Seemed other people thought so too, as it's already sold out. Oh well...maybe next year.

It's decent, but was a huge letdown coming from XC1. It has a couple great moments, like getting your mechs and some plot points.
XC2 seems to be going a lot harder in the original direction. If they succeed, expect a great story, a world that makes you actually want to explore it, not because you have to, lovable characters good and evil, and crazy plot twists.

It's more that the Switch only has 25GB of memory so the rest of the game or games you choose to buy, you better have a decent and reliable internet and access to MyNintendo.

Though lots of folks have already replied, I guess I'll toss in my 2c too. I think if you go into expecting little from the story and characters, and focus more on the combat and exploration, you can still get quite a lot out of it. If you think shitty dialogue and story will ruin your experience then definitely don't bother. But if that's not what you're looking for and you're interested in a gorgeous open world to explore, collecting and crafting new gear/weapons, avoid threatening monsters and then come back later to kick their ass when you buff up, you will probably enjoy most of it. I put an easy >100 hours into it over a few weeks around the holidays when it came out, and really loved the overall experience despite constantly scoffing and rolling my eyes at the laughably lazy dialogue and interactions.
Looking forward to XC2!

Seeing some big mob and getting the fuck out was fun. Trying to reach far away lands avoiding strong enemies is also fun.
And it's interesting that it's not only the level that counts. You have to look at the thing size.

At first, I thought you were describing getting a Switch on Black Friday.

How about the original Xenogears that was on the PS1... pls.
All eyes are on Xenoblade Chronicles 2 with its release tomorrow, but those of you wondering if Xenoblade Chronicles X will ever see light of day on Switch, Monolith Soft president Tesuya Takahashi had a little to share on that in a recent interview with 4Gamer.
4Gamer: Just as Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii was made available on the New 3DS, are there any chances we’ll see Xenoblade Chronicles X on other hardware?
Tetsuya Takahashi, Monolith Soft President: “Personally speaking, there are times I feel like playing Xenoblade Chronicles X and think about how nice it would be to play it on the Nintendo Switch. Of course that will depend on demand and such, but I will think about it while discussing future plans with Nintendo.

Anyone play the new Xenoblade yet? Wondering if it's worth putting on my Christmas list

I'm 7 hours in, had a busy weekend or it'd be 20 hours+ lol.
Once again a bit of an overwhelming start, lots of information dropped at once and so many things to do, if you're not used to the genre it could be tough initially.
I'm loving it so far. Easily GOTY for me but I'm a huge fanboy so take that with a grain of salt. English voice acting isn't great, but you have the option to play with Japanes voices. Combat is a bit lame when you're solo, but in a party of 3 drivers with 3 blades each it becomes quite fun. Not as 'deep' as the overdrive mechanic in XCX imo but it's cool. Can't comment on story yet, after 7 hours I'm still only in chapter 2, decided to take my time with this one and do all side quests, power up blades, etc. Fetch quests got slightly more annoying imo, in XCX you could just run through white blobs? now you have to dig stuff up which takes slightly longer when re-zoning lol. There haven't been that many yet though. Lack of mechs is sad. Doing everything on foot will probably get annoying eventually, although there are lots of waypoints you can quick-travel to. Beautiful world as always, though I'm only on the first Titan, idk how many different areas there will be. Great soundtrack too.
Just get it man
edit: though maybe read this first: https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/7he5ay/im_seriously_not_enjoying_xenoblade_2/

I'm hopeful that X2 will still be announced in this Decade.

I'd already settle for porting XCX to Switch so I can replay it all from scratch.

Does anyone have any news about the second DLC for Z:BotW ? I mean Nintendo said it was due in December, but here we are, in December, and there's been no new info in forever... Not even a new trailer, nothing to build the hype and get potential customers interested.
I mean come on Nintendo, I want need my Zelda fix !

