So will the game (very generally speaking) essentially be a MMO version of KotoR? Just wondering. Sounds really interesting!! :D

If all goes well, I can play Skyrim until this comes out, and then die a happy man.

I dont care if the game sucks!

I'll swing my sith-laser-sword around on release day for sure!

The first raid-infos looked better than expected.

So EA has pretty much confirmed that SWTOR along with another 150 PC releases will be Digital Purchase Exclusives, and that you have to buy them from Origin -- a digital downloader like Steam that EA made except exceptionally worse.

I dont know how I could be any more turned off by this game at this point.

I dont really care how i download the game or don't, as long as the game is good i dont give a fuck about EA's douchbaggery, after all , its still bioware making the game, and that is all that matters.

The reason games are $60 is because there is usually a middle man holding the game, even in Digital Distribution. When EA is directly getting the money from this, not only is there no reason for this game to be $60 except out of pure greed but the fact that I would be required to download ANOTHER downloader, would have to use that downloader and keep it online and use my bandwith with it just to play that game and won't have the access to my Steam friends while in-game like I would otherwise, yes, I would take that as an issue here that would be game breaking.

It's unnecessary hindrances. You can't even buy the game from stores, you HAVE to download their downloader and use it.

Stop spreading misinformation. The digital-only copy will be exclusive through EA's version of steam, but you can buy the hard copy from stores, install and play as you have with any other game in the past.

How is it misinformation saying that the only digital distribution will be from a shitty steam knockoff that is an unnecessary hindrance to those like me who only buy shit online? Don't kid yourself into thinking this game as well as almost every other game released these days in terms of PC gaming aren't primarily making revenue and sales from Digital Distribution.

EDIT: Let me clarify

When a game like SWTOR is coming out that is going to make or break Bioware and their future, is so heavily invested in, and is being so heavily scrutinized by the community because of how hyped they put it out to be and how average it's turning out to be; forcing your customers who want to download it online (which is a HUGE portion of PC gamers) to download some quasi-Steam service that EA just created creates unnecessary problems and will inevitably be buggy and will only ruin their sales, not increase it. I'm not saying they need to port it to Steam, even though that would be ideal for them, this is all kind of silly. I mean, for WoW for instance you could just direct download off their website no problem.

T_T just read the info on classes and some notes from BW that there are 3 classes on each side which can be made into primary healer.

Darmousseh, could you at least say as much as true/false? Or maybe even in a bit more detail, like "sure, there are 3 classes which you can spec for healing but not all of them work all that great in this role"

If the case is option #1 then no wonder almost no one wants to play Smuggler or Agent, as they're the weakest combat wise (judging from what I read and saw in the movies) and their healing spec isn't special any more

At first when I played I thought there were 4 classes, but you get a basic class from 1-10 and then choose your real class (advanced class). Each advanced class has 3 specs. This is all information that has been released before. There are definite healing specs / dps specs / tank specs.

Also, the beta is not "friends and family only". The beta has been open to a small group of people for quite a while. So i got invited back in october randomly. I did a TON of feedback and so I think that helped me get reinvited. They then reinvited a whole bunch of people who were already invited.

I'm not sure about the digital distribution. Right now you just start up the game and log in. No 3rd party program.

Also, they are constantly balancing reevaluating all of the classes so don't worry. The smuggler is my favorite class right now and when i do pvp there is plenty of variety.

I can't say much else without revealing information that hasn't been revealed already sorry :p

You don't have to please them at all. For the game to be successful they only need to accomodate people who enjoyed saber-swinging in episodes 1-3 of the movies (and that's what they're aiming for, seeing how half of the available classes in the game are Force users, and each one has either dual-weilding or double-bladed lightsabers options).
This way they get a gazillion of people who don't give a damn about lore, they just want to swing their lightsaber. Automatic commercial success in my opinion.
Also, this way hardcore fans become the minority of the game population and can whine all they want as nobody will give a shit about it.

Edit:
Just check the polls on their forums, right now it seems that 60% of people are going to be some form of Jedi, 30% Soldiers and only 10% Stealthers.
That's fine by me, because I wanted to roll an Imperial Agent ever since they announced this class, Operative healing specced = auto-include in every party and getting all the class loot as there won't be any competition for it while all the others are going to be rolling hardcore for their +2 Jedi boots.

I feel like they need to limit the amount of jedi per server. It's going to bother me that the majority is going to be jedis. It's making gear towards bounty hunter or some other class despite wanting to be a sith warrior.

I wouldn't worry about that too much. The storyline makes sense that there are millions of jedi. Seriously, there are jedi everywhere, like everywhere everywhere. There might be a lot of jedi initially, but it will slow down after the game has been out for a while.

This is the part he was picking out, Fruscainte. You never clarified that you knew the in-box version was still available until the post afterwards:

How is it misinformation saying that the only digital distribution

As you can see, your first post didn't mention anything about "Origin exclusive, if you want the digital distro". It's not an unreasonable mistake to make-- I made it too, initially.

If the nearest store is a long walk you don't want to make, and you don't want to do the Origin digital distro, there are other ways to get it. There are plenty of websites that can ship to you (unless you live in the middle of nowhere), or you can have a friend nab it and send/deliver it to you. You seem to be a semi-rational person, I'm sure you can figure something out.

But at this point it sounds like you're looking for reasons to be negative about this game. Which is cool, they can't please everyone.
I cannot stand ignorance or dismissiveness. I edit every post I make-- I've edited this sig three times in an hour.

He didn't miss the point at all. You're just being a drama queen about an issues that are not even there.

Fact is there's no one who could make you change your opinion at this point. If you think that EA won't make improvements on there download server that's your fault.

If you're really turn upside down by how greedy game companies are go play a 5$ indie.

No one is forcing you to do anything. Get out, see the world for a bit, and while you're at it purchase from the store

Contributing comment, right here.

And sorry, closest game store is over an hour away. I think I'll pass.

But good job completely missing the point / dodging it.

Exactly... Also why not order from Amazon or something if you don't want to drive out?
