Even with the next generation of Pokemon? Which franchises would get you hyped... 3D Mario, Smash?
well pokemon is over a year away! 3D Mario, Smash, Animal Crossing, Nintendogs similar something?
Those would be great too! I never played Nintendogs, but there are rumors from leakers (not sure how much I trust them yet) that a new 3D Mario, a new Smash, and a new Nintendogs are currently in development. If any of those are true, then surely we'll hear about them in 2027. It seems that Animal Crossing: New Horizons is still receiving updates, so I'm not sure when a new AC game will arrive. When you look at the AC franchise timeline*, however, the gap between AC:NH and the next AC game is going to be wayyy longer than any previous iterations, so maybe it's time for a new AC game too! * https://animalcrossing.fandom.com/wiki/Animal_Crossing_(series)#Timeline
I am so excited for OoT its not even funny. I remember playing through it at a friends house cuz i didn't have an N64, and being young we needed a strategy guide. It was so much fun.
Same here, and I think it was very smart for Nintendo to show the 1998 version of the game before the in-depth look at the 2026 version, to remind us all of just how the N64 version actually looked. As a ten-year-old, I probably thought that the 1998 version felt as wonderous and as cinematic as the 2026 version actually is!
The upcoming release date is also perfect for me, because the school that I teach at is actually closed on November 5th (and 6th), giving me a four-day weekend to relive part of my childhood

Nintendo is running a massive Customer Appreciation Sale for the next two weeks, including 30% off 79 games that almost never see discounts (mostly first-party franchises and console exclusives like Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, Splatoon, Metroid, Kirby, Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, and Xenoblade), and 30% discounts on a ton of Nintendo accessories, amiibos, and merchandise: https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/sales-and-deals/customer-appreciation-sale/
(This seems to primarily be a Switch 1 sale, not a Switch 2 sale.)
The updated image showing upcoming Switch/Switch 2 releases is very impressive. I'm shocked at the number of games that are being released for the Switch system. It is almost overwhelming because there are so many upcoming high-quality games being released, and from so many different genres that I think anyone who owns a Switch can find a few games that they would be interested in.
I wonder how many games in that image make it into your next updated tier list lol

Totally agree! And I suspect that it's been that way pretty much every month so far, though I haven't looked at any previous graphics for the first year of Switch 2. I feel like people complaining that the Switch or Switch 2 doesn't have enough games weren't even trying to do any research before making that statement, and they just wanted to be contrarian/sensationalist to get clicks/views.

I'll have to be more selective with the games I play nowadays, as my wife and I recently had our first child! Most of my time and energy will be spent on him
Yeah it'll definitely be interesting to navigate little bits of spare time here and there, assuming I have the energy to play more haha. I figure that I could still rank games that I haven't yet finished too - I've learned that I can pretty much get the gist of a game within the first few hours, and rate it appropriately.
