The coop was completely dead by the end but that's cause it was literally one map with no modifiers or anything. It will inevitably end up like SC2 coop with countless maps, commanders, and mutations.

in that interview Ms. Laforge made it clear her family and the Morhaime family were now friends. Mike Morhaime could fund this project and has chosen not to do so. Mike Morhaime knows a lot about the video game incubation projects and if he is not interested that says a lot. Ah, back to moving the goalposts again I see.

Why not just save your money, time and energy on following the game, and check it out later on to see how it's doing? I don't get the hate-on everyone has for the game in this thread. And also for the record, I do think it's a little strange they are asking people to invest. I personally wouldn't, and would probably recommend people not to (unless they are 100% willing to lose it all). But FGS can do what they want, and I hope the game does succeed in the end.

It’s a bit atypical, I almost find it strange we don’t see a little more of alternative avenues to funding being explored with niche but very passionate communities. Not directly equivalent but say, GSL left it very late in the day to even explore folks who love that tournament helping fund it, and lo and behold there was that demand there. I’m reticent for many, many reasons but fundamentally I don’t have any innate issue with this approach either. I’d absolutely throw down the cash if some developer could give me a modern arena shooter with a realistic chance of decent success.

- It's made by the same guys behind SC2 co-op - SC2 co-op was the most profitable gamemode despite only needing a small team, and Frost Giant know this - They're description of how co-op will work is just the same as SC2's is - The beta version of co-op was identical to SC2 coop maps Unless the game gets scrapped out of nowhere I don't see a world where it doesn't end up being similar to SC2 co-op. Frost Giant are already more dedicated to making Stormgate co-op than Blizzard was to SC2's And none of this is a bad thing, SC2 co-op was both fun and successful

He also worked on RA3's co op campaign after which SC2's co-op missions were modelled. (that sentence didn't end in a preposition... Queen Elizabeth would be smiling). "made by the same guys behind Sc2 co op" is marketing spin. It remains unproven whether or not Frost Giant has the level of output to crank out and support live versions of campaign, competitive, co-op, and customs. Its like they are trying to make a game for all RTS players. "A game for everyone is a game for no one". Cancelled out of no where? Multiple employees have acknowledged they are running out of cash. Also, TIm Morten's previous RTS creation C&C Generals 2 was "cancelled out of no where". The game getting cancelled due to lack of funds is well within the realm of possibility. Frost Giant is on the clock. We'll know what's up in six months or less.

If it dies somewhere in EA and never get to 1.0 launch is another thing, but still wouldn't be "out of nowhere"

"A game for everyone is a game for no one" Surely they would allow the best user created content to be sold, with the user maybe getting a 30% cut.Costs the studio almost nothing, maybe one guy doing quality assurance on the user content.

If it were as easy as you make it sound Kakao Games would be giving Frost Giant more money and bragging about all the money they were about to make. If not Kakao Games, then any one of dozens of VC firms would be all in on this. No one wants to give Frost Giant money. I'll go back to what Frost Giant employee Ms. Laforge said: "No one wants to give Frost Giant money." The reality is that Epic will not permit someone to alter UE5 by less than 5%, call it their own 'World/Game Builder', and then create their own pricing structure. Epic already has a world/game builder tool ... its called Unreal ENgine 5. Epic also has an army of lawyers that will defend their turf. VC firms know all this.

Given SG's glacial development so far, I had assumed the early access build would ship with only Vanguard and Infernals. If they're able to get 3 races finished (none of this "part of tech tree is coming soon" bullshit) my faith in FGS would be boosted considerably. With the beta being next month, there will hopefully be unit reveals or a 3rd race trailer coming out any week now. I'm holding out for something different but realistically it's probably gonna be a protoss/night elf style race. Some ancient race of angels/space elves

Separately, you may also see a fun Stormgate experiment from the team at Convai, who are working on integrating free-form conversation with AI into games. At the show, Convai will share a demo of their technology in Stormgate, with a (hypothetical) player interacting with one of our earliest NPC character models (you may remember her from our announcement trailer) using spoken dialogue. The work involved in creating this tech demo was done by the folks at Convai--it didn't take any meaningful time or resources away from our development team. We are entirely focused on developing the game and preparing for our upcoming Early Access release. Please note that this is a very early test and we're still not sure if we'll be including this technology in Stormgate. If we do, we'll first have to make sure that it makes the game more fun for our players, that it feels and sounds immersive, and--as Stormgate is a SAG-AFTRA union-backed production--that it has the blessing of the union and fairly compensates any of our voice actors involved. https://www.reddit.com/r/Stormgate/comments/1bfuj4g/frost_giant_and_stormgate_at_gdc_next_week/
