I really just don’t see how they recover it from this position. Nonetheless I think they’ve really improved it a hell of a lot since. As someone who’s tried every arena shooter under the sun, 20 players, most of whom are already quite good at the game is the death knell. If you launch a decent EA build and even if numbers aren’t spectacular, they’re decent, then new players who discover it have a wide range of opponents etc. This ain’t a hypothetical for me, I’ve seen it. EA killed the hype. Friends who do see improvement and wanna go back, usually it’s not coordinated. Friend A likes the progress, asks if we want to play, most of us don’t yet, friend A goes and plays anyway, but there’s nobody playing. Then friend B maybe pops in a week or two later and it’s the same deal | ||

I liked what I saw in beomulfs video but I am not really a fan of this art tease they just shared on twitter. Especially bottom right. I don't know why exactly I don't like it but I just don't. Also some other art has me at "ehhh". I think helicarrier is great though. This is just in reference to the art shown in this recent tweet, I know there is much more and some of it looks good... | ||

The original plan was, familiarity and burnout is real, folks were pretty receptive to moving to a new title, but the EA was an absolute hype killer for Stormgate, so back go SC2 we go. I think to play it does mitigate some of the issues SC2 has in its brutality, although it also makes it way less interesting to watch. Not a huge problem for me, I mean I think WC3 is my favourite RTS to actually play, I also think it’s a worse watch than both StarCrafts. So there’s positive stuff but they’ve been massively hamstrung by that EA and I’m yet to see them really recover any of that momentum yet. I think it is a momentum game and each patch 0.3, then 0.4, I think has brought it more players than the last. If 1.0 launches and let's say we get 1000 concurrents to try it out, if the game is actually GOOD and fun, and people are excited to complete the campaign, then 3v3 is fun or co-op rework hooks them I could see it being in quite a healthy state. Also hopefully 1v1 gets improvements with creep camps and tier 3 heroes. The future has potential to be very bright for me still, but frost giant has to nail it. | ||
