Shouldn't be too hard, find 20 five person teams. Gives the game a lot more room to grow esports wise if it really picks up "steam".

The scoring system is awful, the guy who won died to the blue twice, and I think killed a grand total of 3 people in those 3 games. There needs to be a bigger emphasis on kills as opposed to winning the round. The guy who won the first round won with 11 kills (which is pretty impressive in a tournament) and that barely counts for anything. At least the commentators were definitely on point and salvaged it.
It's still a fairly fun watch but they definitely need to fix some things.
Pretty spot on.
- Stop using 3rd person mode - Increase blue damage in tournaments - Tweak the point system. Let winner get lots of points, but give a worthwhile incentive for killing. - Get a god damn dedicated observer and stop hiding the UI completely during standoffs/fights.
Evermore played the game as you should have to win. Blame the game & rules, not the player.

About the infinite blue camping the best solution would be to have the damage increase exponentially. So that you can be there for some time which is part of planning and risk taking to versus getting into the best position in the new circle BUT if you plan to "stay" there you will be fucked by the exponential damage increase vs time spend there.

The damage does exponentially ramp with each new circle, I didn't find it a problem to be honest Evermore got lucky in the sense that he found a shit ton of meds like 6+ first aids and boosters which kept him alive for a long time. I think it being 3rd person is the main problem it encourages the passive playstyle because you can't ever make a push vs a tree or building without the other guy seeing you. When its first person people will be able to be aggressive and be rewarded for it.

Am I the only one not triggered by Evermore winning? Consistently placing high got him the win and that's the point of the game being the last one standing. My only problem is 3rd person mode encourages passive play way too much.

People hate & blame the player instead of the real reason(s). Nothing new there.
FPP Duos starting. Hopefully spectating is better.
e. TPP. FPP on friday.

So they reduced the points for kills by one.. wow..

My point was more about havin to set up 100 PCs and having 100players playing simultaneously etc.

That seemed to be a much better game and observing, bit hard to keep track of all the teams though.
|
Kills need to be worth way more! The scoring system encourages playing like a pussy and hiding far too much.
|
I thought the observing was still pretty bad. We were shown people swimming for a good minute while a dozen people died towards the end.
|
If the rumour that changing perspectives takes 3-5 seconds (due to having to load all the assets required for the new viewpoint since it could be a totally different part of the map) is true, then it's somewhat understandable that the observing is bad since it also seems like a very difficult task in general to figure out which viewpoint of the 10+ available for most of the game is most interesting.
To be a really good "esports" viewing experience, the game really needs a short broadcasting delay and about 3-5 observer teams working under a producer cutting to different scenes as they become more or less interesting, almost how golf tournaments do it. For their first time though, i'm not exactly holding my breath.

People complaining about a Battle Royal style game where last-man-standing is more important than frags?

Came straight from one of the observers afaik.

Water is fun.

Glad someone who was actually on land won, they need to fix the water armour though its a bit silly.
|
That water thing was bullshit. Hopefully the FPP matches are epic and everybody realizes it so we dont have to deal with this kind of trash.
It looks impossible to push a decent player on TPP.
|
It is impossible push decent players on TPP. It's almost like having a maphack in starcraft, you can't surprise someone who can see all for no cost.
It boggles my mind some people on reddit try to argue that FPP is more campy than TPP. I mean, that's impossible, because by nature of the modes, TPP you can see all around without ever exposing, while in FPP you have to expose to see, which means people can even push directly ahead of the tree you're hiding behind.
|
Lots of things not working properly here but game still seems kind of fun to observe. They started using more playerperspective which works great.
I think FPP tomorrow will be awesome.
On the topic of bluezones I would like it to do about 20% additional damage per 100m you are from the edge. And not just in tournaments would be cool on live as well.

This game the camera work has been pretty solid compared to the earlier games.
