I was watching this earlier...Is this true? If yes, I can't even touch this grindfest of a game.
Why couldn't they just do like GW2 is doing with PvP.
Just give the gear and items from start to those wanting to do only PvP. WoW was a great game but i cba to grind again.
No. I was looking at them last night when i was playing and saw that each piece only takes 2 commendations, one of one type, one of another. I didnt look a the name, So i think they changed that up. I reccommend queuing up while your leveling to get a head start on em. Warzones give you XP.
I also reccomend skipping huttball, unless you have a team and you are all on a voice chat server, else hutball is hard. Requires alot of coordination and communication that normal type chatting cant accomplish.

Its been a long time since i touched an mmo, and its not something i'd want to do lightly.
so, is swtor any good? Is it better than wow was? Why should i play it? I was hoping someone could help me out.

So why you should. If you like star wars this is a good mmo VERY GOOD STORY for each class pvp was great in beta and raiding is raiding
Why you shouldnt its an mmo if you dont like mmo the likely hood of you playing a month then quitting is pretty high
(but imo This is worth the money the amount of time bioware put into just for the story is worth the money of buying it with the free month then after that if you dont like the end game well there always SC2 and bw :D
And its like wow in the sense thats its an mmo. other than that it is its own type of mmo.
How many classes are there? Are they unique? Are there clearly defined roles? Its not that i dont like mmo's, its that the amount of time they suck from me scares me a little. to put it in perspective i played wow for like 4-5 years. but i tried aion, ffxi and maplestory and didn't really like them (played like literally 1 hour of ffxi, 2 months of aion, 2 months of maplestory).
I'm worried about 2 things: a) i'll start an mmo and wont be able to organise time around it and b) that i'll buy it and it wont grab me like aion etc.
How are the servers? Are there oceanic servers? or just us/eu?
How are classes/races/factions done are the classes independant of faction? are races faction dependant?
I have been following this game for awhile and i was still confused by it till i played the beta in October and it became clear.
There are 4 classes. Each class has 2 Advanced Classes, and within each Advanced Class are 3 talent trees(EXACTLY like wow).
Example, I rolled a Sith Warrior, at level ten, you can choose to be a Marauder(damage dealer with two light sabers, that has the ability to off tank), or a juggernaut(A tank or DPS, depending on what talent tree you do). Choosing an Advanced class is permanent, you cannot go back. But just like in wow, you can reset your talent tree. So in essence if you wanted to play a Marauder and a Juggernaut, you have to make 2 Sith Warriors.

it seems like race is set by the class you choose, is this the case? Also how does combat feel? like does it feel like you're beating/gunning the shit out of someone? or does it feel detached.

I hope I get in today, I pre-ordered last night. I resisted for MONTHS and gave in during the last few days. I couldn't keep myself occupied with 5,000 other games on my computer.
