Debating wether to buy a switch or not...I'd love to play it, already played Zelda on WiiU so the only big game would be Odyssey. Currently it's about 320 dollars where I live when usually it's about 550 dollars...It's my country's blackfriday. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of money currently... But if i don't but it now i'll probably never buy it..not sure...I alread have a game though, a friend gifted me the Rabbids one as he though I already had a switch. Another big game, Xenoblade 2, is launching on 1st december.

Plus smaller games like Hollow Knight and Sonic Mania, or remakes like Starcraft Remastered? 2017 was an exceptionally *good* year for games. We haven't had a year with this many good games in a very long time. Even if you're down on all these games, were 2016 or 2015 really any better? There were some stand-out winners, but for the most part, releases in past years have been way shallower than the sheer density of good games we've gotten this year. Games that would have been a slam-dunk top 2-3 game in 2015/2016 struggle to make top 10 in 2017 just because of how much more they're competing against.

But thinking back it was, I can't really name that many big, good games that came out this year. Next year should hopefully be a lot more interesting. I thought Horizon Zero Dawn would have had a good shot at it, but BotW just delivers similar stuff better.

Do I have to play with the Joycons split btw? I really don't like how they feel in my hand, although I'm thinking of speedrunning this game so if there's certain moves that require split joycons I guess I can get used to it.

If you have the wrist strap things, the added size might make them fit better. You should also have a grip to dock them into if you're looking for a more traditional style.

Just buy a pro controller and be done with it. It's a totally worthwhile investment. You'll be glad you did and you'll probably need extra controllers for friends etc anyway.

I made a crack about how expensive they are the other day, but even at the absurd price, it's definitely my preferred way to play all of my games. I think I wouldn't play Splatoon 2 any other way

It just seems like there are a few moves that require detached joycons in Mario, but I'm not sure how important it is. @Mohdoo I'm getting a Pro controller soon but I can't right now. Just spent $80 on Mario ![]()

The main one is the spinny hat move, which I can usually get to happen by suddenly twisting the grip or pro controller a little. But I think a lot of people probably just get by without that move if they can

mario, nier, p5, divinity 2, i put ~20 hours into botw and have to say it's one of the most underwhelming zelda titles i've played in recent memory. including the windwaker sequels and skyward sword 2017 is one of the best years gaming has ever had imo. many games that released this year will shape the industry for the next decade or more. also a pretty good year for ports and remasters of older stellar games. we got bayonetta, vanquish and are about to get okami on PC
