I would totally drop $300 to upgrade the internal memory of my Switch to some slick SSD or something.
After a little googling, I found this: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/748750-can-the-nintendo-switch-internal-memory-be-upgrade/
Looks like someone totally could upgrade their internal memory with a higher capacity model. All the benchmarks we've seen show internal memory having the fastest load times, unsurprisingly. I'm surprised I haven't seen any DIY videos or something showing people bringing their switch's internal memory up to a faster 128GB or something.

This might mean a "block-by-block" copy would still work unless the console also verifies the serial number or something else of the storage. And even then, I suppose there are tools that let you edit the firmware of a storage device so that you can re-do the serial number there...hmmm
And yet, I get the feeling we'll be getting a "Switch Pro" late next year with at least double the memory and a graphics bump.

Something wrong with just getting a decent microSD and storing games on there? Is there some testing that's shown loading games from an SD instead of the internal storage is MUCH slower or something? I just picked up a 128 GB card a few days ago.

The speed ranks Cartridge<SD<Internal storage But we're talking about fairly small differences, so no it's not much slower, it's in fact faster than playing from a cartridge(although not by much) and maybe 2-3 seconds slower than the internal storage for 30 seconds loads like opening up zelda for the first time at a big open area, iirc (obviously also depends on the SD card)

Same reason you'd upgrade HDD--> SSD really. It loads faster and performs better.

Not for what has been tested, but it is totally possible someone could get a switch running on something beefier with a great deal of work. I'm just saying it'd be interesting.

For what it's worth, given that the internal storage is barely better than an SD card and they didn't design it to be upgraded, they probably aren't using something like a sata 3 or pci-e interface to take advantage of an SSD.

i like having cartridges whenever i can.

Great so now after you die for the 1000th time you have a nice and small device to throw out the window. Do they release it alongside a shock proof version?

All eyes are on Xenoblade Chronicles 2 with its release tomorrow, but those of you wondering if Xenoblade Chronicles X will ever see light of day on Switch, Monolith Soft president Tesuya Takahashi had a little to share on that in a recent interview with 4Gamer.
4Gamer: Just as Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii was made available on the New 3DS, are there any chances we’ll see Xenoblade Chronicles X on other hardware?
Tetsuya Takahashi, Monolith Soft President: “Personally speaking, there are times I feel like playing Xenoblade Chronicles X and think about how nice it would be to play it on the Nintendo Switch. Of course that will depend on demand and such, but I will think about it while discussing future plans with Nintendo. Source gotta ask Square for that Nintendo doesn't own the Xenogears (SE) or Xenosaga (Bandai Namco) IPs
Wishful thinking as it is not a game Nintendo would like in their catalog I'd imagine. Violent, Nudity, Anti-Religious elements.

Hum, Bayo was sponsored by Nintendo... even tough thanks to that Bayo 2 was toned down on all those fronts.

About 22 hours into Xenoblade 2 and I think I've got a solid understanding of all the game's systems now. Classic Xenoblade, other games take me 22 hours to complete, this one takes 22 hours to understand all the various mechanics xD
Absolutely love it. I wasn't too sold on the new collection points, but now that my blades have upgraded their various collection field skills and I get double loot, it's quicker than collecting stuff in X.
The blades system as a whole is great, on par with mechs imo, just a shame you can't fly around the map anymore. Flying skells still one of the best things ever in X. I like the mercenary system, sending blades around to level on their own is nice.
I miss mechs from X, but I've come to appreciate the combat in 2. It does seem easier though. In X there were some ground fights where you pretty much had to use an infinite overdrive spec to take them at equal level, lots of story fights gave me trouble the first time around. In 2 I've not had trouble with any bosses yet, though tbf I'm still in chapter 4.
I'm on the 3rd continent now and the world is once again stunning. Map and compass could've been better though. I also think the diversity of the 5 continents in X was more epic to explore. So far the 3 titans are also different from each other but there's no breathtaking jungle like Noctilum.
One thing I'm missing so far is a % completion counter of some kind. In X the entire world was divided in hexagons and each hexagon had a goal to complete, leading up to 100% world map completion. I hope something similar to that unlocks in the post-game of 2, I'm a big sucker for such completionist things.
Sales are looking good too, better opening weekend than 1 and X, though that was to be expected.
Must have for any JRPG fan.

Been slow playing M+R:KB but + Show Spoiler [holy shit World 3 boss fight] +By far my favorite map I've played so far. A good mix of challenge, mechanics, and a tight enough time to keep you on your toes. Only thing I dislike about it is you can't stomp the bulbs with Mario.
