I'm assuming instead of Gallente Intaki Reborn I should of gone with Amarr Sebiestor Tinkerer. I figured having Gallente for the drones would of been nice but the skills I was picking up (even though I wasn't able to pick up as many as I wanted due to trial account status) didn't seem to go in the direction I was hoping or perhaps the skill training benefits are just supposed to be that spread out and I'm dreaming too much of a completely carebear race / faction setup. Any advice in terms of this if I'm looking to start working towards a character or two that are devoted to gathering and research? I will of course have one character I dedicate to PvP, but I enjoy mindlessly gathering too much. I've been looking around and I came across this: http://www.amazon.com/Eve-Online-Commissioned-Officer-Edition-Pc/dp/B003VJID7E would this be worth it? I read an article saying it was made available for free, but I don't know if that is still going on or not.

I'm fairly interested in the PvE aspect of this game and small group PvP; however, I want to focus more on PvE aspects. I tried out the trial and already realized a few mistakes that I had made in terms of picking a race / faction combination for the quickest route possible to have a miner and researcher. I've read things saying the bloodline don't matter and learning skills have been removed; however, what I read from one of the wikis in terms of the race / faction combination was that they learned specific skills faster and that seemed to be the case for the character I made. I'm simply curious about a combination which speeds this up or if these given skills are just learned at the same rate as everyone else. As for drones, for a miner, I figured this would be an combination with the supposed speed of gallente ships and their use of drones would give me some some way of defending myself in lower sec areas while still being able to maximize cargo (relative to how safe I want to feel), mining speed, and things like this. I know a research wouldn't need this, but it still falls in to the earlier premise of being able to get to the skills I want faster. I'm okay with being told that you simply just have to bite the bullet and deal with the queue times, but all the information I've gotten my hands on seems to be from several years ago, this include the CCP EVE-Online wiki, the OP in this thread and other EVE Wikis. It's a lot of garbage to sift through and I figured I'd simply ask and save myself some time since I know there are players here who have been playing for several years; however, I do appreciate your response.

No, none of this is right. Race/Bloodline has nothing to do with training skills, the only difference is the level 2 or something race frigate and weapon skills. It takes about an hour to get these levels if you are a race that didn't have them. Pilot Race has nothing to do with ship abilities or modules or drones. The only thing that effects train time is what you've mapped your attributes to, which is done after your past the character creation stage, and you get two remaps initially, followed by a bonus remap every year.

(they only affect your looks) and second, drones could defend you against npc (little ones), but are useless by themselves, in a mining ship (unless you use a combat ship as miner) against players.

Prizes for ATX have been announced: So down to the nitty gritty of why everyone is here – the prizes. This year the tournament is sponsored by the Caldari State who has spared no expense in creating two extremely powerful and versatile ships in their class. These ships, currently unnamed, will be based on the Basilisk and Merlin hulls. The Basilisk variant, which is the first prize, is a pioneering logistics ship with the added capacity to fit a covert ops cloak along with some very powerful skill bonuses. The second prize will be based on the Merlin hull and will take the assault frigate role. This ship is an in the face brawler with 4 launcher hard points, missile/rocket rate of fire bonus and a very rare reduction in heat damage done to modules when overheating, effectively allowing much more overheating of modules. Cov ops basilisk and a wannabe a super hawk.
