It's common knowledge that most HoN players are bad. However, I figured they'd be slightly better in all pick where they can choose their preferred heroes. Here's a short description of an AP game I just played because I couldn't find any SD games.
Situation: I join some 1600+ AP game. I am autobalanced onto the team with four locks. I insta-random and get dark lady. The four locks decide to pick us a team of 4 melee. I am stuck bottom lane with pebbles. No one buys a monkey or wards.
Pebbles is bad so we have a rough time in our pebbles+dl lane against accursed+kraken. After a terrible laning phase by my entire team, they just decide to gank for the rest of the game. After trying to work with them for the first little while, I give up and just farm.
Later on after more failed ganks by my team, engineer disconnects. I wreck their team and they concede before engineer rejoins.
I tell our french devourer "tempis pour toi" (too bad for you) before we disconnect. He messages me, "you're ugly and I'm banlisting you" and "learn to play" in french. Apparently I'm bad for carrying them four on five. I even saved him with my ult multiple times
Interesting. If you are "so good" that you can random in an AP game, and your intent in joining an AP game was to allow people to pick heros they are good with, they why would you random and get a hero that forces them to pick other shit?

First of all, I didn't say I was "so good". I random in AP games because I like playing every character. In addition, the extra gold is nice because I can buy wards/monkey as my team usually doesn't get both.
Secondly, what does "random and get a hero that forces them to pick other shit" mean? You're saying that it is my obligation to pick my hero last based on the rest of the team? Or, are you implying, that by me picking immediately and giving my team the maximum 2 minutes to choose heroes is a bad thing? I don't follow.
My clan just finished our HoN montage, if anyone wants to see!
Worth noting is the progression within the video. The clips are displayed almost chronologically, with the stuff at the beginning being in beta and more around the 1500~s and the stuff at the end being almost present day around 1800~s
This game is far too addictive and it's better for all of your lives if you extirpate this demon from your souls and free yourself from its morbid possession. If you need help finding alternative, productive ways to spend your time, please see the SC2 forum.
On topic, Elder Parasite is not a terrible item, because it gives you 1.) Movement speed. 2.) Lifesteal 3.) +100 Attack speed.
At the cost of 4.) Taking 20% more damage.
On fragile characters that thrive on hit-and-run tactics, there could not be a more effective weapon for the price. On Chronos, you're limited by the duration of your ult. If, during those n seconds, you can get up to twice as many hits in (if you have no other aspd boosting equips), is it not worth it? Additionally, that extra movement speed and lifesteal, during those few moments when your opponent cannot fight back, are critical to your survivability.
That being said, DL thrives on a similar hit-and-run tactic. Her ult, used correctly, lets you engage enemies 1on1 without any possible interference from your opponent's allies. In this case, again, you want to spike your dps as high as possible for those few seconds of blindness, and be out before it wears off. The +100 aspd/lifesteal is great for this purpose.
The conclusion of all this being... Stop playing HoN. You can thank me later when you've cured AIDS using the time you would have sunk into this vile obsession.

Because you don't understand the metagame.
I believe that your assertion that Mr. Rabidch does not understand the metagame has not done a great deal to improve Mr. Rabidch's understanding of said metagame. Why don't you enlighten us, while working up the resolve to finally quit this bane of all that is good productive.

The fact that you think that I don't understand the metagame merely reflects your lack of understanding of the meta-metagame.

is there really a metagame? think about it...
After thinking about it, I retort that there is in fact a metagame. Pro teams often make decisions in tournament matches based, not upon the counter-ability of specific heroes, but rather on the playstyles of their opposing team.
I've been scrimming IH lately and I think qop has potential. She's obviously dead if she's chain nuked but I've always had a thing for her ever since the buff on her scream cd.
Also been playing around with Dragon Knight in a push lineup vs flashy heroes (storm). Been looking for hidden cards but haven't found anything great so far.
Have you ever though of OD vs storm? You can basically stop him from getting any cs (and resulting items get pushed later) so he can't get his first mana regen item that will make him insane to kill. The only problem is you need lots of wards and a very map aware player on OD since he can get ganked easily.
