The bites a hard one. We get a lot of Japanese players in Seattle, and really those are the only ones that play Guilty Gear. I wish more people played though. After I got past the fact that I don't have a MK button (best button in 3S kekeke) the controls feel really natural cause I found a character whose style suits me.
can't really say that the 3S following here is large, but it sure is dedicated. Pretty much everyone that plays any street fighter over here has switched to SF4 though, since there's 2 arcades within a reasonable distance that have the set.
Speakin o' which, here's some amazing SF4 tourney footage I found on SRK
That el fuerte player is sick as hell. Everyone just goes nuts once he goes into the HP loop (YAAAA ICHI NI SAN SHI GO ROKU NANAAAAAAA!) Especially awesome is the guy who always yells RAAAWWWWWWR TE-SAN!! TE-SAAAAAN! Once SF4 hits console, I'm definitely gonna give an effort to learning Fuerte, most entertaining character in my opinion.
EDIT: Gouki's alt costume is awesome. It's like he metamorphasized into a beauuutiful butterfly. If anyone's having trouble with nico links, use this: http://mmcafe.com/nico.html (found it in the same thread as above, thanks to Jay Wang)
Edit 2: Man, I keep on finding cool shit today. This will surely make anyone shit bricks. I wish all 2v2 teams could be like this :3

The fact that Stone lives in Louisiana would be enough to keep LA GG going for a bit, I think, except I think he quit GG or something.
I live in SoCal, which had one of the strongest 3S scenes in the country. But ever since SF4, 3S has slowly been withering away, which is kind of sad. Not to besmirch SF4 or anything, I think it's great; I just wish the 3S competition was still heavy.

Uhhh you guys realize that's a tool-assisted speedrun (TAS), right?
Not to deride it, since I've seen some awesome 1-person-2-players TASes before, but FYI it's not a "real" 2v2 team.
Edit: as far as TASes go, that was OK: I think they could've done more teamwork-based combos and it looks like the maker(s) got lazy since you see one player standing around doing nothing sometimes.
I fuggin shat bricks. while I sat through the whole thing. Very awesome experience.
I programmed an AutoIT bot to play arcade mode on my DC emulator so I could crank points for new characters in Marvel once, but those TAS' are nuts.
On the subject of TAS's and fighting games, here's probably my favorite TAS of all time. It's pretty old, but if you haven't seen it you're in for a treat. It's a speed run of fox through adventure mode in Melee (like subspace emissary if you played brawl, to get a feel for the length of it).
All clear on very hard with 0% damage in record time. It really shows the limitless potential fox (or wave dash). If any human could pull this shit, they'd probably be breaking a controller every other day. Reminds me of oldschool Isai and his N64 shenanigans.
By the way, if you didn't watch the tournament footage I posted above DO IT. I'm not even that big of an SF4 fan and I climaxed like, 14 times.
Here's one more great TAS: NES Battletoads with both toads and no warps, by FODA. (Ironically, all the most recent 1-player TASes for Battletoads have been made by 2 people. )
On stage 6 (Snake Pit), when P1 booted P2's corpse into the exit hole, I lost it.
By the way, he has to beat up on P2 because on stage 11 P2 must get game over due to a bug in the game, so P2 having no extra lives at that point allows the game to be beaten faster.
Also, I recommend reading nitsuja's submission comments for his Sonic 3 & Knuckles TAS:

A LOT of people on that video were lamenting how nico video has become so shitty that a video as uninteresting as this one would make the overall rankings
Yeah, it is depressing, but not much one can do about it. Just look at how shitty Digg has become. Most internet communities are becoming meme fests anyways, but that's a topic for another thread.
I'm having a ton of problems with GGPO, if anyone can help me out. The ports are all sorted out, I've tested it nonstop and I can get incoming and send out packets through the ports in the FAQ. Anyways, when I accept a challenge/join a game I get stuck on "connecting to server" for a while, then it gets stuck on "retrieving match info". When I try to spectate games, I either get stuck on a black screen with nothing happening, but with some people I can manage to spectate.
Anyone have any idea why it's happening? I'd like to get on GGPO cause I'm getting to used to listening to the other player's joystick (if I hear any clicks on their wake-up, I can pretty much parry any dragonpunch coming out, but obviously this is a bad habit if I decide to play online or in a noisy arcade).

Personally I would think of that as a bad habit in any environment, being reliant on listening for your opponent's stick. Akin to taking peeks at an opponent's screen during an FPS match.

nah it's awesome because then you can fake out people with fucking with your stick especially if they know motions with by ear, then you just put in the super motion at random times and laugh as they freak
