Sometimes it's not your execution as much as the hardware. Even if it works when you do a motion slowly, maybe that can be attributed to you letting go of keys in time so that others can be registered. Try a different keyboard or different button mapping and see if it helps. When I use keyboard I use arrow keys for directions, but I just tried WASD for the first time in many years just for kicks. In emulated ST, I got a standing 360 motion first try (IIRC there's 4 frames pre-jump in ST). I seem to remember that I tried using WASD before on a different computer a long time ago, and it didn't work out so well then because that keyboard was locking up with those inputs. hummm that could be the problem, multiple inputs... i ll try other keyboards. i ll also try changing to WASD my only tip for performing combos on keyboard is "buy a stick or use a pad" really though, I was never able to do 360s/720s (or even half circles) on a keyboard i ll buy a PAD soon... 2 btw, so i can play with friends over my house ^^ Instead of doing F D HP DF HP I just c.HP and SRK really quickly afterwards, because you can press the buttons really sloppily on a keyboard in SF4 compared to 3S on GGPO or w/e. And HCB is so much easier now, I couldn't even do it 100% of the time in 3s. Now, if you have the movement on WASD you can press D, S, A, release D, release S. Which doesn't translate as a half circle on a stick at all. Also don't play 720 characters on keyboard . Maybe you could on the SF4 input engine I haven't really gotten around to try it, but it was a frickin nightmare in 3s. thast what i do, c. HP, SRK but i still cannot do it right. I think i ll change to WASD to see if it is multiple inputs problem... i can do HCB just fine on SF4, you just have to get timing correctly, which is easy to do. i ll give up on 720s or im gonna break my keyboard lol

Keyboard wasn't as bad as I expected (360, 720 and those few other moves were about impossible though) but bad enough, so I decided to get pad since most of the keys I used for attacks conflicted and the inputs didn't register from everything limiting some combo possibilities etc. With pad some stuff feels still a bit hard to pull off, but at least its possible. Charge characters for example seem to randomly accept the moves but I guess thats just my inexperience, while most others seem to react just fine. So far I'm enojying it, unlocked most characters (except for Akuma, Gouken and Seth... few tries on Akuma, but I always end up lacking one first strike or losing barely to Seth, meh) and some other stuff. GFWL seems to be down or bugging since it won't let me use online features and sometimes whines about random stuff, which is rather annoying. I guess I'll stick to trials and other practise stuff before going online anyway though.

I don't think it's a performance issue since it runs smooth, yet way too slow. Benchmark gives me solid 30fps all the time, think its limited to that somewhere since it stays at exactly 30. But as I said, game runs smooth, so I dont think its a performance thing. Its just slow, really slow. I had the same "slow" problem so it's definitely performance issue. Once I turned down settings and had it running at 60fps it was fine.

EDIT: typo There is no such thing as different gamespeeds in sf4 so it's either a performance issue (it's only a benchmark anyway - a video and not the actual game) or a weird bug. I ran the benchmark on a friend's computer and the game was over in like 10 seconds cuz he had way more than 100 frames/sec.

EDIT: typo Many 3D games can run at the same speed at any framerate. 2D fighters, however, require a FIXED framerate of 60 fps, because the game is designed to update exactly 60 times per second. This is why people talk about "frame data" in 2D fighters. E.g. a move like Sagat's uppercut always takes exactly 3 frames to "start-up", then on the 4th frame it can hit the opponent. If your game is running at 30 fps instead of 60, then Sagat's uppercut will take twice as long to start-up: in fact, everything in the game will take twice as long. In theory, such a game COULD run at 30 fps by updating the game at 60 fps but updating the on-screen image at only 30 fps, i.e. displaying every other frame. However, in a competitive situation, this would be unacceptable: every frame must be displayed.

If you use the fixed framerate setting in sf4, it will behave like any other game (speed independent of frames, it will simply use frameskips). But yes, even with the fixed framerate, the game should only be played at 60 fps.

I was messing around with Zangief and successfully programmed his 5-hit B&B combo and a standing 720 into the keyboard.
