So it was a quiet Tuesday night in Lonetrek. Michael Hararari and I decided to test out some of the stranger creations in our hangars. For instance, the quadruple rep brutix:

Anyway, after about an hour of this, we had descended into madness. He had undocked a novelty artillery hurricane with a web and 2x nanofibers, which I had countered with a cap stable sensor boosting 10mn mwd caracal with heavy missiles, with which I was kiting him permanently. Unfortunately, he was able to deagress and dock. Clearly I needed to take a different approach if I wanted to leave here victorious. As I deagressed, a plan began to form. Griffin. With 3 minmatar jammers fitted, surely I could jam my way to victory. Fate, however, had other plans. As I undocked, Michael was parked 30k off of the station, almost as if he knew what was coming. No matter, however, EWAR always wins the day. Jammer one: failed. Jammer two: failed. Jammer three: failed. Without a prop mod, I had no hope of gaining any meaningful angular velocity at that range. I expected mercy, the same mercy that I had shown him in our previous rounds of sparring. I had been wronged.
The universe, it seems, is not without a sense of justice. Before I could even ask him why he had so maliciously cut down my poor, innocent griffin, his internet connection dropped. I took this as a sign from the gods, my path forward was clear. With Jimmy parked in Jita .01ing buy orders, there was only one thing left to do: I fit an expanded probe launcher onto my machariel. This, of course, due to its high cpu needs, required me to fit co-processors in my low slots, but this was no matter; I have a well stocked hangar for just such situations. I was ready:

With one quick cycle I was upon him. His hurricane melted before my fury:

Trading a couple canes and an enyo for a link tengu and (almost) a machariel is pretty solid.
|
And we were the barest margin from killing all 3 of them. They lived for three reasons.
1) Kwark dropped a web for a sebo to be more certain he could lock the tengu before it warped.
2) We were actually heavily outgunned - macha, deimos, dram vs 2 canes and a enyo is not quite a "fair" fight
3) Johnny got jammed on the first cycle by garmon's ec-300s.
(also ofc, they flew very well, and the dram pilot knew exactly when to swap his scram to me)

KARJ Battle Report
Shortly after logging in, the call on comms comes up that Zedd is tracking a hostile legion through Karjataimon. While this was certainly something that we would drop virtually everything to gank, the majority of T3 cruisers moving around Karj are ECCM link boats and not really a target (difficult to isolate and kill in low sec).
However, this particular legion was doing some peculiar things: warping around to celestials and generally looking like he was hunting something. Zedd steadfastly remained in his Talos in system while myself (dual web drake), Orandos (single web tengu), Aeth (meta4 machariel), and Not Orious (smartbombing abaddon? really?) formed up on Karj gate in Saranen.
Our hopes sank as the Legion docked in one of the Karj stations, but as there was literally nothing else to shoot we remained at the gate waiting. The legion undocked to sniff at Zedd and test the waters of the system. Zedd locked and shot him, hoping to bait him into attacking. Zedd managed to find out he was a very tanky armor tanked Legion with what appeared to be a 100mn fit. After Zedd knocked away some of his armor, he redocked.
Shortly thereafter, he undocked and warped away and our hopes sank again. Zedd remarked on comms that he just appeared to be heading to another station in system (one with a repair facility). Aeth was sure that we could bait him at this point, so he instructed Zedd to sit off station at 15km and fire on the legion when he undocked. The legion floated slowly out of the Gallente model station, saw Zedd, started burning at him, and the call came out over comms "I'm Webbed".
Our small hitsquad blasted through the gate and what followed was the longest 30au warp ever, as Zedd's talos was very quickly melting underneath the Legion's launchers. Zedd's glorious explosion animation had just started when I hit grid first, but I managed to landed the secondary point and double webs with Orandos and Aeth hitting shortly after with tertiary points and webs. After briefly shooting at my drake, the Legion dropped all aggression and began slowboating the long 10km to the station. Despite our relatively significant DPS, nuets, and webs, his tank was holding relatively well and he looked like he may be able to make it to the station.
Orandos rounded his tengu into ramming position and we heated damage. The legion was within 5km of the station and his tank looked like it was going to hold just long enough to save his ship. Orandos came in for the ram...
...and knocked the ~1.7b isk legion about 20km off station, ensuring the kill. The legion pilot begged for ransom and he was denied as we tore his ship from space. Unfortunately, hatchdrops and we only made 70m after reimbursing the Talos. And Orious didn't get the pod for some reason. But still, it was a fun and good kill.
