But I guess that's also the result of me never being a fan of multi-player in Diablo games, it's fun from time to time with your friends but overall a mostly pointless mode in this kind of game IMO. I believe most people only really use multi-player for trading. This can just as well be achieved without any real multi-player, just have a shared auction house somewhere but the game be single player experience. Would actually be an innovative concept, where you'd only need Internet connection when going to the trading hub but could play offline everywhere else. Yeah, but it is really hard to sell skins and boosts in a singleplayer game. Sometimes it works, but it works a lot better in multiplayer games.
Why buy a garish, 4th wall breaking skin if you can't annoy other people with it? Motley is meant to be seen by other people!

Barring the over the top skill spam the PoE and D4 aesthetics are extremely similar. All the while PoE is boosting much more refined bosses (I would assume seeing how D4 team made no real effort to showcase boss fights like PoE and LA did), more game modes like maps and delves etc. LA has much brighter tone but probably the best looking and feeling combat, some amazing boss fights and cool map traversal.
Speaking of similar aesthetics, just compare this 2 screenshots:

Without the UI etc. you could fool me that this was the same character in different parts of the same area.

Lost Ark. I didn't play too much of it because of incredible grind/paywall at the end but up to this point it was everything I wanted Diablo to be gameplay-wise. If only the setting were darker...

I'm not interested in LA that much. This is a thread about D4 and the discussion was that it looks like discount version of PoE or LA, which will be its primary competitors.

Can you please specify what exactly is your problem? I was merely pointing out issues I see with D4 and judging from the responses I'm not the only one voicing them.

If something like that would be in Diablo 4, you would jump on it like a dog, And that wasnt some nitpick Clip

What is the clip intended to indicate? That the tone is not dark and the spells too flashy? Something about the teleporting around? Or is it something the streamer says? I had to watch without sound sorry.

Looks like D2 sorc with slightly more colours.

And from experience yes, it's not a selective clip, it's just how PoE is long before you even reach lategame.

I mean, visual clarity is definitely one of the main criticisms of the game that comes from within the community. Most of the "pretty colours" (very subjective, I dislike most of those) come from microtransactions so if you don't like them you save the money and have a prettier game, which is how I play. Although I admit that quite a few of the basic effects are still too much. So it's not like people don't criticise PoE for this. However, the game has so many strong points which easily outweigh the weak points. D4 has yet to prove itself in that regard and judging by recent history, people are rightfully reserved. I would also argue that PoE used to be much darker, had less effects etc. when it came out. It was a 10 year process to come to this point. This slow transition help people who don't necessarily like this stuff to adjust and keep playing if they are invested enough in the base game. For a Diablo game, people expect it to be dark. If it initially comes out looking like a cartoon, people will upset, just like with D3. However, I actually think Blizzard is doing a really good job here atm. It's not quite as good as it could be because I often feel like they just turn down brightness and mute the colours, so it doesn't feel gritty but rather pale, but it is still a huge improvement over D3. I'm more concerned about the skins and visual effects they bring into the game via microtransactions. They will almost certainly be very immersion-breaking and without instanced play you can't avoid to run into it, even if you don't buy microtransactions yourself.

I think the main problem here is not really the colors and effects but rather the gameplay loop of just ultra fast blasting everything on the screen apart while hopping from point to point. This is exactly what D3 gameplay looked at the end game and the reason why I dropped it never to return again. For some reason I have no problem starting D2 runs from scratch and going through the campaign over and over again, D3 rifts were just too boring and campaign too long and not engaging enough for me to survive another playthrough.
I wonder how this will shape up in D4. I really hope it isn't too much because I'm quite fond of playing around with multiple characters to try things out and if the game pretty much marries you to a single char (like MMOs tend to do often) it'll be a big turn-off for me. This even ties to cosmetics, will they be per character or per account? What I like about Guild Wars 2 for example is that if you unlock some skin, dye or any cosmetic really all characters on your account can use it, not just the one that unlocked it.
