IMO, SFIV caters to newbies who can't take the pressure of their opponents' okizeme. And IMO that makes the game a lot less competitive and a lot less fun.
Hopefully Blizzard won't make the same mistake.
everyone has an ex reversal to stop level 3 focus attacks on wakeup
I dont see how SF4 is for newbies at all. I dont know what the fuck okizeme is and 3s is a good game, however its old and the parry system is pretty retarded in that some players who just constantly fish for parries will take a match from you occasionally because they make lucky guesses nonstop.

I've heard, all reversals break saving attacks.

With a life lead, it's generally better to back-off and try to land the finishing blow on even ground.
Nobody goes for regular "stand there and do active move" meaties very often anyhow. In any case, reversal ultra is pretty bad for the most part, except maybe like Akuma/Gouki ultra demon.
Besides, waiting like a second to give them enough rope to hang themselves (ie. wakeup super/ultra) before attacking is generally better anyhow~ No need to back off completely just because they have a little meter.
Anyhow the "oki" with saving attack is either release at lvl2 for mad frame advantage (or to trade/beat some moves), hold for lvl3 to break guard, or backdash cancel to bait reversal. Also if they miss the reversal and just get the move by itself, very few armor break moves are used as reversals so shrug.

yeah its true. but i think he is saying that everyone has an EX move that is an invincible wakeup attack, and its kinda true but it doesnt take into account how beastly crossups are and honestly ive straight up thrown sagat out of reversal dragon punches(not ex) lol

yeah, when I was still playing Ken a lot I would be like kara-throwing people out of reversal DPs from poke range and they would get upset haha

hey guys
i need a little advice
two friends of mine are training hardcore to beat me in guilty gear (x2) because i humiliated them when i showed the game to them but if i'm honest.. i'm not really good at it. i only knew the combos which they didn't but i don't know any fancy stuff, any advanced combo chains or something. so now these two friends bought the game as well and are praccing like mad.... to save my honor... what can i do?!
i don't know any people who play it competitively or something so that i could train under harder circumstances (we don't even have a beatemup scene i know of) but maybe you can tell from your experience what could bring my game from normal "know all the combos of your char + play with friends" to something higher.
maybe you know some tips to improve my game.. of course i'm gonna read some guides and watch match vids etc.

You forgot to tell us your character!

You don't think getting better at a game and kicking your friends asses are fun? :O

the problem is they're really fired up and they'll be feasting on my corpse once they've beaten me.
usually i'm all in for fun play and i have some other friends with whom i play who are on my level and i'm not training to get better than them or something... but with these particular two it's about honor. they merely train to humiliate ME this time, so this is not about fun but rather proving "who's the master of guilty gear" - and i'd like that to be me
they are playing Ky and Slayer btw.
but kk, i'll check out dustloop though i find it hard to transfer all this theory into the game plus i don't know what's really effective.. if you know some advanced stuff which can be applied almost always and is not thaat hard, tell me

In any case, a video of how you play or just a description of how you play would be helpful, and I mean relevant things like "I can Gunflame FRC consistently" or "I can do dust loop off a command grab on a cornered opponent" or "I can IB -> VV out of Ky pressure" or whatever, not so much things "yeah I like to rush down hard core yoyoyo."