Just get it man edit: though maybe read this first: https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/7he5ay/im_seriously_not_enjoying_xenoblade_2/ I'll toss in my 2c: I'm about as far in as the above post and enjoying it quite a bit. Did play XC1 and XCX. I'm not going to write a huge diatribe about the good and bad, but the best way I can describe it is: if you enjoyed either or both of the previous two games, I think you'd enjoy this just as well. A lot of the negative feedback seems (just a rough observation) to be coming from people that are just breaking into the series from scratch because they've heard the hype this game is getting and seen the positive reception from fans. Or maybe they dabbled a bit with XC1/XCX but weren't big fans and wanted to see what has changed or improved. I can definitely see a lot of things about this game being offputting to people in that situation. Hell I might not even recommend it to them. But if you're a vet you should feel pretty comfortable. Specifically using that reddit link as an example, some of his biggest criticisms include the "auto attack and wait for cooldowns" combat and the poor character designs/voice overs, but then says "I even played Xenoblade Chronicles X and enjoyed it a fair bit", even though those criticisms and others were equally or more applicable to that game lol. Not to rag on XCX, I enjoyed it a lot and put well over 100 hours into it, but its flaws bothered me way more than anything has in XC2 yet. At least we have the JP voice option this time around!
Also: I personally haven't felt overwhelmed by all the stuff they throw at you and all the small customization/upgrade options available relatively early on. I've seen that sentiment numerous times now and can understand why, but I think it's all similar enough to previous titles to adjust pretty quickly.
Again, in summary, I think a lot of the criticism I've read of this game is valid, but overly harsh, likely by people that got too wrapped up in the hype for the game (especially if it's their first Xenoblade) and did not get what they were expecting. Which is unfortunate. I've been in those shoes before. Vets of the previous two will enjoy the game in my opinion. Assuming nothing radically changes lol, again I'm only like 10 hours in.
Edit: as a slight aside/rant, I've seen the "I like JRPGs but don't like XC2" thing many times already too. Why qualify this as just "JRPG" when you can directly compare it to its predecessors? There are lots of JRPGs that feel nothing alike; plenty that I've liked and plenty that I haven't. Don't buy the game solely because you "like JRPGs" and then end up disliking it. That's more appropriate for brand new IPs with no history. Instead watch/play a bit of the previous titles to get a feel for this series. That review namedrops "Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, Final Fantasy" as his "hey I like JRPGs this game just sucks" credentials when those are some of the most popular franchises of all time. I know people that have played all of the above and wouldn't even know what JRPG stands for. Just a weird little thing that happens any time "big new game by Japanese developer" releases these days. "I grew up on Chrono Trigger but I don't like [insert literally any game from the last decade here]" shouldn't give you any special credibility lol

IIRC your arts start off CD in XCX, so there's no waiting. In XC2 you literally stand there waiting for the first art to become available. Though there are upgrades to also have X/Y arts off CD when starting combat so it gets better.

On December 04 2017 22:36 Laurens wrote: Though there are upgrades to also have X/Y arts off CD when starting combat so it gets better. Right, which is why someone who finds that boring at first could easily look through the upgrade tree and such to see what they have to look forward to, which was one of the first things I did! I don't mind a game's combat mechanics to take 30-40 hours of gameplay to come into its own and really reward the player for planning and combos and all that sort of stuff. Kind of a hallmark of the XC series. But I completely understand that some people want to be hooked from the get go, and would be incredibly bored and burned out after the first 10 hours. Just very different expectations and preferences, and unfortunately XC2 is not for them (which could be really disappointing given the rabid hype).
In addition to the hype, maybe we're just hearing more of the negative reviews this time around because the Switch doesn't have a massive selection of games, and a lot of people that have never touched the series are giving it a shot because it's quite different than anything else the Switch has to offer right now? I don't know why but I just don't remember much general negative reception to XCX, even though that game's story and characters and acting were hollow as fuck. Hell there was probably more backlash by fans of XC1 than newbies to the franchise. XC1 set the bar high. I could be completely misremembering though.
