Out of curiosity does hon ignore threat or how does it differ from my last 3 points? I believe that in HoN towers generally prefer low hp targets (things they'll kill the fastest) but also moving towards/away from tower is taken into account (apart from standard hero focusing etc.). It is possible to save your low hp teammate trying to run away from tower by getting closer to it even with full hp to draw its attention. On a sidenote: Any and all tests won't be conclusive without knowing the mechanic between tower targeting cycles. How often does the tower check what it should attack? With every new unit entering its range? Whenever units within range change position? Whenever an attack/move command is issued? Every 2 shots? Every 3 seconds? This could be a pretty big factor. hon towers are pretty straight forward http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/showthread.php?t=75485

Pretty interesting. Some last questions about hon and threat, when you are laning heroes vs heroes with creeps [ no towers ] you can do the creep pull I described right? I remember doing this in beta.
And if you run into a wave of creeps with yours right behind you [ so creeps attack your hero first ] if you decide to attack your full hp ally creeps, will the enemy creeps change targets?
If you are fighting neutral creeps with a pull [ your allied creeps ] and they start hitting you and you do the same attack target allied creep thing, do the neutrals change targets?
For those curious, the answer is yes in dota for question 2/3.
Edit: Oh yeah forgot one.
If you try and do the pull creeps with a hero in a totally different lane, do the enemy creeps still target you immediately?

Computers aren't magic. I just want to know what the list is. The dota one isn't the same as the hon one, for sure, because applying my hon knowledge to dota, I am sometimes surprised by the target choice. I'm never surprised in hon. What the hell chicken was 170 gold???????????????
Whaaaaat the heeeeeeeeellll?????

-yeah you can pull like that, but there's a range limit on it. I forget what it is exactly, it's like ~500 range (was in one of the patch notes). Basically if you right click a hero that's further than this range, creeps just ignore you. I like abusing this pull in dota because it seems so strong since you can do this all the time but have to sacrifice positioning in hon.
-attacking full-hp ally creeps does nothing in hon except a move command. If you attack-full-hp-creep right beside you, enemy creeps won't change their target, but if you attack-full-hp-creep away from you (most notable for melee), you'll walk away from the enemy creeps and they'll start attacking the creeps that attack them. if you just stand there, creeps will keep attacking you, despite that there are creeps beating on them.
-dunno, I'd guess not since it doesn't do anything in hon.
-no, there's the range limit I talked about in #1
edit: @semantics below Could be. I know the range limit wasn't always there, but it was added at some point early on. + Show Spoiler [precise patch notes] +- Significant Lane Creep AI changes * These all involve the assist trigger that causes the creeps to aggro you when you attack an enemy hero: 1. When a hero causes the assist trigger to go off, there is a 200ms delay before the creeps will turn and come at you 2. Creeps will chase for exactly 1600ms (down from 1800ms) 3. If a creep is in the middle of an attack animation but has not hit its attack impact point (600ms), it will deagro and stop its attack as long as you are out of it's short melee range * AKA: Creeps will not finish attacks they start on you if they hit the end of the trigger 4. A creep must deal damage before it can be called by the assist trigger again * This means if you tug, they must turn around and actually deal damage to a unit before it can chase again 5. You must be within 600 units of an enemy hero to cause the assist trigger to go off

not sure but it may have been changed because of the wildsoul silly bear, bear being able to pull creeps from top lane to bot lane by using the port back to wildsoul same deal with creep cutting a lane very easily doing the same thing pulling creeps mid lane to the tower.

You guys are also forgetting that tower ai behaves differently when there are obs in the game
|
Now you're scaring the crap out of me...

Was just in a game with Chu and some Russian smurf, holy shit adsiofjasdfoi

It'd be interesting for someone to actually dive into the coding behind the tower a.i and see what was going on in there. As someone had to actually write down that the tower should behave that way. Even if it does act like its fueled by black magic most of the time.

It's beyond a joke how many crashes I've been getting in HoN for the past few weeks.
Is anyone else getting them?
|
I'm just getting constant dc's/extreme lagspikes. All other online games run fine so its not my network, going to try doing a full reinstall soon but pretty sure its on S2's end.

Happy birthday!
And HoN never crashed on me either. Although I had some issues with heavy spiking at times.
