firerate, Drones a Rocketlauncher and way more Cargo?


Last i checked the Maller was also more expensive on the Marked so if i actually sell the Maller i could get a total Win/Win out of it?



Or am i missing something?

Both ships actually have 5 turret slots. Meaning its a simple question of damage vs armor. I would generally choose amor for missioning and damage for pvp. If you can tank with the omen, then mission in that, however if you are having trouble holding your tank with the omen, switch to the maller.

Either Ship works really. For Level 2's not much tank is required. I think a both can do the job easily. For PvP, the Omen is better (in my opinion).

Hehe, i thought it would bet exactly the other way around (at least for Cruisers?)... I kinda saw the Maller in PvP as *Bait/Heavy Tackler* because it's tank is pretty impressive and he could actually sit at a belt/planet whatever and tank some time until the fleet arrives from another System? (Thinking about a nearly pure Tank-Setup with Repairers, Point, MWD but nearly no/weak Turrets).

went on a bit of a joyride through 0.0 today. got a jump clone with implants out of stain and through delve back into hisec :D

ran into just a few gatecamps on the main pipes, but delve was mostly empty, which was kinda disappointing =/ it was fun watching the goons safe up when a shuttle enters the system though :D

It really depends on circumstances, both are useful.

If you are acting as bait, then yes, you'll want to have a better tank than dps to give your fleet more time to re-enforce. In fleet battles however, your cruiser tank wont mean very much if you get primaried (chances are thats not going to happen though).

In cruiser gangs, your strength is in your speed and dps, not your tank. Your primary targets are lone bigger/tougher ships than you and you're utilising your numbers as an advantage. You want to fly in fast and knock out a bigger opponent rather than try to last lengthy drawn out combat where he calls in his bigger/tougher friends to help. In this situation, DPS is favoured.

Edit: If you plan on joining hit up guys like vil, me or motbob here via pm with your emailadress for a 21 day trial. It gets the person extra playtime if you finally sign up for real. That's kind of a way to give the help back we have going for you new guys.

Actually you should look up some Arbitrator fits, theoretically you can even run lvl3s in that decently... never really tried it, but I kinda wish i had. You'll totally need good-ish drone skills for that though.

Arbitrator wouldn't do too well in a level 3 I don't think. Being limited to just a flight of medium drones and a 4 slot armor (or shield) tank isn't too good.

Battlecruisers are the ships you want to use to do level 3's. Or HACs, but by that point missions should be stupidly easy anyway.

My Droneskills are bad anyway .

6 Mio Isk to sit in a Harbi to get the Isk rolling in PvE and using Cruisers in OP's . Still don't know which one but to figure that out shouldn't be a problem (hard point vs dps)...
