But you are still going to ignore it (ie. the biggest content they are adding to the game) when talking about how fast the progress is? 😄
His point is they haven't shown us anything of the 3rd race. No units, no style not even pictures. With the current track record FG has, I think it's fair to assume there won't be a 3rd race at EA launch. One new unit and one new map since the last update is just not enough progress to think we get a decent product at EA launch which is about 4 months away.
As SoleSteeler said, an early version of the 3rd faction will be playable by beta testers at the end of this month. He was listing stuff that is added for the next build to make the point that progress is slow but leaving out the biggest piece of content (among some other things mentioned in the video) and when you do that, of course progress will seem slower than it is.
Was this in the video? The dev update says nothing about that. I believe it when I see it
EDIT: Not beeing negative nancy here. Just a healthy dose of scepticism
Stop the bad faith, please. Yes, they talked about it, but haven't shown it. The other 'big' news is the campaign missions, but it's in the same boat. I'm still open to be surprised, but I won't take their word for it anymore (I believe there will be a third race, but in what state?)

I will say it's a strange choice to make the 3rd race playable in the beta but not do the public reveal yet, given they have 25K playtesters or so it will surely be leaked
I would assume it's because some kind of cinematic/lore reveal trailer is on the way and the announcement will come whenever that's ready

Maybe they'll make a trailer or sth for the 30th to show some units and explain race mechanics.
Btw Godsworn EA is available on steam and steam reviews are pretty positive altough it does lack content for now

A "work-in-progress sneak peak version". Considering how often they usually use the superlative, this sounds suspiciously conservative. I think they want to temper expectations this time, which is smart. So yeah, they will show the third race on 30th of April but I personally expect it to be in the state the other two races were during open beta at best.

... Yes, I know. Sorry for the slightly incorrect wording. They said "share" in the video and I missremembered that as "show". But yeah, I'm aware that it will be playable in the beta.

Are you telling me they will not make a trailer/ showcase/ announcement for the 3rd race whatsoever? I'm having a hard time believing that

That would be kind of dumb, imo. Even with an NDA, someone will definitely leak it. I don't think it has ever worked to have thousands of players play a game without anything as major as the third faction here being leaked.
Yes, you'd really think they'll do some kind of release trailer or showcase. Otherwise they will lose control when it gets leaked 2 hours after Frigate launches lol.
There will be leaks but I doubt they would be widespread enough to impact their plans to do a big reveal for the wider public. Most of those who are committed enough to hunt down leaks already have beta access.
If the third race isnt hitting the mark, it is looking dire. There is so much work to still be done.
I see no hype around for the game atm in many forums, threads stopped at like 30 pages and no new posts. Even if the game is decent in EA, i am curious how many people can be reached.
It's the #39 most wishlisted game on steam, so all of those people will get an email when it launches in early access, and again when it launches out of early access.

It honestely rather makes me sad, thinking about how many gems will stay hidden from most of the players while trash by big companies will always get the spotlight (not talking about SG here).

You shouldnt take the feeings of the rts community as an indicator for stormgate success. The vast majority of the market isn't even aware of the gam yete. The big decider if the game succeeds is open, casual market. Not bitter vets yearning to relive their youth through a relaunch of starcraft.
