So you're saying that he's more imbalanced than Toki in HNK or Magneto in MvC2? Both of these characters share a tier with other characters as opposed to sagat. On the other hand, on the tier list I looked at earlier for Guilty Gear: Accent Core, Eddie is S tier with no other character, this must mean he's extremely broken and the game is most imbalanced. Really, he's not that broken. Learn your matchup against him, just like you have to against every other character (in every other fighting game), and you'll be fine. Sure, it's not as balanced as Starcraft, but that's what you get for not playing Starcraft. edit: Really, I can't understand why people would continually bring it up though, i never saw people on this thread complaining about chun or yun... | ||

Out of curiosity, does this have anything to do with the fact that (iirc) you play Sagat? | ||

Two of us said the obvious fact that Sagat is imbalanced, and you apparently lost your mind. By the way, Vega is imbalanced too: he's in a lonely bottom tier and he sucks. I lost to a Vega player online once. I didn't know how to play against him and the other guy was good: by the 3rd round he was 100% exploiting the gaps in my matchup knowledge. I was impressed by how he played. But Vega still sucks. | ||

Yes, I do play as him. I also play as Cammy in Super Turbo (not HD), who happens to be a bottom tier character. I also do NOT complain about matchups like Cammy vs. Honda or Cammy vs. Deejay which are FAR FAR FAR FAR worse than any matchup anyone playing SF4 has to endure. That shit is what a real bad matchup is about, nothing in SF4 is remotely like that. And no, it's not like north korea at all. I just see people all the time using cries of imbalance as a crutch to their losses or others' losses when most of the time it's a 5-5 or a 6-4 matchup they're talking about. Sagat vs. Fuerte is a 6-4? how is that remotely close to "fucking imba"? It's mildly imba, but you're not going to get a fighting game without 6-4 matchups, what do you expect? Don't go complain about a 6-4 matchup, go learn it and rape Sagat next time. Every character in SF4 is tournament playable (maybe not Dan). yeah, I suppose I'm a little bit annoyed, part of it is that the Sagat forums is filled with people playing other characters coming on there and bitching and it drowns out any useful posts. so, I guess apologies, you do have a point, he is mildly imbalanced... but he's really not worth complaining about. He doesn't rape any member of the cast outright, he just has no bad matchups. on a mildly related note, does any of the Arcana Heart or Guilty Gear games have a matchup chart somewhere? I can find tier lists but I can't find matchup charts (yes, I tried google). edit: woah people making posts in this thread before i get to read them, ninja. sec let me read all this | ||

Imo, you should have replied to nataziel with something like "it's only a 6-4 matchup". Bringing all kinds of other games into it is just confusing and doesn't get your point across at all. | ||

people are going to complain because it simply is true, and they shouldn't stop simply because you don't want to be bothered at SRK, or because there have been more imbalanced characters in games before him. I get the feeling you don't play him because he is top tier, but it still doesn't change the fact that he is. it's quite a bit more than "he just has no bad matchups" it's not a game wrecker, but I would prefer they Nerfed him. ( or buffed akuma ^ ^) | ||

At some point viper, geif, ryu and akuma were all considered to be on the same tier as sagat. Sagat is simply the only one who's stayed up there for most of the game being out (originally Rufus was considered top, so sagat hasnt actually always been the best). Learn the matchups, not the charts, and sagat seems much less imbalanced. I'm 100% with anotak in this one. I play other characters in tournaments and money matches purely to shut haters like you up. Although you (bill) have previously admitted you think 4 is an execution heavy game and that dash cancels are hard, so honestly I think your knowledge of the game is pretty limited compared to AH, 3s etc. And just so you know, I played geif vs sung_moon's sagat earlier today, it's not that I'm never on the other end. In fact, the last MM I played I actually won playing balrog vs sagat. (Emphasis on money being on the line!) In retrospect this is coming off way more offensive than I intended, but it's a pet peeve and I'm way too tired to edit it down right now lol | ||

i don't hate on sagat or sagat players, I realize that it takes skill to consistently perform regardless of your character, and i don't dodge sagat MUs, or go on SRK sagat forums and talk shit about the balance. oh and i went to the sagat forum, and i can now see why you are pretty mad about the balance spammers, that place is a joke, every other char has useful information readily available and a helpful community, and in the sagat forums i believe there was even a thread called: how would you nerf sagat. everyone there is either pissed off or trolling. bottom line if sagat beats me 1000 times in a row, everyone of those times i know it's going to be because i messed up, the imbalance in him is not enough for me to blame anyone but myself for losing, but they could make my life easier ^ ^ | ||

Of course, balance between characters doesn't make a great game (it just helps). As of late I'm getting tired of low jabbing/shorting, so as of yesterday I'm learning Dhalsim. I guess all I ever liked about Dictator was abusing s.hk as much as possible and ex headstomp for other anti-air, anyway.  P.S. if I played it, I would definitely complain about ST Cammy vs. E. Honda all day. Also, Akuma is decent against Sagat. He can actually make Sagat come to him rather than the over way around, and EX demon flip is a great combo starter vs. predictable. | ||
