I don't think he needs your advice on how to be successful considering you spent $500 on vapour ware and have to spend your weekends defending your behaviour on a forum. Not really sure how Spartak’s behaviour is any worse than others. He’s been pretty transparent about said investment for forever, he clearly wanted it to succeed, but hey it didn’t. Hey he had a certain bias but whatever. This level of vindictive bollocks is frankly pathetic, get a new hobby. Maybe boost an RTS with some actual promise instead of perpetually beating a dead horse or something. Try that. Fucking hell. Insufferable. I’m out.

Tbf though I think Starcraft does have a better "over the shoulder" viewing experience. I attribute that mainly to the fact that you can zoom in and out in BAR. It's a great QOL feature for the player, but for the observer who isn't controlling it - totally makes watching a lot less enjoyable. In any case, I think it's ridiculous that we have 300 pages on a failed project that no one is playing when there's a seriously incredible game that most people haven't tried yet. So, I'm going to keep banging this drum until I'm driven off the site.

Also, if you think SC is clear at first glance, that's your professional deformation. Non-RTS fans don't understand what's going on at all. It's like a cat watching a laser pointer. I tested it on my normie friends. The only RTS games normal people can understand are historical like AoE or CoH. At least you can understand units' purpose by looking at them using your real life knowledge.

When looking at the unit roster it's hard to think anything outside of "wtf are they thinking/doing?"... I mean, according to the homepage, one faction alone has 102 Units (not counting Turrets/Buildings). They probably should and could cut that in half and still have very solid variety while not looking ridiculously overwhelming. I watched quite a bit of BAR and it's really not that hard to understand. Just think new Total Annihilation/Supreme Commander and thats basically it. I also have seen about 0 reasons for the unit roster to be as big as it is.

So you don't have to think of all 100 units while playing. Personally I wouldn't mind another branch with 20 units. I'm so tired of balanced and sterile games.

Great for every feature someone develops and gets added, but maybe you end up with redundant units given that same vague approach? I mean the game does kick arse but I’d agree that sheer size of unit rosters is probably a flaw

There aren't really 100 units per faction. There are 4 independent tech branches, plus a bunch of t3 superunits. Each of them has radar and radar jammer for example. They are functionally the same, except flyers fly, vehicles are fast, etc. The same with other unit types. You might think of them as subfactions. Sometimes you mix them, yes, for example when you play front as robos and your team gives you a T2 vehicle builder, so you have T1 robos and T2 vehicles. The game is designed precisely like this and it works. There's huge strategic variety by intent. This is what SC2 lacks the most, IMO. There is only a little gap for strategy. It's mostly build order execution, macro, and micro. Scouting and decision making is there too, but it only exists inside the limits of your build. The craziest thing is showing your enemy 10 marines and a glowing tech lab and going mech next. On the other hand BAR has that crazy unit variety, sophisticated economy and teamwork. It really helps to open up a strategic potential.

I guess that one thing SG did well is to provide nearly endless content farm.

Just like Tim Morten's linked in. Speaking of, today's delusional ramblings show Timmy is still showing up to award shows to try and squeeze someone for money. "Last but not least, Kickstarter wound up being an unexpected source of awareness. We set out to fund some specific initiatives (a wide beta and a collector's edition), but the Kickstarter campaign also sparked a broader conversation. " I like that he completely ignores and tries to sidestep the controversy around the kickstarter. It definitely sparked a "broader conversation" about how you were misleading fans (investors) about the project. Tim is so good at speaking out of both sides of his mouth, he is a born car salesman charlatan. I also like how he calls Reddit harsh because it was the only place actually asking questions and trying to get Tim the charlatan to tell the truth. Maybe that's why he curated the AMAs so heavily.

Isn't half of the point of Kickstarter to spread awareness anyway? Financing is part of the thing for some smaller projects, but for example for Storm Gate the 2 mil they got from there is roughly 5% of that overall budget at best. Surely it doesn't hurt, but the exposure you get is a much bigger deal.
