So what's the opinion on HDR where you guys live? Up here in Canada (Greater Toronto Area + Montreal), a large majority prefer classic ST over HD Remix. Furthermore, apparently the HDR Classic Mode is not arcade perfect, so serious ST will still be played on emulator or on Dreamcast.

in the get-togethers we have once in awhile its generally HDR only for the fact that 1) we've gotten used to it 2) it looks better. not really good reasons i guess and the fact that its only really like 8-12 of us at these FG mini tournaments.

some small stuff on HDR does irk me thou. is it just me or is reversal easier on HDR? iunno..... rog is more or less the same i think in ST/HDR so yea lol

it's not arcade perfect? news to me. the only thing that bugs me is you can't get the classic backgrounds but its alright.

however, yeah I do like classic ST better than HD Remix. On HD remix, I do like having the safer cannon drills and this is one of the few cases where I think making a motion easier was reasonable (hooligan motion on ST I swear is harder to do than SPD) but I still prefer ST better. I like the removal of storing ochio throw (edit: at least I THINK they changed this, I actually haven't played non-garbage hondas on HD remix) and some of vega's walldive stuff, but I don't know. It's not the real ST experience without the hardass motions and the broken stupid shit like that. Almost like the game is for masochists and I'm a masochist?
I think it's just not worth messing with the game, the idea of it isn't bad, but at the same time it's like if someone tried to HD remix Starcraft. A bunch of new people would play it for a few months but it would kind of not really be something the old (real) community appreciates. people love ST, having a game that's almost ST and still a good game is just too bizarre to handle... can't think of a word, but its KIND OF like uncanny valley

also: i dont think the reversal timing is easier but the motions are definitely easier so reversaling is definitely easier by consequence... I could be wrong though.

Apparently in classic ST, the timing window between the first and last inputs for the game to register a DP is random. i.e. sometimes if you take 15 frames to do the whole motion, it will come out; other times, it won't. (The window was randomly between 12-17 frames or something like that.) In HDR, that window was changed to be fixed at whatever the largest value was (17). That would potentially make reversals easier to come out.

Some things just don't seem right about HDR. Well, first off, the HD graphics are ugly and look really awkward with the very low number of animation frames. And the music sucks. Seriously, many of the changes to special moves seem out of place in an SF2 game. Honda LP headbutt only going through fireballs, Blanka and T. Hawk rainbow roll and dive not bouncing back much on block, and Ryu fake fireball stand out the most IMO. I haven't played HDR much at all, though, but my sense is that the balance--ignoring Akuma--is better than in classic ST, but there are a few alien (unwelcome?) tweaks to the inner risk/reward payoffs and metagame.

wow thanks for the added frame information
imo graphics are great but music could use some work. and yea some moves are funny mainly ryu's fake FB. but it does work once in awhile since u recover noticeably faster to DP and wht not. i just enjoy it mainly for the reason that its imo more balanced than ST and looks better.

still funn seeing sagat with a super meter in HDR thou ^^
