anyone here going this year?
I'm going but only for the fact that I live in Vegas. Are you thinking about going this year? I should have something at my house for who ever is going but will see as it gets closer to the event.
I just got Akatsuki Blitzkampf and messed around with it a couple hours to unlock some chars/modes etc. Originally I was skeptical of the game because people keep making 3S comparisons and "omg parries" comments, but then I found out it has a reflector system rather than a SF3 parry/Garou JD style system. Reflectors aren't like parries in a lot of key ways. Then I found out that "Guile" is in the game, and he has an air sobat kick! Pretty much air sobat kick is selling me on the game.
edit: Tell me where I'm dumb, but these are uses I thought up for air sobat, for the sake of personal theory fighter:
forward jump low sobat pressure poke on grounded enemy
forward jump mid/low sobat whiff -> throw
neutral jump low sobat KOF-style poke
backward jump low sobat retreat poke
forward jump to high backwards sobat retreat for fakeout
j.B j.4/6B aircombo, hits standing chars too
neutral jump options: backwads/forwards sobat for reactive spacing or j.C -> bnb punish
wakeup jump-in mixup: air sobat instead of obvious late deep j.C for wacky timing -> throw

It's one of Guile's legendary command normals: the forward version is performed with f+mk, and the backwards version is performed with b+mk. IIRC it's not in the earliest SF2 games, but it's in ST for sure (and other games, including SF4). But in SF4 it kinda sucks. It's a decent mid-poke that can go over sweeps, but the real utility is in the fact that it moves him forwards or backwards depending on the version used. So it's an attack with decent priority, beats low attacks, maybe only a few frames minus on block, moves Guile, and you can charge for sonic boom/flashkick during the animation. People use it for positioning while holding/building charge even when half- or full-screen distance away. Find any Guile match and you'll probably see it. Just don't mistake it for the knee bazooka or step kick--the sobat shows Guile's back facing the camera and the others do not.
With Soldat, it's an air command normal only, at 4/6+B. It has the unique property of immediately terminating his original jump trajectory. So essentially you can get a shorthop jump attack by doing it low to the ground. Granted, it doesn't hit crouchers afaik, excluding tank and maybe Wei?

Seriously, there is no reason of me playing Alex.
I don't get anything if I win. I beat alex valle. OOOOO because he's so big in the SF4 Scene. Please....
If Alex beats me, he gets 100x more credit then I do.
So you might as well make it more interesting aka putting up 10k
And if not....
Then let Alex see me in a 2 out of 3 set at EVO....
